I think another good option for Houston could be Brandon Bass. Bass is on an expiring $6.95 mil contract and has seen his minutes reduced this season in favor of Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk. Bass has been an effective player both as a starter and as a bench player for contending teams and would give Houston added depth along with a veteran presence who has extensive playoff experience. For example, last night Tarik Black and Joey Dorsey combined to play 44 minutes, while both are solid players I believe Bass would provide a bigger impact and would significantly improve the Rockets depth. As for Boston, they would clear Bass’ salary while opening more minutes for Tyler Zeller who has shown some flashes off the bench this year. As OhCanada mentioned, Clint Capela could be sent out in a deal or Boston could even settle for a trade involving Houston rookie Nick Johnson who was an excellent college performer winning Pac-12 Player of the Year a season ago (and also happens to be the nephew of former Celtic great Dennis Johnson) along with this years’ Knicks 2nd round pick that Houston owns and looks like it could be a fairly high selection.
