MopgrassParticipantI’ve been assuming the Bulls would amnesty Boozer, but it hasn’t happened. They have until tomorrow to do it. Why haven’t they done it?
It struck me that maybe they don’t really want to pay $16.8 million for someone to not play… to throw way that much money. Maybe they’re waiting until the last possible minute, threatening to amnesty as leverage against the Lakers, so they don’t have to give L.A. too much.
Otherwise, save everyone the grief and amnesty the guy.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantThey can’t sign and trade him to the lakers anymore. The lakers used up all their cap space already and renounced Pau’s rights. Boozer will be amnestied.

RshippParticipantLakers have not used all their cap space…
Nick Young, 3yrs/$19.5m = 6.5/year
Jordan Hill, 2yrs/$18m = 9/year
Trade for Jeremy Lin = $8.3m against Lakers cap (even though his salary is $15m).That equates to $23.8m, going into the offseason they had $37.3, leaving them with $13.5 million in cap space.
And they did not renounce Pau Gasol, they offered him 2yrs/$20m and he choose the Bulls instead.
So, in summary, the Lakers could in fact take on Boozer if they so choose by simply including a little less than $4m in salary for Boozer…0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/15/2014 - 3:30am #936324

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantYou obviously don’t know what the heck you are talking about. You added up lin, young and hill up to 23 million but you aren’t counting kobes 24 and Nash 9 million and randle at 2.8 along with Sacre and clarkson.
The cap is set at 63 million and all those players just took most of it.

220ParticipantI imagine they are trying to convince the 76ers to take him along with some assets so they aren’t forced to pay his contract so he can play elsewhere. Every other bad contract was rumored to go to the 76ers I’m surprised this one wasn’t rumored to go there as well.

EndlessknightParticipantI could see Boozer putting up monster numbers on the Sixers, say 20 and 11 but I don’t think Chi would be willing to give up a first just to get rid of him and I doubt if the Sixers would take much less.

druneave3ParticipantThey are exhausting all possiblities and they will be actively trying to trade him minutes up to the deadline. No need to do it until then. Perhaps some team will change their minds and take on that horrific but expiring contract so the Bulls don’t have to eat all that money and get a bit more space to sign another wing and 3rd PG that they still need. But that won’t happen, they will cut Booz at the deadline and be forced to get those needs on minimum deals.
