laarethekingsParticipantI know nothing will go down till after the draft lottery. But lets just say that everything stays where it should. That puts the Blazers at 6 and 11 in the draft and they’ll have around 22 to 24 million in cap space… Am i getting this right so far? Good.
Does anyone know where they want to go? I know the have to sign the Batum ( he’s asking for like 9 to 10 million …right? ) but do they want to draft at both spots and go young? Do they want to try and package a deal for someone like Howard? Not much noise coming from the Blazers so what do you guys think is going on up there?

F_Shope to god t-rob or drummond fall to the six and then decide between a pg; marshall or lillard, lamb (if he drops to 11, not likely), or terrence ross.
if not, pickup beal or which ever point they want with the 6 and go with perry jones or meyers leonard with the 11

JunkYardDogParticipantthey are interested in :
– extending batum (10M $ deal)
– bringing victor claver (the spanish sf) and joel freeland (the english pf/c) from europe
That’s the only things we know they want to do… but they don’t show any sign of trading during the draft (as they do every year) or a special wish to draft a player.
I don’t see drummond falling after the 5th pick… beal or barnes with marshall would be a good package. I don’t think portland need a sf / pf (mkg, robinson, jones, sullinger) and I don’t like lamb or lillard.

omphalosParticipantThey said they were looking for a backcourt star, so I could see them taking a chance on a guy like Wroten, or Rivers if he is still around with that second pick.
If they can get Drummond with the 6th pick they’d be very well positioned indeed to bounce back by the time Aldridge hits his peak years (27-30), and have young talent to carry the load once he gets on a bit. Keeping Batum is essential, he’s a brilliant defender and can hit the 3 ball, he could be a better version of type of player was Ariza on the ’09 championship team.

JunkYardDogParticipantI think austin rivers had some buzz and was overrated but now people are beginning to underrate him… I truly think he can become a player à la steph curry. He can create, he can score, he is a hard worker and has balls. He played well this year even if he has not lived up all the high expectations people had for him (could it be possible to ?).
He would be perfect in portland at 11th but it depends on who they decide to draft with their 1st : drummond if possible… but beal / barnes / lamb wouldn’t work with rivers. That’s why I think they should draft beal / barnes / lamb with their 1st (if drummond is gone) and then decide to draft leonard / marshall / lillard with their 2nd.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantFrom an interview with their interim gm, if they get the Nets pick they might try to trade one of the lottery picks for a top 30 player. So maybe someone like Iguodala.

ZeeProfessorParticipantThe guy’s a good player but they have Wesley Matthews and Batum as their wing players. I would only send them to the bench for an all-star, which Iguodala isn’t. Besides, I’m almost certain that Matthews will improve his game over the summer, the guy is crazy hard working, a good 3pt shooter and the Blazer’s best perimeter defender. He needs to work on creating his own shot and his ball handling this offseason.
I would trade the two lottery picks for a proven guy at the point guard and center position though.

PulseGlazerParticipantThis team, for all their bad luck and weird GM moves, is still very well positioned moving forward with great picks, a ton of cap space, and a young star.

JPBrayParticipantThey should trade Wes Matthews and some cap filler post player to the Bulls for Joakim Noah. That allows them to keep LaMarcus Aldridge out of foul trouble in the post.
