So the worst defensive player in the league voices his frustration about not getting as many minutes as he’d like in the 4th quarter.  WOW.

As a Bulls fan Boozers defensive play is sickening,  I HATE when Noah or Gibson make a great block and as I watch the game I hear Boozer yell "get that sh%* outta here".  Seriously I hope Thibs tears this guy up and expresses his frustration with this lazy bum!

    I HATE BOOZER

I STILL remember Utah fans on this very website warning Bulls fans that we would end up hating him in less than 2 years. I just thought it was sour grapes from Utah fans…

They seriously couldn’t have been more right…

The weird thing about Boozer was he started his career as a hard working overachiever and who set goals for himself before every season and was determined to reach them.

I remember him and Paul Silas had a arguement about how Silas told him just rebound and get garbage buckets because you are a NBA gabage man and that will be your role. He felt differently and his first two seasons he etched goals in his mantle at his home. The first was 10 and 10 as a rookie and 15 and 10 as a second year player and for all intents and purposes he reached his goals for the most part. Silas refused to run plays for him and that plus the money is why Boozer bolted to Utah.

Its to bad his third goal was to be really really rich and then he stopped making them.

        Russ Bengston Slam writer,

The Cavs shredded the last year of his rookie deal and were going to sign him to a six-year, $39 million extension, hoping to lock him in long-term before he turned into a max guy. Then the Jazz stepped in with a six-year, $70 million offer, and that was that. My math isn’t too good, but that’s roughly 31 million reasons to go West. Even LeBron told him to get that money. (In hindsight, perhaps not shocking.) 2) Then-coach Paul Silas more or less told CBooz that he’d just be a role player in Cleveland. A rebounder and defender. That’s the way Boozer explained it to me the last time we spoke, and I have no reason to disbelieve him: “I was happy [Silas] told me that, because I saw what he wanted for my future. That helped ease my decision a little bit. I couldn’t wait to come to Utah and play. I hope he can see what I’m doin’ now, I’ll tell you that.”

There has been talk of amnestying Boozer for quite some time now and with nearly 17 million due to him next year in his final season maybe this will finally be the year they do it.

Imagine if the Bulls would have kept Aldridge instead of trading him Tyrus Thomas on draft night.

Sounds like Boozer getting amnestied is a foregone conclusion this summer so Chicago can make a run at Carmelo and other top wings.

Ive never been a big Boozer fan since his days at Duke. He is a good rebounder and has a nice touch around the rim, but other than that he is not very effective. His game just doesnt translate into wins. I think Gibson is one of the most underrated bench players and if they got rid of Boozer, i dont think the Bulls would be missing much at all.

I was actually coming here to post something about Boozer and his comments.  Thibadeau is an amazing coach and knows exactly what he’s doing.  Boozer could be the worst defensive PF in the league, and that’s why he doesn’t play down the stretch.  He can’t be trusted.  Can’t wait til he gets amnestied after this season.  I feel sorry for the franchise that decides to pay that man any more money.

I think the Boozer signing is a good example of how early success for a young team can be devastating for a franchise. The Bulls had that memorable playoff series against the Celtics in 08-09, and many people saw just how good Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah were. The next year the Bulls kind of fell flat looking to shed the "Baby bulls" moniker, but were expected to make a big move in free agency that summer. They saw that they had a top point guard and top center, a good glue guy in Deng, and only had two weakneses, sg or pf.

Everyone suspected either Wade or Bosh would go to Chi-town, but then the whole Big Three fiasco and the Decision occured, and suddenly the Bulls plan fell out the window. They had to sign someone, they had the money, and they needed that ever allusive "low post scorer." The Bulls weren’t patient, and instead signed Boozer to that ridiculous deal, and I think it’s finally coming back to haunt them.

Taj had an awesome rookie year the year before they signed Boozer, and would have been the perfect compliment to Noah. Who knows, if they never signed Boozer, they might have been able to keep Asik and play him 23-30 a game. It’s funny to think that the Bulls could have had a big rotation of Noah/Taj/Asik…yikes!

I think Boozer catches a lot of flak, and some of it is deserved, but I think if this guy were making a lot less money it would vastly change the perception of him.

People are talking about amnestying him, though I think they should just let his contract run out or trade him for assets if possible rather than amnesty him because they’re not going to contend this year or probably even next year so it’s not a super time-sensitive matter. Also, clearing space for Carmelo? Exactly what problems would that solve? He’s a better scorer and playmaker than Boozer but not as good at rebounding, and Anthony is just as bad defensively, especially while playing PF. Also, Boozer doesn’t kill you by playing hero ball all the time and just isn’t as much of a dumbass. He’s also not going to just randomly start telling people that he doesn’t know if he’ll resign or not and cause a ton of issues and prevent management from planning beyond this season.

I agree with most of what you say, except Anthony being worst at defending PF’s. I think given his lack of lateral quickness, Melo hurts less defending the 4 rather than the 3…
