First off let me just say that I live in the heart of Big Ten country, Indiana. I’ve grown up here watching Big Ten and I am a die hard IU fan. This is not only my favorite conference but it is easily the best, at least this year anyway. I didn’t just look up stats and see who has the best numbers, these are picks based off what I have seen so if anybody disagrees just ask me and I’ll gladly give my reasoning. One more thing, the only reason why I didn’t put any freshmen on an all-conference team was because they have their own team and it let other players make a team. I know that’s not the case in real life and I know these freshmen all have a chance at making a team, but that’s just how I wanted to do it.

    First Team
    Cody Zeller
    Deshaun Thomas
    Victor Oladipo
    Trey Burke
    Tim Hardaway Jr.

    Second Team
    Dre Hollins
    Keith Appling
    Brandon Paul
    Aaron Craft
    Christian Watford

    Third Team
    Jordan Hulls
    Jared Berggren
    Roy Devyn Marble
    Rodney Williams
    Branden Dawson

    All-Freshman Team
    Glenn Robinson III
    Gary Harris
    Nik Stauskas
    Yogi Ferrell
    AJ Hammons

    POY-Trey Burke

    DPOY-Victor Oladipo

    6th Man-Will Sheehey

    Freshman of the year-Gary Harris

    COY-John Beilein

I like your top 3 in the second round. lol
These guys will get early looks in the second round based on their athleticism alone.

except for Christian Watford being on “All-Anything” for the Big Ten. He is jacking up too many 3s (I know he can shoot, but he is by no means a specialist. More of a streak shooter). He also acts like he is allergic to rebounding. He leaves Cody down there to fight with two or three guys all by himself. I was hoping one of the 6’9 athlete freshman that IU has would step up and take his minutes.

I do agree that guys like Hollowell and Perea should get more playing time but Watford is not near as bad as you say. He has improved his rebounding and defense and the guy shoots 47% from 3! He makes soooo many big shots for IU. He plays hard he gets a lot of tips and deflections and every once in a while will post up or drive on people. This team is made to run and gun and he makes almost half his 3s so I would say he is doing a really good job.

Watford is a good player and if you are going to be one of the best in the country then you do need seniors providing quality minutes. I’m not trying to say he is terrible by any means, I just don’t think he is all-b10 material.

If they had Perea cleaning up the defensive boards then Cody can leak out even earlier and really utilize the fact that he is the best running big man in the country in transition. IU loves throwing that long outlet to him because Cody can usually get a step or two on the other center.

I just think a defensive rebounding 4 would make this team a much much stronger defensive team and then you can use Watford in stretches for offense instead of 30-35mins a game.
