I made a prevoius thread about famous bball courts and there were alot of good responses from ballers all over the US and it had me thinking who produces the most talent. So I want to know what state/region/area produces the most talent.................
you may have just started the most heated debate in nbadraft.net history
i think its NYC just my opinion however
Lol ima go wit some dark horses like Chicago and The Carolinas
I think its New York, but don't sleep on the entire DMV area, and Seattle isn't far behind either...
chicago has produced nasty amounts of talent like d-wade, rose, corey maggette, etc.
Honorable Mentions: Seattle, Philly, Florida, Carolinas
Give us 3 years.
Jennings, DeRozan, Westbrook, Lopez Brothers, Holiday, Collison, Gibson
Well mostly in the LA region but just throwing it out there for Cali I don't know much off the top but young guys from Cali: Lopez Bros, Westbrook, Barnes, Collison... vets/retired Pierce, RMiller,
it's cali baby. But then again there are so many people in california it would be kinda embarrasing if it wasnt at the top. Current NBA players from cali off the top of my head:
Jordan Farmar, Baron Davis, Paul Pierce, Trevor Ariza, Jason Kapono, Gilbert Arenas, Tyson CHandler, Tayshaun Prince, Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, Robin Lopez, Josh Childress, Darren Collison, Arron Afflalo, Russell Westbrook, Luke Walton, Deshawn Stevenson, Brandon Jennings, Ryan ANdersen, Matt Barnes, James Harden, Nick Young, Jason Kidd
Im sure there are more im forgetting about
California wins hands down.....huge state...tons of talent. Kidd, Pierce, Baron Davis, Andre Miller, etc.
Chicago area produces the most guards: (current)
all right, i was curious so i looked it up. Here are the guys i forgot:
Jason Collins, Jarron COllins, Chase Budinger, Demar Derozan, Jared Dudley, Austin Daye, Drew Gooden, Aaron Gray, Chuck Hayes, Ryan Hollins, Eddie House, Richard Jefferson, Amir Johnson, Mark Madsen, Andre Miller, Jeff Pendergraph, Leon Powe, Brian Scalibrine, Dorrell Wright
that makes 43 current players that are from california. I played against a handful of guys in highschool that made it to the nba. Also, the local Junior college i went to produced guys like rafer alston and cedric ceballos. Just a lot of ball players in cali espectially the los angeles area
Dan E boy said it best, we have tons of talent
I say the DMV. The DMV has produced so many good HS, College, and NBA players. Let me give you a list of the players I know off the top of my head that came out of the DMV:
And their are some more players that deserve to be on that list but I just can't remember them. There are also a lot of good players that are currently in HS that are really good.
Baltimore and Chicago.
California has too many people, not fair. lol
But ...what about The Great's...Like Wilt and Kobe....Their from the Philly Area...Cali has a lot of role players and a lot of them were in schools Like UCLA, USC, Stanford and Arizona...AKA the NBA schools...Make a Starting Five of Players from Cali and they'll be destroyed by the Starters from Philly...
Who's better than Wilt and Kobe from Cali...Now after all That... I have to say I'm no Cali hater...In fact my first Love was from The LA Riverside(Aka The Bad Lands) section and I have a California Angel's emblem over my heart...They were also her initials but I'm still repping Cali every time I take off me shirt...
I agree with Philadelphia, we have Wilt,Kobe, Earl Monroe, then we also have Rasheed Wallace, Tyreke Evans, John Salmons, Hakim Warrick, Jameer Nelson, and Rasual Butler.
Historically...its NY...Cali has produced a lot of great guards, but that whole PG prospect that runs the show mystique, started in NYC.
^ Lance Stephenson
I didnt want to name recent guys, but three guys who are in college ball right now from my former high school are Kemba Walker, Durand Scott and Curtis Kelly
Give some love to the South!!! Let's check the roster:
Dominique & Damien Wilkins
Horace & Harvey Grant
Josh Smith (High School)
Jarvis & Jonas Hayes
Toney & Harry Douglas
i dont think whole states should count in this. cali, texas, and florida produce alot of talent because they are the most populated states. it should be cities ans their near suburbs. places like philadelphia, wash dc, seattle, nyc, houston, la, chicago, detroit etc.
Aite each state make a starting 5 who would win then?
Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Corey Magette, Quiten Richardson, Shaun Livingston (peoria technically), Andre Igudala and his new teammate Evan Turner, Shannon Brown, Will Bynum, Kevin Garnett (for a year), EDDY CURRY!!!! (ok ok I'll get back to 'real' basketball players), Tony Allen, Shawn Marion, Jannero Pargo, Julian Wright
Philadelphia Starting 5
PG: Earl Monroe
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: John Salmons/Aaron McKie
PF: Rasheed Wallace
C: Wilt Chamberlain
Here is DC/MD list:
KD, Roger Mason, Beasley, Patrick Patterson, Moochie Norris, Elign Baylor, Dave Bing, Kieth Bogans, Austin Carr, Roy Hibb, DeMarr Johnson, Tim Legler, Delonte West, James Flight White, Walt Williams, Joe Alexander, Muggusy Bouges, Josh Boone, Sam Cassel, Dante Cunningham, Juan Dixon, Steve Francis. Rudy Gay, Jeff green. donte greene, robert horry, jarret jack, ty lawson. arinze onauku. josh selby, dajuan summers.
Steve Francis/Ty lawson./Josh Selby
Eligin Baylo/Rudy Gay/Jame White :D
Hibbert/ Robery Horry
Pg-Earl "The Pearl" Monroe ,Sg- Tyreke "The Freak" Evans, Sf- Kobe "wait til everyone gets over their love for MJ" Bryant, Pf-Rasheed" Was there ever a Pf with more talent than me" Wallace and C -Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain ....Name a better Five than That...
Rasheed or Beasley??? Kobe or Durant??? Tyreke Evans or Elgin Baylor??? Earl Monroe or Steve Francis....???
When you go player for player in anyone's starting Five ...They'll fall way short of the Philly Team
Thank you for saying the Carolina's. Everyone thinks we are just a bunch of hicks but we can ball damnit!
North Carolina t
Steph Curry, John Wall
Thats a verrrrry good team
New York hands down.
Kareem, Artest, Brand, Odom, Kenny Anderson, Maurbary, Tiny Archabald, Cousy, Billy Cunningham, Julius Erving, Bernard King, Chris Mullin,
I could go all day.
I think because states like NY and Cali have more people they produce more quantity of players but check the Carolinas they produce better quality
Not to mention playground legend...Earl "The Goat" Mannigault...ask Kenny Smith (annother NY PG), he snatches a 20 off the back board and left change all in one setting!
Cmon everyone knows the greatest playground legend is Hook Mitchell!!
Now He was great but ...The Goat....I think not....Why wasn't he in the NBA??? I can name 50 guys like him....All hype no Action....Plenty of guys can make stupid claims...Think about it....If a 6'0 foot Earl the Goat can snatch a 20 off the top of the Glass and leave change....Why hasn't the 6'11 leaping Lizard Dwight Howard done it in the slam dunk contest???....Think about and try to answer that for me...It's because it can't be done...A little thing called Gravity ruined the myth a long time ago....Wilt's 100 point game though...That's a Fact/...You guys have failed to give me one C that could guard Wilt....Not 1 of your players can guard Kobe or Reke....Philly wins....Now get over yourselves NY....your players are always over hyped pieces of shyt...some one make a list for NY pieces of shyt...It'll be longer than the list of great players you just named...
Hook Mitchell went to jail alot of players like GP J Kidd them youngins up from oakland said he was the best player to never make its alot of videos of him doin dunks over cars and people but in the dvd there deleted scenes of full games were he is hitting shots and making plays
For the love of God shut yo dumb ass up! First off if you did any research on the guy I'm talking about, you would know that as a kid he played with ankle weights on, thus increasing his jumping ability tenfold. Like Hook Mitchell he squandered his talents by getting into it with the law and making all the wrond decisions but he became a community leader by sterring youth away from his path.
First off Kareem Abdul-Jabar is from NY so take that for your F'N Center! For a guy who's gullable enough to use video game ratings to judge real players, you talk way too much, and you don't know what your talking about!
Gotta show some love Texas too!
I'm a coach and I heard all the stories about Earl Monroe....
They are exactly that STORIES....Leg weights are your answer to the Laws of Gravity....Man why don't we send a man to space with the Hops he got from wearing Leg Weights....
Answer the Question Then....If Earl the Goat SmokeSomeDope could grab a 20 off the backboard and leave change...Why didn't VC or D12 do it in the Dunk Contest???....Oh wait they're not the athletes the Dope Using GOAT was....
Be 4 real...Why haven't anyone of the freak athletes of the NBA done it to win a slam dunk crown???
Answer...It's impossible you clown....
And I can see your a NY homer and you got upset about my Gallo and Chandler statements....
For the last time....Pick up a copy of the latest game(2k10 or Live) and tell me what professional game designers and their NBA employed scouts think about your Boys Gallo and Wilson...
They think they suck and the rest of the Fans of the NBA think the same thing...
Answer my questions first and then Tell me I have no Idea about Ball....
When i think Texas i think Football lol
Ankle Weights mess up ur knees lol
First off just judging from your statements, your not a coach your just some douchbag with a dirty fitted and a bum ass Phillies jersey.
1. Dwight Howard dunked on a 13 ft hoop...I'm pretty sure he could do that, if he thought of it dick mouth.
2. If video game desginers think they suck so much, then why in the 2k10 roster update, is Gallo a 72 from a 59...once again stop using a VIDEO GAME where anyone who's good enough can use Earl Boykins to break Wilt's record to judge actual talent.
3. Its Earl Mannigault not Earl MONROE....do you even know who your talking about??!!
Instead of getting in some flame war with some douch who bought NBA 2K10, won using a 3-2 zone and thinks he's a coach because of it, imma talk real basketball with real people with real brains...in your spare time go dry clean that fitted cap, its starting to smell
props to wizkid for giving a shout out to north carolina. we are very slept on state in terms of bball talent. if u want to add south carolina to it then you could add ray felton and ray allen to that list as they both played hs ball in sc. also kg before attending farraguat academy was born and raised and played hs ball in sc. our squad would win. chris paul, david thompson, michael jordan, james worthy and kg at the 5. other players from the carolinas
john wall , jerry stackhouse, pj tucker, jameson curry, stephen curry, bob mcadoo, phil ford and brendan haywood. look out for cj leslie too. he will be in the running wit kyrie irving for acc freshman of the year. and look out for my cousin eric mcknight. he a freshman at iowa state
There's no gravity in space to use ankle weights for benifits dickmouth!
I'm changing My profile pic just for you....I'll so you how much my hat and jersey smell(both brand new In my pics)...FYI...I make more money than you &$#%#&@!...
Yeah by coaching right :/ don't change your pic for me...do it for yourself, you mad because you look like a homeless Swizz Beats??!! I'm pretty sure I could snap on you all day but this is a basketball forum, just please stop I'm begging you for your sake.
Anyway, anyone else got some other states they like to talk about, no one mentioned Indiana...
No love for Jersey?
The great Brian Zoubek
