Does anyone else think that Eric Bledsoe will be a sleeper pick to the Pacers?

They could use a PG, but I don’t see them taking Bledsoe at 10. That is quite a reach for someone that hasn’t shown any solid PG skills.

Pacers usually look for mature players, typically juniors or seniors.

I think they should trade down and grab Bledsoe. to me he is better play maker than Jameer Nelson and is more athletic.

I will admit this though he does not seem like a Larry Bird type of player and this is not a black or white thing. Even the black guys on the Pacer teams do not have the kind of grit and flash that Bledsoe cept for Ford and he does not play much for some reason

Larry Bird isn’t going to pick Bledsoe with the 10th pick. It’s just not going to happen.

I can guess who took my points away and I will add if Larry Bird drafts Gordon with the 10 pick his is stupid and should be fire. I am not the only one saying this.

How is Bledsoe going to be a bust. That confuses me because you can ask most Gm’s and they will tell that is Bledsoe would have done somewhere and played point guard he could be top 10 pick. To me he is no worst than Johnny Flynn.

I like Luke Babbitt better than Gordon Hayward, not only is he a better athlete and a better shooter, he also has a longer wingspan which makes him a versatile SF/PF hybrid. If Larry Bird is smart enough, he would take the better player instead of who will sell more tickets.

They already have a great person at the 3 in Granger. Bledsoe would be a great pick for Indiana, TJ Ford is like a cancer now.

Well I only brought up Luke Babbitt because someone suggested Gordon Hayward, and yes Forward is not their need. But if their going to reach for a PG with the #10 pick at Bledsoe, Its best for the Pacers to gamble on someone in the 2nd round instead. Someone like Armon Johnson can be had in the 2nd round.

Bledsoe will not be picked by the Pacers. They don’t take guys like Bledsoe, who has shown he was a terrible PG when given opportunities. With that said he won’t quite be a bust, but he is no better than a backup PG. A Kyle Lowry type who can create shots a little by way of slashing to the rim, plays VERY tough D, and rebounds well for a PG. He’s probably gonna have a slow start to his career due where he is in development, and then average about 7 or 8 ppg and 3 or 4 apg throughout his career.

The Pacers are not set at forward. Troy Murphy is in the final year of his contract and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a trade deadline move. There is a good chance he leaves the Pacers after this year.. So I wouldn’t rule out PF just yet–Hansbrough isn’t a starter in this league.

My guesstimate right now is they take Montiejunas, a guy who can play PF and C, have him come off the bench this yr and start the year after in place of Murphy.

MR 6000 I think you are drastically and I mean DRASTICALLY underating Bledsoe. He averaged 20 points 11 assists and 9 rebounds in highschool. This guy is gonna be a poor mans Chris Paul.I see him going for 12-14PPG 2-4RPG 5-10APG and 1-2SPG in his prime.

Remember also the Indiana Pacers have TJ Ford the man noone wants around, and AJ Price an unathletic 3 point shooter at PG..

Earl Watson started the majority of there games last year.

Bledsoe would be an automatic starter at Indiana.

Also Bledsoe IS the type of player Larry Bird likes to draft. His strong tough a good leader fearless and has an amazing work ethic possibly the best out of this draft.Sounds a bit like Tyler Hansborough…

Everybody in the NBA had great stats in HS. Hell, most D-1 basketball players had crazy stats like that. I believe Keiton Page of Oklahoma State averaged 44 ppg as a HS senior, and he’s not ever going to play in the NBA. Jon Diebler of Ohio State, and Rotnei Clarke at Arkansas also had outrageous HS stats and none of them are even NBA prospects. That’s a poor, poor way to determine how a player projects as an NBA player.

He’s not going to go there. He works hard, but just about all the guards in the draft work hard. He showed last season that he’s not a very good pure PG right now. What legit PG prospect averages more turnovers than assists?? And what legit PG prospect has questions asked about their BALL-HANDLING? He’s nowhere near Chris Paul. Come on man.

Again with the Lowry comparison…. Bledsoe is a more athletic, more explosive, faster, better shooting, not chubby Lowry.

You nailed that comparison once again.

Any difference in ANY of those things you listed him being better at is a marginal advantage for Lowry or Bledsoe. The only difference is Lowry is more “thick” than Bledsoe, but that doesn’t mean he’s stronger.

    @mess.eee

You said Luke Babbitt was a better athlete than Gordon Hayward… No he’s not. Babbitt is an all-around poor athlete. Not even his long wingspan can make up defensively for the poor lateral quickness he’s shown on the perimeter.

Babbitt is a better scorer and shooter than Hayward, but not by much. Hayward is going to prove people wrong. Butler’s style of play (slow pace) and system held him back a little. Butler has never catered to the individual talents of one player. It’s always been about team and that’s been the case since I was a kid.

And for those of you thinking that *Larry Bird* and the Pacers are going to reach and pick Eric Bledsoe with the 10th pick… It’s not happening. Look at Bird’s track record. Bird and O’Brien will stick with TJ Ford for another season before they draft a young point guard who showed little point guard skills during his short time in college. There ain’t nobody in Indianapolis talking about Bledsoe! Not Larry Bird, not Jim O’Brien, not the Indianapolis Star… Not the fans.

The Pacers will pick a big OR… A wing if they know they’re going to move Dunleavy or Rush. Anybody thinking, “Why would they trade Rush?”… Well, they tried to trade him to the Bobcats at the trade deadline, but the deal fell apart at the last minute.

A Butler fan making a case for Gordon Hayward over Luke Babbitt?

Im pretty sure if a poll was made, majority in here would say Luke Babbitt is the better prospect.

    Luke Babbitt highlights:

Now tell me who the better athlete is, Hayward or Babbitt ? Im sorry but Babbitt is much more athletic than people give him credit for.

I’d make a case for Hayward whether I was a Butler supporter or not. I’ve been watching him up close for a little less than three years.

I could care less about a poll regarding who’s the better prospect. However… Most mocks, etc that I’ve seen have Hayward rated above Babbitt and being selected before Babbitt in the draft. To be honest… I don’t care if Babbitt goes above Hayward. The lower Hayward goes, the better chance he has to be selected by a winning team.

And you should smack yourself for posting a highlight reel of Babbitt’s best moments. I’m sure every player has one of those! He’s 6′ 9″ with long arms… He’d better be able to dunk. Too bad you didn’t post any video of him getting backed down in the post or beat off of the dribble *consistently* on the perimeter.

If that happens, fire Larry Bird. This pick will turn out to be worst then Mike Conley pick at 4. At least Conley proved he was a good NCAA point guard, so there was some reasoning in his selection (even though there is no way he should’ve been taken that high). As far as Bledsoe…we really just don’t know. Just take the best player available if you’re the Pacers.
