In your opinion who is the best pg and who is the best pf in the NBA? I think it’s safe to say the best sg, sf, and c in the league are pretty clear (harden, Lebron, Dwight) but I was trying to figure out who are the best players at each position and I came up with this:

    1. Pg. Chris Paul
    2. Sg. James Harden
    3. Lebron James
    4. Blake Griffin
    5. Dwight Howard

I believe the clippers have the best pg and pf in the game.

also the rockets have the best sg and center in the game.

Westbrook and Parker r equal at #2 behind paul

Love and Aldridge r equal at #2 behind griffin.

Yeah I’d probably agree with that. I don’t really like pidgeonholing SGs and SFs into those spots because really, I’d take George, Durant, Westy over Harden even if they aren’t technically Shooting Guards. I agree that Paul and Howard are the top PG and C. Griffin, Love, and Aldridge all can make legit cases for the top PF spot. I don’t think any of those 3 would be the wrong choice because they all are so close.

Only change I would make is swapping Griffin for Love.

Part of being the best is being a 2 way player…and Harden maybe the worst defensive SG in the league

PF. To me the best in NBA is between Duncan and Nowitzki.

Now before you rip my head off let me explain why, firstly I believe Duncan is capable of more, but is playing very well within the Spurs system. When he is required to step up he casually steps up a gear and does what is necessary.

Nowitzki on the face of it is the only guy that has pushed this Spurs team to their limit, granted with some great help from Ellis.

To me the measure of a great player is winning and all though Aldridge, Love and Griffin put up great numbers you plug them into them into the Mavs or Spurs those teams are not as good when it counts (play offs).

First of all Duncais a center. Second of all, anyone who thinks Dirk is better than Griffin at this point needs to have their head examined. Griffin just dominates people. If anyone saw that Mavs Clips game right at the end of the regular season it wasn’t even close who was the better PF. Everything the Clips do offensively is based on the fact that Griffin is either going to kill another power forward on the block, get doubled and give them an open shot, or force a center to guard him and open up the lane.

He splits time at the Center position, but will forever be mentioned as the greatest PF ever.

It’s not 2004 anymore……it’s 10 years later……Tim Duncan is the greatest PF of all time based on his career and him at his best but neither him nor Dirk are better than Love, Aldridge, and Griffin TODAY.

Exactly, Duncan isn’t the best PF in the game right now.  Best PF ever, surely.  But you’re right, Love, Aldridge, and Griffin are all better today.

I think Anthony Davis is close to Griffin, Aldridge and Love. Defensively he is light years above those 3 and not to mention the fact he has a mid range game, improved post game and excels at facing the rim. He averaged 20 points without an elite guard to create for him (Holiday got injured), so I think it’s fair to say Davis may become the best PF in the league sooner as opposed to later.

I wonder if Westbrook would be considered the best sa in the league if he played his natural position more than the point. The best pf title right now is not indisputed honestly and would vary on the preference of who you ask. Anyone can make a solid argument for love, Aldridge or griffin. And lastly, personally I don’t consider Howard as the best center in the league anymore, I honestly would take marc gasol over him due to his complete game. Marc may not put the occasional high scoring game of Howard, but gasol could completely fascilitate an offense from the post on what end while being the back bone and mainstay of his teams defense.

I believe that if phill Jackson was given one player he can pair with melo who is not tabbed a superstar yet, it would be marc gasol. And if there was one player popovich would be comfortable to take over duncans role on the team once he retires, it would be marc gasol as well.

I would like to say though that thinking about it further, you can describe joakim Noah in the same light regarding on who coach Phil and pop would like on their teams.

PF is the toughest position. There is literally 5 guys that you could have at 1-5. Griffin, Aldridge, Duncan, Davis, Love. Love is the best statistically but the worst defensive player. Imo it will be Davis by next year because he has the most defensive ability.

PG its still definitely Paul for me. Though his team success in the playoffs has been disappointing, He’s the most well rounded and most consistent. Westbrook, Curry, Parker are 2-4 for me. At 5 its pretty much just about what you prefer. A big group of guys who have their own strengths and weaknesses. I tend to prefer Lilliard there.

Duncan is better than all those guys TODAY. None of those guys could ever win championships like Duncan has and would never make the sacrifices that Duncan has had to make. Too much weight is put on regular season stats. They really don’t mean anything. At the end of the day, if i need to feed the ball down low and get a bucket, Im picking Duncan over all those guys. He is one of the most dependable players of all time and still is to this day.
