think the problem with the bobcats is they need a franchise player and good supporrting cast aside from kemba walker and biyombo so my question now is who will they pick in this draft and will this pick at no 2 overall could change thier franchise record into a good one?

Who they will pick: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He had great success in college, and he has a great work ethic and determination that MJ loves. I don’t like him, because an undersized SF that can’t shoot just screams role player in my opinion.

Who I think they should pick: Harrison Barnes or Thomas Robinson. Barnes can space the floor with his shooting, making it easier for Kemba to work the ball around and give Biyombo and Mullens space to operate. I think some people worry about Robinson being to undersized to guard a 4, but with his 7’3" wingspan, that shouldn’t be a problem. He’s a great defender and rebounder, and is a great guy to boot.

Yeah I think they should select either Barnes or Drummond. Biyombo at this point has proved he can develop into a decent shot-blocker, but his size means he can play the 4 or 5, if you take Robinson, you don’t really have that luxury of taking a C or PF next year and giving them a spot in the rotation.

Keeping Biyombo as your only PF/C prospect is fine with me for now, because next season there are going to be a number of great PF/C players available, and better to have the flexibility to take one of them than going with Robinson who is limited to a PF role.

That said, Drummond’s upside is just as big as any C coming out next season, and he has the size to play C, moving Biyombo to a PF spot where he can thrive in a similar role to Serge Ibaka of the OKC Thunder.

Barnes would be my first choice though, he’s a guy who has shown a killer instinct in close games, knows how to play off the ball, can work off a couple of dribbles and measured great at the combine. Yes he struggles to penetrate off the dribble at times, but he’s never really played that role, being a PF in HS and mainly a shooter in college.

That he’s a local favourite and would increase fan support is an added bonus.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is the wrong fit for a team without a franchise player, he needs to be a second-option guy who can make a difference with hustle and D, rather than being expected to carry the scoring load.

I will say this though, if they hire Brian Shaw as their head coach and institute the triangle, Drummond is a no-brainer to me. Andre has the elite passing ability from the post that is required for the triangle, and I think he’d be a natural for that system.

So a guy who is 6’7.5" and 232.8lbs is undersized? Lol

Now I know he has that hitch in his shot or whatever and I know he only shot like 25% from 3 this year but he shot 49% from the field and 74% from the ft line. He scored on drives, in transition, open jumpers, and even posting up at times. If he extends his range and gets consistent on his shot he could score 18 a game IMO.. Combine that with his work ethic, passion, defense, and hustle and I think he is the right guy to turn that franchise around.

Barnes is considered the better and more polished offensive player right now and that’s a fair statement, but MKG has the tools to be really solid offensively and absolutely great all around

The Bobcats are so far away from competing at a high level at this point. The best thing that they can do is to pick the best player availible. Personally I think they need MKG but Barnes and Thomas are legit legit nba Players. Barnes might become a star in the right system but we all know that the Bobcats don’t have that system as of yet. I don’t think MJ will take a chance on Drummond just because his past pick in Kwame brown. Yes the reward is High but the risk is way to great to take a chance. I think the Bobcats should pick MKG and then try to trade tyrus Thomas and Dj augustine for veteran bench players and draft picks. You have to start from somewhere.

They need to draft Robinson and go after Jeff Green hard in free agency.

    PG Walker

    SG Henderson

    SF Green

    PF Robinson

    C  Biyombo

This should at least compete….to win they will need another couple years and some savvy moves.

I think pursuing Jeff Green this early is a bad idea, they don’t have the roster to make deep post-season runs yet, so they are better off taking their lumps and getting high draft picks. That roster with Green wouldn’t be a contender in a couple of years, it’d be like the Sixers from this season, no real star, just a bunch of good players.

If the Bobcats are as good as the Sixers were this year in two years with this roster and additional pieces through moving Magette and Augustin, then the General Manager would get a pat on the back. They would still have a lottery pick next year as this team would be like OKC from a few years ago. In every game, but ended up with alot of L’s that was the offseason they picked up Harden and turned the tables for themselve.

If i am Bobcats i take Drummond. That is one seriously bad team. They won’t compete for a while so picking a guy in T-Rob, who IMO doesn’t have a really high potential level is not an option. Taking Drummond is all or nothing. I know this doesn’t leave them with much socring in the front court but they would be a force in the paint defensively. If this pans out and drummond turns out how i think he will(i am very high on him) then the bobcats are going to make noise in the league if they make some more great decisions regarding DJ and other picks.

The Sixers were just my example of a middle of the pack team, but it’d be just like the Bobcats the year they made the playoffs, they’d have no upside and nowhere really to go.

Try to hit a home run and take Barnes or Drummond, Robinson will get them nowhere fast, because even "hustle" players drop their head once the relentless losing sinks in.

MKG is not turning any franchise around, he is a nice piece but not what I’m looking for with the second overall pick, especially on a team that makes putting the ball in the basket look like rocket science.

Realistically they should consider two players, if they fall in love with Drummond they will take him but this pick just screams Barnes at me.  They need a scorer and he has the greatest potential to be a top scorer in this whole draft as well as the whole North Carolina connection, I would be very surprised if he wasn’t the pick.

I feel that while Barnes and Kidd-Gilchrist have promising careers ahead of themselves, and Robinson is the most sound pick in this years draft, none of them will be able to live up to the hype of being a No. 2 overall pick, especially within an organization such as Charlotte, where some serious turnaround is needed. To avoid any letdown, the Bobcats should help themselves by trading down. Here are a list of moves that can help them turn their roster around in one year, and the organization in three years tops: 1. Trade down from 2 to 6 with Portland. The Trail Blazers have two lottery picks and would love to take a risk on Drummond before he’s gone, especially since they can still draft the likes of Marshall and Teague at 11. With the newly acquired 6th pick, take Jeremy Lamb, reuniting him with Kemba Walker. Lamb is a great shooter who actually shoots threes (unlike Henderson, who averaged a mere 0.8 3PA per game last season, a dismal number for a SG in the league. 2. With the 31st pick, trade down again to around the 40th pick, and a future second rounder and select Big East Player of the Year Jae Crowder, a fundamentally sized SF who can defend and rebound with the best of them, is great on the fast break, and has a nicely developing jump shot. 3. Trade Henderson for an even later second round pick, and a veteran shooter. Teams would love to pick up his rookie contract while getting younger and quicker. With this pick (50 to 60 range) select Kyle O’Quinn from Norfolk Stae. O’Quinn has developed tremendously over his four years at Norfolk, and he too has great size (7’7" wingspan on a 6’10" frame) and offensive skill with range that stretches all the way out to 20 feet. Also, picking up a veteran SG will help Lamb to learn from someone with great experience and offers a strong sixth man off the bench. So, after all that, here is the newly reconstructed Bobcats starting five: PG Kemba Walker SG Jeremy Lamb SF Jae Crowder PF Kyle O’Quinn C Bismack Biyombo 6th Jason Terry/Rip Hamilton 7th Corey Maggette 8th DJ White 9th Corey Higgins 10th Derrick Brown And ther you have it; a young, quick team with a born leader in Kemba, defensive skill in Biyombo, O’Quinn and Crowder, a savvy young shooter with vets to learn from, and a promising future which, after losing out on Anthony Davis is all you can hope for.

There is really nothing Charlotte can do. They were the worst team in NBA history by wins and losses. They were the worst offense in the league by a wide margin and the worst defense in the league in terms of giving up points in the paint and overall points per possession. I’m sorry Charlotte, nobody is fixing that mess. Anthony Davis wasn’t going to fix it, and none of the potential 2s are going to either.

Even if they have bottomed out, it isn’t exactly a quick jump out of the bunker.

If they take Drummond then they have two legit shot blockers and rebounders inside with a good 3 big man rotation along with Mullens. Drummond wasn’t known as a scorer but I think he can work on it. Andre and Bismack will help the Bobcats win with size and defense. Sort of unconventional having two players like that starting but if Drummond is the best player then take him. Athletic 7 footers who showed some promise for a big-time college team as a freshman don’t come around too often. Kemba can score in the backcourt with Gerald Henderson being a solid wing player. If they could get Will Barton in the second round then I like their new core. WB can score and finish and Drummond can dunk and block shots inside.

I they want to build a true contender Drummond and Barton will be great pieces. That would give them a lineup of Kemba and Barton in the backcourt with Henderson on the wing and Drummond and Biyombo inside. Mullens then becomes their sixth man. I think they can move Augstin, Tyrus Thomas and Magette for some solid young guys and decent picks. Then next year they can get another wing such as McAdoo (as a small forward or stretch four), or Adonis Thomas (decent size and fundamentals. Could turn into a great core guy/sixth man — projected as a Thaddeus Young type player with a better jumper).

They could also try to get another draft pick this year. They might be able to move DJ Augustin for a young player and the 40th or 41st pick. Maybe they can get Nolan Smith or Elliott Williams for guard depth and maybe draft Darius Miller as a glue guy small forward off the bench. Somebody could drop in the draft and be there with that pick.

Bobcats have to take a SF, meaning they have to go after MKG or Barnes. MKG is the national champion with the great work ethic and solid defense. Barnes is the local product that can score the ball and open the floor up for other players to work.

Considering the Bobcats had the worst PPG and the 4th worst points allowed per game, I’d say they could use both, but they can only pick one, so I think Barnes is the better fit. Barnes would spread the floor, letting Kemba, Biyombo, Henderson, and Mullens operate more smoothly.

Some say Robinson should go #2, others say Drummond could also, but SF is by far their biggest weakness. Not to mention next years draft should have a lot of bigs in Noel, Zeller, Adams, McAdoo, and Len. The Bobcats should go SF this year, and then go after a big next year. They already have Mullens and Biyombo who aren’t the greatest options, but are still young and can develop if given minutes.
