Ben McLemore

Only averaging 6.5 PPG in tournament play and shooting a terrible 20% from the field and 0% from the 3, also averaging 3 TO's per game to only 2 APG.

Any cause for concern?

We know alot of people who are fringe prospects can do good in the tourney and skyrocket their stock, I don't think Ben falls out of the top 3 regardless to how the rest of his tourney games play out, but do you guys see him slipping or not?

Me personally I don't.

Nerves

He's just a bit nervous, he is a freshman albeit redshirt.

He'll get over it, scouts won't be worried at all.

He picked a BAD Time to go

He picked a BAD Time to go into a Slump..Becuz in a very weak draft with no clear cut favorites for the 1st Overall pick,he could've played himself into the consensus choice...But if Kansas can win a few more games and he plays well, he can redeem himself....I think when its all said and done he's going to be a top 5 selection.......

This class

This class....you just want somebody to take control and say "I'm the man". The number one pick is up for grabs, that'd encourage the hell out of me let alone a talented player.

You can't throw a player

You can't throw a player under the bus for a couple bad games, but it's still the same criticizm I've had for him all year...timidness with the ball in his hands. His shot isn't broken, he just needs to re-group and get his head on straight. I've been patient with him all year, hoping it would click and he would realize he's a takeover offensive player. It's not too late, but if he doesn't before the season ends, I'd have to think he'd be a 3-8 player instead of a legit top 1 or 2 pick.

I still maintain he's a high ceiling/ high floor player, but if he looks like a 2nd or 3rd option instead of a first, then I don't know if teams will still look at him with the 1st pick. It might end up going back to Noel being the favorite #1, because neither Smart, Porter or Bazz really raised their stock in the tourney either.

Definitely solid SG. But that

Definitely solid SG. But that seems about it. Draft him, stick him at SG and you are done for that position, but you haven't made a significant move toward a championship.

This kid is good

He is silky smooth with a good jumper. The comparison to Ray Allen is spot on. He gets so much lift when he shoots, NBA hasn't seen a pure SG like him in a while.

Also he has wayyyyyy more potential than anyone in this draft, save for Nerlens Noel. I think he goes 1 because of Noel's injury. I love Marcus Smart, and it is possible a team goes for the sure thing and drafts him first, but as a prospect he's not on the same level as McLemore. Otto Porter is overrated. I like Anthony Bennet a lot, but I don't think he is a 1, could squeeze into the top 4 though.

I think the remainder of the tournament is an opportunity for him to solidify his 1 spot, but I can't see him falling out of the top 3.

Hope he picks it up. Was watching the game with a buddy and had a hard time showing him he could be the #1 pick.

Who would pass him

McLemore hasn't played that well in the tournament, but at least he's still in it. Smart, Bazz, and Porter all got bounced in the round of 64. Zeller isn't worth taking higher than McLemore in my eyes, and Noel has the ACL problem to deal with. Unless Zeller goes off in the tournament, McLemore can't really fall that low because of mediocre play.

I don't know but to be I see

I don't know but I see a Jason Richardson type of career for McLemore. to me that's a more suiting comparison than Ray Allen. The thing that separates Allen from the others is that he's a stone cold killer and assassin with "star" qualities. I just don't get that from Ben at all. Jrich was a explosive finisher and good three point shooter (and is actually pretty high on the all time 3pt's made list at 13th all-time) with a game that to me almost mirrors McLemore's. At his best Jrich was an extremely solid fringe Allstar type player who was good for around 18-22ppg 5-6rpg 2-3ast.

I think its concerning if you

I think its concerning if you want to pick him Number 1 overall. You would like to see a sign of a franchise player, not a freshman who is "nervous". I like Ben, I think he is a very good player, and hope he has a good NBA career. But his weak tourney, and some of the other bad performances by lottery picks just continue to make this draft look like weak.

But who in this draft do you

But who in this draft do you see as a franchise player? I'm sure in a couple years we will look back and see some awesome players coming out of this class, but at this point it is really hard to tell since nobody has had a college career that has blown anyone away.

I don't see how this WOULDN'T

I don't see how this WOULDN'T be a MAJOR red flag for #1 overall. The dude has that sexy blend of athleticism and shooting ability but lacks the killer instinct. It's the end of his 2nd year of college. A guy with his skillset shouldn't be this passive in March of his 2nd year.

"He, who hesitates, is lost."

Give me Otto Porter, a dude who's willing to pull the trigger.

The game Friday has the

The game Friday has the potential to completely erase his 1st two tourney performances. If he drops 20 or even hits his season average against Michigan ( a team with 3 projected 1st rounders this season) people won't care about what he did in games against Western Kentucky and North Carolina ( where he sat most of the 2nd half once the game got blown open ).

Anthony Davis went 1-10 in his last college game, and no one cared when the draft rolled around.
