Big 10 NBA Prospects

Illinois:

Demetri McCamey- 6'3 PG with the ability to score and pass...Master pick and roll player..Has excellent strength...OK quickness...Decent shooter with improving range...Can drive to the rim and finish through contact....Needs to improve 3-point shot...Mediocre on D...A little ball-dominant...Lacks some athleticism...He should be a 1st rounder next year....Reminds me of a lesser version of former Illini PG Deron Williams

Jereme Richmond- Super athletic 6'6 guard..Long and wiry at 190...Looks really good on the break...Uses quickness to get in the lane...High defensive potential...Needs to work on his handle...Not a shooter year...Not great feel for the game...Has big potential, but he's a 2012 prospect

Mike Davis- Mismatch 6'9 combo forward with good talent...Long and wiry...Can face-up bigger matchups and post smaller ones...Soft touch...Has a nice shot with 18-20 ft range...Uses jump hooks and turnaround jumpers down low...Looks good passing the ball...Can put it on the floor...Lacks strength...Very narrow frame at 210 lbs...Shies from contact...Not a defensive player....Still, he has late 1st-early 2nd round 2011 potential...

Meyers Leonard- A 7 foot Euro-style big...Great shooter...Floor spacer...Can run the floor and block shots a little...Not a very good rebounder...Lacks strength (only 220 lbs)...Not a low post guy really...Not athletic, agile, or quick...Pretty stiff...Long term prospect

Indiana:

Maurice Creek- He's good...6'4 wing plays a seasoned game for a 19 year old...Looks good shooting the ball coming off of screens...Also a great slasher and finisher...Good mid-range game...Average athlete and ball-handler...Mediocre on D...1st round 2011 or 2012 prospect...Has a developed offensive game on the wing...

Michigan:

Darius Morris- The guy has long-term potential....Good athlete...Great on D...Can handle the ball well as a 6'4 SG...Not a big scorer or shooter, but he has the potential to be an NBA player in 2013...SLEEPER prospect down the line

Michigan State:

Kalin Lucas- The best PG in the NCAA...Excellent leader...Can play equally in half-court and transition...Nice quickness...Decent slasher...Strong mid-range game...Decent 3-point shot...Not all that great a pure playmaker at 6'0...Can play without the ball...Solid on-ball defender...Somewhat limited prospect due to average physical and athletic ability...Still, late 1st round 2011 guy...Perfect backup PG

Durrell Summers- 6'4 wing player with good talent and upside....Nice shot...Can score in transition...Great athlete...Not a shot-creator or ball-handler...Not very strong...Pretty low basketball IQ...Disappears for not only halves of games, but for stretches of a season...Always in Izzo's doghouse...2nd round prospect for next year

Draymond Green- How can you not like him? Seriously lol....Looks more like an Eating contest champ than a ball-player...Wide body at 250...Surprisingly light feet for his size...GREAT passing and rebounding skills...Can face-up and score a little..Also can post...Lacks athleticism...Limited on D because of 6'6 height and length for a PF...

Keith Appling- 6'2 FR combo guard with alot of speed...A slasher who is aggressive and excels in transition...Willing defender...Long-term prospect, but he's not all that great a prospect...Not a good shooter really or playmaker...

Minnesota:

Rodney Williams- Athletic freak with a huge wingspan...High defensive potential...Great dunker and transition guy...Bad handles...Not much shooting ability...He's a 2012-2013 guy

Northwestern:

John Shurna- Can shoot the ball very well....Combo forward...Floor spacer...Great passing skills for a combo forward...Also can post a little...Makes effort...Not much defensive or rebounding ability or potential

Ohio State:

Jared Sullinger- 6'8 250 Fr. PF...Knows how to play...Can pass, post up up, and has a dependable 15 footer...Long arms...Can put it on the floor...Tough...Great on the glass...Ambidextrous...Doesn't seem to have high upside...Not real athletic...Still, he's extremely good right now...Similar to a pre-injury Elton Brand

Will Buford- 6'6 wing shooter with good athleticism...Great in transition...Can come off of screens and score...OK on D...Not a good ball-handler...Can't create for himself...Not all that aggressive...2011 late 1st round prospect

David Lighty Jr.- A winner...Can shoot the ball from the wing...Tough on D...Strong body and a decent athlete...Unselfish...Not a talented scorer...Still, I'd take him in the 2nd round...Perfect glue guy for a contender

Penn State:

Talor Battle- Quick and talented 6'0 PG...Can score a little and pass the ball...Nice off the bounce...Good in the pick and roll for the most part, but can be trapped wedged and is turnover prone in those situations...Lacks athleticism...Pretty weak...Leader who steps up in the clutch...Similar to a shorter Goran Dragic to me

Purdue:

JaJuan Johnson- 6'10 PF who can face up and post a little....Nice pick and pop guy...Quick for his size...Active...Good offensive rebounder....Extremely weak... Narrow frame will make it super hard for him to put on much weight...Not a likely scorer in the NBA...Questionable transition to the NBA for him IMO...Still a late 1st-early 2nd round guy

E'Twaun Moore- 6'3 SG....Can score the ball...Strong jump shot especially from mid-range...Steady ball-handler...What position can he defend in the NBA?...Not a PG...

Robbie Hummell- 6'8 SF with some nice skills....Can shoot and handle the ball well...Fluid in his movements...Moves well without the ball...Not very gifted athletically of physically...Limited defensive potential....Similar player to Gordon Hayward

Wisconsin:

Jon Leuer- A 6'10 floor spacing PF...Good shooter...Rather average rebounder...Not good on D...Bad athlete...Weak and skinny..Similar to Matt Bonner

Mr Iggy. I like all of this

Mr Iggy. I like all of this but one.

I disagree on Myles Leonard not being athletic. I think he's very similar to Mason Plumlee. Leonard's athleticism isin't off the chart but I've seen some explosive dunks and some impressive moves.

Also, I'm really high on Creek. He had some James Harden when I seen him.

I haven't watched Leonard

I haven't watched Leonard play much, but he seems like Mike Tisdale, who's already on Illinois' team when I have watched. Looks like a 3-point shooting big who lacks the athleticism, strength and toughness to bang.

For Northwestern what about

For Northwestern what about Kevin Coble just came off an injury that kept him out all year he single handly beat Michigan State in 2009 and Michigan State what about Adrien Payne and Korie Lucious and for Illinois how do you forget Mike Tisdale he was their best player last year and made the U.S select team and what about Diebler Nbadraft.net has him as a late second rounder also what about Brandon Paul and D.J richardson on Illinois and Jereme Richmond is really underrated he is very versaitaile but great post other then those ommisions

I'm a Badger

I go to school in Madison. As a Badger, and someone who follows the Big Ten, I've seen Jon Leuer around, and there is no way in hell he's 6' 10". I was with one of my friends who is 6'3', and Leuer was maybe a few inches taller than him. I'd say he's 6' 7", *maybe* 6' 8" at best. But Bonner seems to be a decent comparison- Bo Ryan loves his "big" guys that don't have big guy skills.

That said, good analysis on the Big Ten prospects! Personally, I think Sullinger, Lucas, Rodney Williams, and McCamey will be the only pro's here. Hummel and Johnson have a shot, but other than that, I can't really see any of these guys playing NBA ball. Possibly in Europe, but not NBA.

Robbie Hummel does not handle

Robbie Hummel does not handle the ball well. He is more of a spot up or catch and shoot player. Not the ball handling or fluidity of Hayward, more of a Wesley Johnson without the athleticism.

The fact that he does not

The fact that he does not handle the ball much and that is not one of his strengths. You were wrong about Jeremy Linn when I corrected you and that got proven the next day and your wrong about this. Get over it

I said he didn't play PG for

I said he didn't play PG for that 1 game (which he didn't) and played very mediocre. The whole reason he played so great the Washington game was because he was allowed to play PG and he played better with the ball in hands.

Why would he not play pg and

Why would he not play pg and play very mediocre the one game you saw and play pg and play very well and solid the rest of the games? He didn't magically get a whole lot better and switch positions over night. He was the backup point guard every game he played and played with the same good basketball IQ and guts whenever he was in. The only thing that changed were his increase of minutes every game.

You've never heard of a guy

You've never heard of a guy switching from on the ball to off the ball before and getting a lot better?

Tyreke Evans switching from SG to PG at Memphis? Lance Stephenson improvement after playing off the ball at Cincy to how he looked when given the chance to play PG for Indiana in SL?

Some players operate better with the ball as opposed to off the ball. That's exactly what seemed to happen with Jeremy Lin in the SL.

This is directly from Draft

This is directly from Draft Express:

For a player like Hummel it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the majority of his touches result in him catching and shooting rather than attacking the basket off the dribble.

From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Robbie-Hummel-5143/#ixzz0uGTHnJtB
http://www.draftexpress.com

As versatile of a player as Hummel is, his threat as a scorer starts to diminish when he puts the ball on the floor.

Draftexpress ALSO says he has good handles so.....what's your point. He's obviously better shooting the ball than attacking, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good ball-handler

Haha...not from one game to

Haha...not from one game to the next in the summer league. There was a plan going in for the players you mentioned and I agree with both of them. The Mavericks brought JL in as a back up point guard and that's what he played every game in the Summer League. He was more effective because he got more minutes as the coaches and everyone else saw what he could do

In Dallas' 1st game he saw no

In Dallas' 1st game he saw no time at PG, I sat there and watched him play off the ball lol. Beaubois and Dominique Jones played PG, Lin played very limited miniutes and played exclusively at SG. I watched that one close because I wanted to see how Jones and Beaubois would play. Lin saw no time at PG that game, I swear to Jesus up above on that.

Alright this was my original

Alright this was my original statement about Hummel:

"Robbie Hummel does not handle the ball well. He is more of a spot up or catch and shoot player. Not the ball handling or fluidity of Hayward, more of a Wesley Johnson without the athleticism."

I'm not saying when he tries to dribble he dribbles it off his foot and out of bounds. I'm sure he's great weaving in and out of cones with the ball and he's not going to get it stolen when hes dribbling at the top the key unguarded. I'm saying he's not effective off the dribble.

The only reason I included

The only reason I included his handle was because he's a perimeter player who I wrote extensively about....I wasn't going to leave a perimeter players perimeter skill out of this...So I said "he can shoot and handle the ball"...You said "Hummel doesn't handle the ball well"...and you were wrong. So I checked you on it.

And I also sat and watched

And I also sat and watched the summer league game and also swear to Jesus above. Dominique Jones was brought in to play shooting guard and that's what he played every game. Jeremy Linn was brought in to play point guard and that's also what he played every game. For some reason you thought they switched the first game. But you are wrong on nothing so I'll give you another point because I know that's what you really want. Your welcome.

Well, Jesus is gonna strike

Well, Jesus is gonna strike on of us for lying on him LMAO....And I'll be damned if it was me. I don't care enough about Jeremy Lin, you, or the Summer League to lie on God about something I could be wrong about LOL

Oh, and you couldn't have been watching close since you said "Dominique Jones was brought in to play SG and that what he played all game." The announcers watching the game were talking about him playing PG, and he was matched up John Wall and Ty Lawson on multiple occasions on both ends during the Nuggets and Wizards games.

really Mike Tisdale will

really Mike Tisdale will never play in the NBA if Jon Leur has a chance then so does he a 6-10 big men with a good face up game I belive that if he has a strong senoir season he could get into late first round and if you watched any Illinois games last year you would see that he was by far their best player

"if you watched any Illinois

"if you watched any Illinois games last year you would see that he was by far their best player"

Yeah.....Better than All-America pick Demetri McCamey huh?....Now do YOU watch Illinois games? That's the real question. He's not better than Mike Davis either.

And Jon Leuer is more productive than Tisdale is, much more so, and he's more capable of playing down low. Would Tisdale play in the NBA as a 7'1 230 lb C, who shoot 3's, is a poor rebounder, isn't a great passer, and is poor in the low post offensively? I'd say no...

He is way more consistent

He is way more consistent then Mike Davis was , Mike davis is not better then Tisdale and McCamey was undoublty the leader of the team but he was not the best player was Tisdale was he constantly drew double teams and was a consistent prescence in the post and the anchor of their offense and looking at the big man in the NBA today you really don`t think their is a place for a 7-1 Center in the NBA

Yeah I"m pretty sure Gatens

Yeah I"m pretty sure Gatens is the only solid guy that hasn't transfered.

I was so exited about Aaron Fuller, dude is a bit of a tweener but I was at a game where he absolutly abused Deshaun Sims for like 32 points, just backed him down all game.

Then he went to Arizona...

Also if Mike Davis was better

Also if Mike Davis was better then him then he would of the made the select team over him also we can all agree that Illinois will have a stacked team next year with Demetri McCamey, Brandon Paul, D.J Richardson, Jereme Richmond and a talented frontcourt wth Mike Davis, Mike Tisdale and Meyers Leonard coming off the bench

@DeMarcus Oneal You don't

@DeMarcus Oneal

You don't honestly believe Mike Tisdale is better, more valuable, or anything that would give the appearance of him being better than Demetri McCamey. That's retarded and you know it.

And Tisdale was the main problem with Illinois, they had too many finesse bigs and couldn't feed a big man down low to slow the game down or defend other big men effectively if the other team had bangers or face-up players. The reason? Because Tisdale is too weak to defend bangers, and too stiff and unathletic to defend face-up guys with quickness. He was a problem more than a "valuable piece"

A Select team doesn't mean

A Select team doesn't mean much when you take in account they don't play the same position. Tisdale is more of a floor spacer than Davis. Doesn't mean he's a better player, because he's not. Simply means he's a better floor spacer, which is probably what they Select team needed.

I believe that Tisdale was

I believe that Tisdale was better last year as he drew constant double teams and allowed more room for the guards to operate ala Paul Richardson McCamey and McCamey made some bad decison making that led to Illini losing some very important games near the end of the season but you have a valid point
