i think besides john wall..the rookie of the year will be between Blake And Cousins!!
    there both big fallas.
i think every game would matter and i cant waitt until kings vs clippers and see who wins the fight!!
but i think evan turner will finish in the top 5 but watching his summer league games Cousins looks stronger than him in ponits and rebounds…but like i said we already know wall is a good player!
but to give wall a compettion its between blake and demarcus

i really underestimated cousin’s passing ability and his range this can be a monster especially at 19 he’s light years away from any other big men when they were 19

Its between Blake and Cousins in no way do I see Agent 0 letting Wall be the man for the Wiz. Wall has game but people are writing off Gil like he is some scrub. I think it will be Cousins he will average a double double as his coach has shown he will let a rookie come in and play their game, and dont discount Turner because of summer league

i also agree with u on the cousins and blake being in the running but i no longer see evan turner in the top 3 as i did before the season. i kno he has to adjust to playing off the ball but i was not impressed with his summer league play

Cousins is looking really strong, and he will play big minutes with no other big men surrounding him. So the stats will be there, Griffin could be an option if Baron Davis learns to share the ball. Turner will be there too due to the fact that he will be in possession of the ball a lot. I agree that if Arenas stays healthy (A BIG IF!) Wall will not get the numbers as expected, but he will be solid…Wes Johnson will just simply not be a star in this league, I don’t see it. He’s already too much like his teammate, Corey Brewer…

I think Cousins has a legit chance. I have always been enamored with his footwork and post moves. For all the sh-t Calipari gets (deservedly), he sure got Cousins into the post and away from his high school dribble and chuck days. If he gets touches, look out! Blake needs someone to set him up and since he will be playing with the human turnover machine Baron Davis that may not happen too often. BDiddy either takes a bad shot or turns the ball over. What happened? But that is for another thread.

i could see greg monroe in there because sacramento has tyreke and jason thompson as established players and the clippers have alot of individual talent that could prevent blake getting numbers, washingtons best player plays the same position as wall, turner has no shooters to help give him space. i mean im not giving the award to anybody but could see monroe in there.

    possible first year numbers:

    john wall- 17ppg, 3rpg, 5apg
    evan turner- 14ppg, 5rpg, 4apg
    demarcus cousins- 15ppg, 9rpg, 2apg
    blake griffin- 13ppg, 8rpg, 2apg
    greg monroe- 16ppg, 8rpg, 3apg

these numbers are best possible scenario, and i dont expect all of them to have those numbers but they have the ability to get them depending on minutes, role, etc.

I expect Wall to average more than 5 ast
I think Griffin will average more points even with B Diddy they will make it a point to get him the rock inside
Monroe who I love will average not average that many points his first year to unassertive

If cousins doesnt let his attitude and immaturity get the best of him, he has the talent to be the best player out of this draft

It is a tough year to predict. Many of the top picks are going to have camp battles to win before they even start.

Wall and Griffin are guaranteed to get big minutes. Wall will have the ball, but he will have more competition (with Hinrich and Arenas) than Griffin. As of now, Griffin’s competition is Craig Smith, Ryan Gomes (more of a SF), DeAndre Jordan (more of a C), Brian Cook, and Brian Skinner. Griffin can slide to C some if they need as well, as he is a strong man. His only real concerns will be fouls and injuries. Other than that he should get lots of minutes.

Rebounds could be a concern, as he will be in the post with Kaman (around 9rpg) and Jordan (5rpg in 16 min) a lot of the time. Also consider that Aminu and Gomes will be playing the SF. Both should be good rebounders at the 3.

Cousins – will have some serious camp battles on his hands (the SAC front court is deep), and the coaches will want to push him to keep him motivated (as they should).

Aside from those guys, there are not really anyone else in the lottery at this point that has the automatic big minutes, aside from maybe Greg Munroe (who has quite a few vets to hold off – CV31, Ben Wallace, Maxiel, Jerebko, and Wilcox), Gordon Hayward (who does not project to be a huge stats guy in his first year and could come off the bench behing Kirilenko).

Based on PT and ability is probably going to come down to Griffin and Wall, unless Sacramento moves a big or two.

Of couse injuries will play a huge role as well.

Cousins will have the issue that Curry had in not starting right away. John Wall will probably be the most annoyingly discussed thing in the NBA outside of the trio in Miami so barring injury, it’s pretty much his to lose.

Not to sound like a hometown guy but outside of Cousins and Turner, the next choice for roty might have to go Lance as he will be on, in all likelihood, an out of contention team which means he will see large amounts of playing time. Other than maybe Jordan Crawford, no other players from the draft are as ready to score in the NBA as Lance and have the same opportunity for playing time.

I remember watching Cousins in that High school AA game, and he suprised me alot with his perimeter skills. He has a nice looking mid range jump shot, as well as handles that for a guy his size are really impressive, as well as his passing ability. He didnt need to do alot of that kind of stuff at Kentucky with Wall and Patterson on board. But I think he has alot of skills other then just brute size. I think he has the talent to be a 20 and 10 type of player, not his rookie year, where i think he can be a 14 to 16 ppg and 8 rpg guy, but I just dont trust him to be able to stay the course on a team taht is quite frankly gooing to be losing alot.

I still think Evan Turner is going to be the best player out of this draft class. I dont care what he does in summer league, I think he’s got the ability to be a 20-5-5 type of guy, and very quickly. I think he’s the most likely to be a stud and the least likely to be a bust. I also really like Greg Monroe, I think he could be the 2nd best player in this draft class. He is one of the most skilled big guys to come around in a long time, and he is going to get alot of PT early on cuz Detroit has nothing inside.

I’m curious as to what Washington plan to do with Gilbert Arenas, cuz didnt they just trade to Kirk Hinrich, cuz he’s another solid point guard. I’ve always been a big fan on Hinrich and I think he’s the perfect glue guy to have on a good team.
