I’ve been seeing that it may be a torn Achilles tendon.

a torn Achilles.  Said it felt like he got kicked in the back of the leg when he went down.  Couldn’t have come at a worse time for Brandon or the team.  Pistons need big minutes from Augustin now and Dinwiddie needs to be serviceable off the bench.  Have an open roster spot, wouldn’t mind seeing Seth Curry get a shot on a 10 day deal if they need bodies in the backcourt.

Just when it seemed like they were primed for a run at that 8th seed.  Hopefully van Gundy hasn’t exhausted his bag of tricks yet, but if he has at least they’ll be able to get a solid contributor with a high draft pick.

That opp Jennings threw to Drummond off the backboard early in that game was sick. Sad to see he was injured. Looked like an Achilles for sure if you look at the play.

It is especially sad to see now because Jennings has been simply electric of late. As for the future? A playoff push in the east is like dominoes this year so if Van Gundy can get all the pieces lined up right all he needs is a small flick from Augustin and the rest of the backcourt to get what they need to play solid ball the rest of the way.

A lot of Pistons fans have already decided it’s time to tank. I’m not sure that’s necessary. It’s not like Charlotte or Brooklyn have some kind of all-world roster. 8th seed is still very doable.

Real shame for Brandon, the recovery time can vary on an ACL, 8 to 12 months is often quoted. Brandon will certainly not be back until next season at the earliest. Eight months would put him just about at pre-season time so that could be hopeful. If he was back with the team by opening night it would be a good recovery and he would need time to get back up to playing speed so it could be this time next year before we hopefully see Brando back to full form and fitness.

Luckily D.J Augustin is a solid back up and has played decent minutes this year and as said above Dinwiddle will get more minutes to aid his development. SVG can easily sign a player to a 10 day deal to take a look at them or he might look to get aveteran in who can help Dinwiddle along and play if needed. Chauncy Billups might still be in the Detroit era and if he was in reasonable shape might be ashort term option. Nate Robinson is an FA and looking for another team so might come into the mix.

Agreed, Pistons should look at Will bynum and do it quick.  Kemba Walker is having surgery so Charlotte might also be looking around for a PG.

Pistons can still look for a playoff spot, DJA is still capable of running a team and will be motivated to do just this (every backup loves a chance to prove they can be a starter)

Im sure SVG has something up his sleeve…now the pistons have no firepower from their starting 5 (even if Augustin starts still not enough)… Monroe can give them 15-20 ppg, drummmond can give them 10-15….but singler and KCP are too incosistent, and Augustin can give them 10. SVG needs to search for a SF and or scoring PG.Monroe is the only consistent scorer in the starting 5, which isn’t enough. Look for his numbers to inflate now.

Only silver lining with this is seeing what DINWIDDIE can do. After watching him play a few times he’s shown flashes his scoring and passing and D. So it’ll be interesting to see what he can do in bigger minutes now.

I do wish BJ a speedy recovery,.

Detroit had improved since they moved Josh Smith, but I think SVG may look long term and try to get as good a draft pick as he can. If the Pistons sneaked into 8th seed or maybe even 7th, they would likely be beaten by one of the East’s big beasts. At the moment they are in a bunch of teams around 10th in the lottery ratings, I’m not saying tank but I don’t see SVG looking to make an immediate short term fix. Give Dinwiddie some minutes to see what he can really do, get a good draft pick, they could get lucky and get into the lottery. If not they should still have a top 10 pick.

Look to resign Monroe in the summer, get Drummond tied down, get Jennings back, make a few moves and the team could go forward.

The wildcard could be they look to still make a play off push this year to try and retain Monroe but I don’t see SVG giving up a load to do so.

Hoopshype states they might look at Prigioni from the Knicks, Phil Jackson has apparently been shopping him for a 2nd rounder, he is on a cheap contract and would give them a nice extra option. Okay he is pushing 38 but he is still a good professional and would give the Pistons a nice safety net and not affect the minites Dinwiddie could get. Detroit’s 2015 2nd rounder is currently about 38th so that is in the higher part of the 2nd round which would fit what Phil is looking for I guess.

Mo Williams is available and would only require a 2nd round pick. Detroit would have to give Jerebko or Butler to make it work.

Pistons already have 17 wins in the east, tanking is not possible. They’ll be facing hardcore tankers every other game from here on out. 9th or 10th draft position is realistic, but a couple of the freshman will return further diluting the draft. They would be looking at a Kaminsky or the hometown boy Levert. Excited? Me neither.

I’d wager a deal could be made with Utah for Trey Burke, as a means of replacing Jennings. Not sure what a fair offer would be. Maybe a future-first round draft pick and some salary relief? Only makes sense if the Pistons see themselves making a run at the playoffs this year, though I’m not sure how feasible that is anymore.

Really tough break for everyone involved.

Burke is worth a 1st round pick, unless it’s top 29 protected.
