DondiJohnParticipantCurrently 17 pts 8 reb 4 assist against Kentucky. He’s stepping up and UF leads by 5 with 10:21 mins to go. Im smelling an upset. He’s making a statement for the best freshman on the SEC not in Kentucky or even just in the SEC

F_DA_POParticipantI don’t watch much Florida games, but from what I’ve seen this guy is built like an NBA player. After watching him more and understanding his skill set, he seems like he’s going to be a top 5 player out of the draft. I like him more than Rivers.

akhan786ParticipantI really want the Cavs to draft him to pair him up with Kyrie.
And lol he’s not the best freshman in the SEC…MKG and Olaf the Unibrow Wonder say hi.
And yeah F DA PO I don’t know why Rivers is ahead of Beal in the mock, and this is coming from a Duke fan.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantwhy does he play like a senior tho?? very little upside… But he is smart and has a great jumper.. small for a 2 guard but i could see him being a top 20 pick

DondiJohnParticipantIf only they won, he’s stock would have skyrocketed

ChrisCrossParticipantIf Florida won, nobody would really care, it’s the SEC tournament not NCAA, but if Florida plays like this I think they can make a strong tourney run, watch out for Florida, coming from a UK fan.

FastAndFuriousParticipantVery Little upside?
He’s 18 playing like a grown man!

B FreeParticipantWhy does he play like a senior? You mean why doesn’t he play out of control and make stupid mistakes? Or why does he have great basketball fundementals and high IQ, follows his shots anda s a result has as many rebounds a game as Patric Young despite being considered undersized? I dont get it either.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipant^^^ No no no, i get that.. but im saying he plays like he is ready to contribute in the league right now. he is very intelligent as a player and person. Im saying what can he improve on???? he is 6’3 2 guard (eric Gordon, mayo) but he does not have the handle of a Pg… u can say he can work on his Pg skills but his best pos is the 2.. I see him as a Mayo, Lou will or Ben Gordon type of player, filling it up off the bench.. He will score like 10-15 ppg if he can do that at the next level

Taylor Gang MikeParticipanttrust me, kid has talent

bjcart53Participant@taylor gang mike I feel you bro. Beal has talent and will be good at the next level. Give me him over monta because beal can fit in a system a lot better. He can play and he is just scratching the surface IMO. Monta is more of a guy who just gets buckets tho.

B FreeParticipantI get it but just because he is undersized doesn’t mean he has to play that bench role look at Eric Gordon who some see as a franchise SG, or Monta Ellis.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 03/10/2012 - 11:27am #645825
Taylor Gang MikeParticipantMonta Ellis is quick as a mouse and is one of the best scorers in the league. Beal is no Monta, not even close athletic or skill wise

B FreeParticipantIm just saying undersized SGs don’t have to be bench guys if they are good enough they will start and he is a starter, 6’3 220 muscular build, good rebounder and defender. Most of the undersized guys aren’t starters becuase they are a defensive liability against bigger gaurds he won’t have that problem.

lalailaParticipantyes you guys mentioned everything and i agree 18 but nba ready great body stroke overall game and character..
and i see another thing why he is better prospect that Rivers, it’s his surprising versatility , both where named as a one dimensional players before the season and i would say it’s actually what Austin is but Beal is unselfish good defender and especially i have been surprised by his rebounding, this kid isn’t the biggest longest or most athletic guard but he has J-Kidd like nose for ball and toughness..i like it

coreykParticipantLBJ swears D Wade is barely 6′ and its never hurt him. The other examples are good too; Ellis, Gordon, & Gordon, And what he makes up for is height, he makes up for it in strengh. As a Cavs fan I would love Beal. Not sure if i take him or J. Lamb first but I take both before Rivers. And lets not forget he’s only 18. His ball handling and defense will continue to improve and he might grow an inch or 2.

MalcolmxParticipantHis father is 6’8 and he is still 18 so he may grow a bit more

SubZeroParticipantI was actually gonna post the same thing about this that F_DA_PO said. I think he’ll definitely be a better pro than Rivers, although Rivers might average more points as a pro, because he’s more of a volume shooter while Beal is more likely to fit in with a system and give up some of his shots.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipanti like rivers better, but beal is nicee

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantI really like Beal. I think he is one of those players that will be better in the NBA then in college. He is not doning bad now, but I think he game is built more for the NBA, not to mention he is built for someone only 18 years old.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/13/2012 - 2:39am #646489
PulseGlazerParticipantThere is little reason Beal can’t play like a pre-Piston Ben Gordon. How is that NOT extremely valuable?
