Brandon Jennings

Ok I've seen the highlight reels the ball fakes and all that stuff but I want to know is who thinks he's going to be a good starting PG in the league? For Lottomatica Roma hes averaging 7pts 1rip and 1 assist in 18 minutes a game speaking for myself I dont think thats very impressive. His season high is 14pts and a whopping 3 assists, way to create. I know thier are going to be the people who say his game is more NBA style but please tell me why he's not going to be Telfair 2.0

No Way

Brandon Jennings is the real deal, it's just that Europe is a totally different game from America, he's getting inconsistent, minutes, he's playing the most hardest position as a professional at the ripe age of 19, and his role is to just come in play defense and make open shots. If Jennings got into Arizona, everyone would'nt be questioning his talents, he would've been putting up big numbers for a Arizona team that has absolutely no depth at all. His game will definitely translate better in the pros. I have personally chatted with this kid on Myspace, and he's a workaholic. He's always working on his game everyday. He studys youtube videos of Tim Hardaway, Allen Iverson, and Isiah Thomas almost everyday, how many young kids you know now a days that would do such a thing? He loves basketball with a passion that's a good sign of a player who is destined to be successful.

Assists in international

Assists in international b-ball are tallied differently so he'd probably have more. Also, in Europe scoring 7-8 points a game makes you the 5th or 6th leading scorer on your team. His defense has actually improved. I've seen him play 6-7 game here in Europe. Probably as good as Augustin in his first year.

Didnt you see Through the

Didnt you see Through the Fire? Telfair worked hard, hell any athlete who is even being considered to become a professional must be stupid not to do everything to improve. As far as minutes are concerned he logged at least 10 in every game but 1 I'd think a top 10 pick should be more productive. Basketball is basketball. What seperates him from Telfair?

jennings is gonna be good

one thing that REALLY seperates jennings from telfair is his athleticism.. have you seen this kids youtube highlights?! im not saying jennigns is gonna be great, although he has the potential to be but he definately wont be telfair 2.0 .. i think they have the same type of passing ability and flair.. both have blazing quickness as well as sick handles .. but what it comes down to is that jennings has a more consistent jumpshot which allows him to have to create more scoring opputunities not only for himself and others.. and his athleticism! even if the kid had no passing ability watsoever i still see him as a louis williams type of players.. but anyways.. No i dont think jennings will be the 2nd coming of telfair.. but who knows.. guess we'll just have to wait and see..

Yeah.

Jennings Athleticism Is Off The Charts. This Kid Is Fast And Has Some Serious Springs. I Don't Think He'll Be Like Telfair At All. Like jrdafilipino1 Said, His Jumper Is More Consistent And Telfair Has Never Had A Jumper That Could Be Called Even Close To Consistent. I Like Jennings, And I See Him As A Less Physical Derrick Rose Type Player (that is if he reaches his full potential).

Quit Hating

Brandon Jennings is the real deal. And quit with his stats in Europe. He is 18 playing in one of the hardest league outside of the NBA and is putting up descent stats in limited minutes. Besides they are playing him mostly at the 2 due to his scoring prowess which explains for the low assist totals, but trust me once he gets to the pros you will see this kids court vision. Mark my words he is not the next telfair. Telfair wasn't nearly the athelete that Jennings is and Jennings is a much better shooter, he just needs to get better at shot selection. He may not turn out to be a hall of famer or that stuff but i can see him averaging around 18 points (give or take a few more) and around 9 or 10 assists when he is at his peak. And if those aren't good numbers for a pg then i dont know what is

It is europe

It is a completely different league. Look at Rubios Stats in europe that are good but not great. This is his first year in a pro league, and they actually play high quality basketball in europe if they were to play like college he would tear that place up.

B. Jennings

Watched him at Houston vs. the Nation.... My homeboy bust him and hit a game winner on him (ok Zay!!)... But back to the discussion. Telfair is still considered young and have his ups and downs NAME 1 PG that came out of high school and had an immediate impact (if any) in the NBA? Bassy will come along so calm down. Bassy and Jennings play a totally different style of game. Telfair is more of chris paul while Brandon is more of Kevin Johnson or Penny. Brandon jumpshot isn't consistent either. He has NO desire to play D and is a get my S-word first type of player (think Starbury). He's Very Very Very weak and rarely uses his right hand to do anything (this kid is SOOO left handed).........................................BUT............... You can't deny the talent. Very athletic, can finish like no other. He has the best vision as a PG i've seen in a long time. Doesn't back down to ANYONE. and he gets good elevation on his jumpshot. Honest opinion====> If he continue to develop his body and skills the sky is the limit. A better PG prospect (key word PG) than Rose, Westbrook, and John Wall, because of that outstanding vision.........

tuck243 on the money

That is probably the most accurate and objective post I have read on this forum and I couldnt agree more. I do think if he had went to Zona, he would have been a beast and they would have a spot in the tournament locked up.

I never was hating on this

I never was hating on this kid, Ive never even watched him play a game. I was simply pointing out the facts that if you're being considered as a top 10 pick I'd think you'd be more productive regardless of where you're playing. It seems like everyone loves his potential and athleticism rather then what he's working with currently which is getting him 7 1 and 1 in good not elite Euro league. I guess only time will tell, but I want to see this consistant jumpshot you guys are all talking about.

Jennings seems to be better than Telfair

Just from looking at both of they're skill sets Jennings seems to be better from first glance.Telfair is not done yet and has been playing better as of late, but he'll never be able to jump like Jennings. Jennings athleticism makes him able to get his shot of a little better than Bassy. They both have very good court vision and blazing speed. Just think Jennings will fit well with a NBA team that runs or just allows him to run things the way that best suit him.The guy needs freedom thats the problem for him in Europe, They're system is so rigid he can't do his thing. I can't say that Jennings will be a star but he will be a significant piece to any team that takes a gamble on him. If he ever gets that jumper going he could be a stud point guard for years to come.

Honestly

I am a huge brandon jennings guy, but lets be honest. He does not have a consistent jump shot. He has every other tool that makes him so coveted by NBA teams except for maybe an inch of height and 15 pounds. He will likely struggle a little bit in his 1st year getting used to the strength the other players in the league have, but the struggles will be gone by his 2nd year because he is a naturally talented point guard. As far as the Sebastian Telfair comparisons, which honestly are very valid comparison, the reason I think he will be more successful player because he is alot more athletic than telfair. The things that do scare me about jennings is the fact that (like I said before) he isnt strong at all and neither is telfair and that seems to be whats holding telfair from reaching his potential (that and he doesnt look to score that much, which isnt really jennings problem)..but he looks to be a successful player to me

well actually that three

well actually that three assists is a little misleading/ i don't know exactly how euro rules are but after the highly anticipated jennings vs. rubio multiple sports writers wrote that brandon jennings out played ricky rubio and they only had his stats as 12 points and 3 assists but all of the writers said he had at least 7 and didn't know why they weren't counted......so take it how you may but he outplayed rubio and had more than 3 assists, so that may be the case for more than one game.

you can't fairly evaluate

you can't fairly evaluate someone that isn't getting consistent minutes. it's as simple as that. he's used to being a starter his entire life and now he has to adjust to spot minutes and that's obviously difficult to do and shouldn't be considered as reflective of his talent or potential. also a good point by whoever to comment on the gameplay differences as well as how assists are handed out. with the dearth of sure things in this draft coupled with the lack of players in this draft/lottery with superstar potential, i'd feel pretty good about myself if i walked away from this draft with a player of the caliber of brandon jennings. not to mention how much tougher he will be in the future for having had to adjust to a completely new and different culture and how prepared he will be for the league next year.

telfair

You guys are talking about telfair as if he's washed up and out of the league like omar cook or something. May I remind you guys he's in the nba and starting for an nba team. The hype he came in with was just something someone of his talent level just couldn't live up to. However he's made strides in his game and is a solid/serviceable nba pt guard. I don't know to much about jennings, but in regards to his stats, why is everyone using the excuse that he's playing in the toughest league in europe, blah blah...You guys act as if the nba is a couple of notches below the level being played in europe or something. Whatever team takes him though is going to have to be patient with him though, I don't think right now he's ready to run an nba team and play half court basketball consistently from the little I've seen/read of him.
