Who are the biggest overachievers this season? Team wise, coach wise, player wise, etc. Just anyone who’s surpassed expectations.

Definitely if we’re talking about overachievers we have to mention the Celtics and Blazers. The Celtics were considered an 8th seed contender, and even as a Blazer fan I fully believed we would have a record in the bottom five in the league. Now they’re 3rd and 7th in their conferences, respectively. Anyone else you guys think deserves some recognition?

Paul George?  Just coming back from that injury, let alone being able to resume elite status.

I think KAT has overachieved. I think everyone thought he would have a solid rookie campaign, but he’s been a top 5 center this season, IMO.

He had a great team to work with, but the way Luke Walton stepped in and the Warriors didn’t lose a step was impressive.

Rondo has had a pretty good year this year. Seeing some flashes and performances from the Boston days.

Brad Stevens for sure. He has that Celtics team competing every night.

has overachieved as well considering how much everyone on draft night hated him, Stephen A Smith has preached his disappointment over and over again on First take when the Knicks picked him and about how Phil has said about him being "too tall" for the game and that he is skinny.

Its funny the Zen Master saying something like that, now Im not alone. In a post a while ago i said i had given up on players taller than 7’3.

I obviously like Porzingis but ultimately, i have analyzed that KAT might just be better than Porzingis in the future because of his superior mobiblity (not because he won the skill contest ), and ability to put the ball in the floor…. something i feel like Porzingis would benefit of if he was shorter

You didn’t "analyze" anything, you’re just re-asserting your pre-draft opinion that Towns was clearly a better prospect.

Zen Master didn’t draft Porzingis at #4 because he might be too tall. Zen Master said that to motivate Porzingis, and it worked, because duh, he’s the Zen Master.

Porzingis was never "too tall", even if you thought so. And the only reason you thought so had nothing to do with watching Porzingis play in Europe.

And even now, do you really think that 7 freaking 3 Porzingis’ ability to protect the rim is less valuable than Little Man Towns ability to dribble?

Which skill do you suppose is more applicable to the center position?

Porzingis’ +/- blows Towns’ out of the water, and the Wolves would have a better record if Towns and Wiggins were as good defensively as people like to pretend they are.

A lot of people are forgetting the Macs were projected to crumble this year after losing Chandler and failing to land Jordan. Nowitzki and company have held strong and seem to be a solid bet to land a road playoff seed this year although the future is looking dim for the Mavs.

Definitly the blazers, i thought they were a 25-30 wins team, low skill level, too young(the oldest player in the rotation is henderson, 28yo), but in fact their weaknesses are their strengths, there’s a hierarchy and every player is answering the call, does what he’s asked to do, they’re embracing the underdog role.

Raptors, i thought they were a 50 wins team for a new franchise record, but they weren’t supposed to be the 2nd team in the east and they could very well win 55-57 games.

I add the hornets, not necessarily for their record(they could grab that final spot with 43 wins, be careful bulls, the tie breaker is lost), but they totally changed their style of play with the facilitator batum/without big Al (mini hawks at times with 7 players attempting/making threes from the PG to the "centers").

They were the worst shooting team in the league last year, now they’re scoring 8 more points per game, 3rd in 3pts FGA and 3 pts FGM, they improved their PPS, adjusted FG% by 10%.

Towns is so constant, consistant night in and night out, one bad game per month, reliable wasn’t his biggest strength at kentucky.

    Now he’s just flawless, 20,5 pts 12 rebs 2 blocks per 36 min, shooting 54, 38 and 85…

    Porzingiserella…

Barton who could be 6th men of the year and runner up or 3rd for the MIP at the same time…

Honorable mention for the college 6th mens, 18 and 19yo outside  the top 10 at the draft, Booker, Turner…building blocks, all star caliber at worst.

Khris Middleton deserves a shout out as well. Yes he had certain expectations, after signing a big contract in the off-season but a lot of the time you see pretty good players have breakthrough years only to come back down to earth after hitting it huge in free agency. But Middleton has actually gotten better.

Kent Bazemore, he flashed ability in LA but now in Atlanta he’s been allowed to shine as a valuable 3 and D swingman.

Evan Fournier deserves mention too. Particularly because there would have been pressure to play both Gordon and hezonja minutes from an early stage.

Draymond Green, we all knew his was good, but did anyone really think he was a top 10 player in the league at seasons start? Because I do and know a few other people that agree.
