David West grew up in NJ. I think he had family in NC, which is why he went to garner.
The carolinas is really coming up. I don't know much about sc, but nc is really coming up.

David West grew up in Teaneck, but he went to high school in North Carolina. I saw a special about David West and Teaneck during the playoffs a couple of years back. He was talking about how it was one of the last towns in the United States to desegregate (happened during the late 60's).
you sure? i know he was born in jersey but he grew up and played hs ball at garner high school. i was younger and didn't really kno him. just heard about him. my cousin went to the same church as him. i could be wrong tho. even wikepedia said he grew up in garner but then again it is wikepedia...
