I’m sitting here watching the Clippers vs the Jazz (I’ve watched every Clippers game this season), and I’m amazed at just how fast Griffin keeps improving. He has 35, 14 and 7 tonight.

There were people saying that they didn’t think he’d be a top option or franchise caliber player… There were people who said he was the second coming of Kenyon Martin. They were CLEARLY wrong. He’s going to be that guy… The man.

Other than length, he has zero weaknesses physically. He’s probably the most physical gifted player I’ve seen since LeBron. And he has an unbelievable motor to go along with it.

Offensively, he’s not just a highlight reel. He can actually play *basketball*. He can post up on the low block or mid post. He’s already a VERY good passer at such a young age. He’s good at reading the double teams and is an unselfish player. He can handle the ball and I don’t just mean decently. He’s a good ball handler.

On the low block, he already has a couple of go-to moves, that are already tough to defend. He uses the bank a la Tim Duncan. He’s growing more comfortable shooting the mid-range as well.

His defense needs work and he’ll never be a great shot blocker, but I see the potential to be a very good man defender and be one of those "be in the right spot" type of defenders. And of course he’s going to be a special rebounder at both ends.

His heads on straight. He doesn’t seem to be motivated by the fame and fortune. His work ethic is amazing. He’s confident and plays with a swagger, but is yet humble. He already has leadership qualities and holds himself accountable. He’s exciting. Charismatic.

How long will it take for him to become the best power forward in the NBA and should he be an All-Star this season (if he keeps putting up these kind of numbers), despite the Clippers having a losing record?

Are you really suggesting cyclo was wrong? Seriously? Tsk, tsk…

Anyway, Blake Griffin should be touching the ball every time down the floor. In the first half, his teammates were finding him and the Clippers were leading by 8. After that, he wasn’t very involved in their horrid offense, and the Clippers fell apart. He needs smarter teammates to reach his full potential.

I doubt he makes the All-Star team, due to the fact that he is a rookie and his team is probably the worst in the league. He should be an All-Star, but history suggests that the coaches won’t vote him in this season.

This kid is unbelievable. I havent wanted to watch the Clippers ever, and I dont miss any of their games. He is a highlight waiting to happen. At this pace, how can you keep him off the All-Star team. He clearly is the best player on the Clippers and should continue to be the 1st option when Kaman and Baron return.

Im not going to compare him to Malone, its disrespectful at this point. I said it before and I’ll say it again, he is the power forward equivalent of Lebron. I just hopes he doesnt get hurt going so hard. He tries to dunk it on anyone around him.

If only the Clippers could start winning some games

He has to be an all star the only power forward who probably deserves it over him right now is Gasol but u coulld put Gasol at center.  Even Tim Duncan isn’t having his usual year.  If any rookie in the last couple years deserved an all star bid its Blake Griffin.  It isnt like his putting up these numbers against weak opposition hes doing it to Amare Stoudemire Millsap hes just a beast.  We havent seen a rookie this good in a while and we should give him his credit and vote him in or coaches should select him to all star game.

Tezo said it all. This guy is gonna be something else. The way hes playing, its not a matter of if. Its when. This guys guard skills are phenominal for his size. Throw in his quickness and explosiveness (Josh Smith like. I know. A 6’10 250 pound rookie with J Smooth body control and athleticism?)

Theres nothing to not like about Blake Griffins development. I expect him to become a very good man to man defender with above average steal numbers.

I can honestly say there has never been an athlete like Blake. He, like Lebron, is one of a kind.

He’s unbelievable, yet he hasn’t even scratched the surface.

The Clippers are a horrible franchise, but if anybody can turn it around… It’s him. And IF he can’t, then they need to burn the franchise and all of it’s memory down to the ground, then pee on the ashes lol.

They’re not a very good team, BUT they have two building blocks in Griffin and Gordon. Bledsoe and Aminu (though he makes bone head plays… he’s young) look nice as well. They should get another lottery pick (maybe the top pick at this winning pace). They also own Minnesota’s pick, which is very high. Their cap situation is decent too. I know they’re the Clippers and it’s been said before in the past, but you have to like the potential of this team heading forward.

And in regard to Griffin making the All-Star team… I can’t think of another four man I’d rather see. I mean, what four man should be on that team over Griffin? Griffin should be the starter if he keeps this up.

LeBron and Amar’e minus their big egos… LOL

Seriously, the Clippers were pretty much lucky to get a caliber player like Blake… I think he and EJ are playing beautiful music together whether winning or losing… They know each other’s moves much like Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose, Chris Paul and David West, Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer(then)… Yes, they are losing that much this year but they can move forward with Blake in the future…

And I know there’s the worry about him getting injured due to the way he plays, but I think his body can handle it. I wish he’d wear kneepads though, so he can avoid banging knees. Banging knees was what enventually led to his kneecap injury last season.

I was watching him up close vs the Pacers a week or so ago, and his body is just perfect (no homo). He doesn’t have one leg longer than the other like Oden’s or have an imbalanced body, blah blah blah. This dude is specially built and has the right muscle in the right places. He just looks like somebody packed with power. It’s going to take a lot to hurt him.

I also think he’ll learn to tone that part of his game down (pick and choose when to go all out, etc) as he matures.

Everytime I watch him, he amazes me. He is one of the FREAKIEST athletes I’ve ever seen. I every game he plays, there is at least 1 highlight-reel play. His skill set is underrated too. He has a few go-to moves in the post right now and he’ll only add more as he ges older. His jumper is developing too. Just imagine him with a jumper. I think he will become the best power forward in the league eventually.

Blake isn’t real long, so he may never average even 1 bpg in his career, but he has very good lateral quickness which sets him apart from other PFs not considered good defenders because of a lack of shot blocking ability. He is able to provide good help defense by picking up offensive charge fouls pretty well so far. He should be able to contest shots in the low post better as he gains experience. He is similar to Karl Malone in shot blocking ability, Malone averaged less than a block per game over his career.

I just worried that his playing style will cause him to suffer a lot of injuries. I love his intensity, but I just wonder if his body will hold up.

If they keep losing like this and if they don’t trade the T’Wolves’s pick, they could have 2 top 5 picks…unlikely, but Kyrie Irving and Perry Jones or Harrison Barnes? They would probably trade one of the picks most likely but still…just imagine the possibilities

^^ I would love for that to happen WizKid. Even though the Clippers have a lot of young talent with more on the way in next year’s draft, as long as Sterling is there, they will never be a a winning franchise. He will definitely leave when his contract is up. I hope he comes to the Wizards. Wall & Griffin would be a sick combo.

yeah i watch the clippers games soley to see blake griffin. i actually turn the channel when he subs out.

As far as being a allstar or starting for that matter y’all are going a tad too far first of all hes on the worst team in the NBA. secondly y’all are forgetting about dirk,,millsap. And if we are picking players on bad teams then kevin love would get picked ahead of him. Love may not do it in the same exciting fashion but he is scoring the same as blake and rebounding better. yeah i watch the clippers games soley to see blake griffin. i actually turn the channel when he subs out.

Almost forgot about scola as well who is putting up almost the same rebounding numbers and scoring

"yeah i watch the clippers games soley to see blake griffin. i actually turn the channel when he subs out."

I know it’s just burning you up inside that EJ is averaging close to 25 points (if he was shooting his usual from three-point, he’d be averaging 30), 5 assists and getting to the free-throw line NINE times per game while Mayo is coming off of the bench in Memphis.

Griffin is averaging 30 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists over his last five games. He’s not going to average 30 for the season and his numbers will go down a little once Kaman/Davis return, but the kid gets it. This isn’t a Brandon Jennings 55 point game fluke. He’s going to keep putting up huge numbers and playing at a high level.

He’s already arguably the most exciting player in the West and he’s dominating. IF he keeps this up, why shouldn’t he be in the All-Star game?

He reminds me of Shawn Kemp only way more effecitve right away.  It took Kemp a couple years to really hit his stride.  If he keeps working on his game (which I think he will) he could be something very special.

Why would it be buring me up?..I like eric gordan but hes a shooting guard that does things ive seen from a couple of other shooting guards in my lifetime. Blake on the other hand is a different Animal. I liked gary payton but i watched  because of Shawn Kemp

And yeah blake is exciting but overall hes putting up around the same AVERAGES as Millsap whos on a winning team while blake is on the worst the NBA. Blake doesn’t deserve it more then Millsap because of that. you dont get picked because youre more exciting or else Josh Smith would have been picked over a couple of players last year. Russell WestBrook is more explosive then CP3 and if im not mistaken his scoring is better and his ast are close but do we put him over CP3 if the thunder was losing like the Clippers and the Hornets are winning?

And yes Gordan is playing very well but they aren’t equaling wins. I’m pretty sure he would trade his hollow stats for a chance at the playoffs Mr Clippers

And if we Throw out records Then Kevin Love is also Dominating

    Kevin Love 19ppg 14reb

    Blake-20ppg 11reb

    Scola-20ppg 9reb

If we just went by excitement Duncan probably would have been backing up Amare. The Main Factor is and should be Production and wins.  I like Blake more then the other guys but im not gonna let exciting dunks blind me From who deserves it, Just like the league didn’t when they didn’t put tyreke evans on the All star team after he did something as a rookie that only 2 others did

"How long will it take for him to become the best power forward in the NBA and should he be an All-Star this season (if he keeps putting up these kind of numbers), despite the Clippers having a losing record?"

The best power forward in the NBA should be good enough to lead his team to more than 16 percent of their games. Derrick Rose is in his third year and has been carrying a dog cast to the playoffs each year. STAR! Kevin Durant is carrying Thabo Sefolosha, James Harden, Serge Ibaka, and Nenad Krstic. STAR! Deron Williams has basically had a revolving door of teammates, but he is the constant and they keep winning. STAR! Chris Paul when he is healthy might put up the same numbers as Darren Collison did, but they actually win games. STAR! Bad teams have guys with big numbers, but that doesn’t make them stars.

I didn’t think he would be near this good in the NBA. I thought he was going to be one of those guys who was listed as 6"10 in college, but come into the league and only really be 6"8 and not be able to physically dominate like he did in college. I couldn’t be more wrong though, like others said he also knows how to play the game, he can play with his back to the baskest and use the back board well when he shoots, both pretty rare in todays game. The way he can rebound and then bring the ball up the court reminds me of Barkley.

Funny how when Boozer was hurt or now that he is gone, Utah has not missed a beat. Paul Millsap became Carlos Boozer. It didn’t miss a beat when Okur went down. It didn’t miss a beat when Ronny Brewer became Wes Matthews. Or when Wes Matthews became a washed up Raja Bell (who now doesn’t look washed up). All that roster turnover, all the injuries, but the constant is Deron Williams.

As for Russell Westbrook, I don’t think he isn’t on the level of Rose, Williams, or Paul. If he was thrust onto Chicago, Utah, or New Orleans I don’t see those teams being nearly as successful. He is a good player, but not on that elite/carry a team level.

He’s not the best power forward in the league right now, but what’s wrong with asking when or if he will be?

Rose landed into a good situation in Chicago with Gordon, Deng, Noah and Hinrich. That same core had just won 49 games and swept the Heat in the playoffs not long before. Seattle won 20 games Durant’s rookie season… Only 23 games his second season in Oklahoma. Was it wrong to ask how long it’d take for Durant to become a superstar at that point? Williams had Boozer for the first five seasons of career. He’s had Okur and Kirilenko, who both have been All-Stars, and Millsap as well. Not to mention, that team is coached as well as any team in the league. Paul’s Hornets were an okay team his rookie season, but didn’t make the playoffs. Was it wrong to say he’d eventually be one of the top point guard’s in the league after how he performed?

It’s clear to see that Griffin is more than just some player putting up numbers on a bad team.

Also to add to IndianaBasketball’s point, Jerry Sloan has one of the best offesnive systems in the league. I mean that has a little bit to do with it, right? He’s a Hall of Famer I believe? *sarcasam*

I’m sure Blake Griffin could put similar stats up on a winning team. He probably would thrive even more on a winning team that has a proven system. For instance, if you would put Blake Griffin in Paul Milsap’s place or on the Hornets, his numbers would be even more "inflated"…

Russell WestBrook is a star period!!!!! its not a argument if you say you dont THINK he could carry a team if he was on this that or another team. We can only go by reality and what team someone is on and on OKC Westbrook is clearly a star

Kevin Durant doesn’t mind taking a back seat when Russell Westbrook is taking over a game in crunch time.

Westbrook scored 12 of his 25 points during a decisive 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter and also had 11 assists, and the Oklahoma City Thunder rallied to beat the New Orleans Hornets 95-89 on Monday night.

"This is the new Russell," Durant said. "He’s just taking over games and controlling the games. That’s what we need for us to win."

Westbrook scored six in a row to tie the game, then kept going with a driving layup and a 3-pointer that put the Thunder up 88-81 with 1:38 to play. After the 3-pointer, he mocked slamming guns down into holsters at his side.

"Sometimes when my teammates are down and not making shots, it’s an opportunity for me to be able to step up and help us win the game," Westbrook said.

Westbrook has been the go-to guy down the stretch for Oklahoma City recently with Durant and Jeff Green struggling to knock down shots consistently. Over the past three games, Durant and Green are a combined 37-for-109 (34 percent) from the field.-espn

And Blake takes a back seat to millsap because hes on the worst team in the NBA while millsap is on one of the best. Its always been like that when selecting a allstar team and shouldn’t change just because you me or whoever likes a player. Monta ellis has been putting up nice numbers for years, tyreke evans last year, you got kevin love who’s putting up one less point then Blake and 3 More rebounds also on a bad team so if Player son bad teams were to get selected Love would have a foot up on Blake.

And like i said before can we stop with the fantasy "if he was on this or that team" the fact is these guys aren’t on another team they are on the team that they are on

I think sometimes, you can use hypothetical situations like that. For instance, if a superstar is carrying an awful supporting cast to the first round of the playoffs, I think it’s fair to say that things might be different if he was on a different team. I think the issue arises, as you said, when you have players putting up great stats on horrible teams(Love and Griffin). I do completely agree that Millsap deserves to be in the All Star game over both, because he is putting up the stats AND winning.

Theres a difference between who you want to see and who deserves it. i rather see blake over dirk but dirk deserves it because he’s actually winning. Same with paul millsap.
