Fresh off of a ineligeble season last year, McLemore is putting up pretty great numbers on a solid Kansas team. I haven’t watched any of the Kansas games so can anyone describe his game to me? And do you think he is gone after this year? I know they’ve only played three games, but this is a draft website so why not predict?

    His numbers so far are:
    16 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1 STL, 1.3 BPG, 27% 3P, 33 MPG.

He’s a great athlete, and uses his first step to attack the paint really well. He’s got solid size and nice length, and has a nice midrange game as well as a solid deep ball. Good defender, pretty unselfish and a decent playmaker. He lacks high level ball-handling ability and needs to improve his IQ. Lacks strength and just needs to continue to work on refining his skills, he’s fairly raw at this point.

This kid is nasty.  I can’t call him raw because he’s actually pretty polished as far as knowing how to move and picking his spots. He’s got a pretty stroke with great elevation. Very quick first step off the catch. Runs like a gazelle in the open court.  He doesn’t play wild or selfishly either, displaying solid shot selection and pretty decent passing ability.  He’s already solid defensively, playing with good intensity.  He’s got a lot of potential on that end.  He’s also not afraid to hustle after loose balls.  This kid has come light yrs after sitting out last yr.  I didn’t get to see him play at Oak Hill, but I did see him play AAU ball with B.Beal, and back then I thought that Ben looked like the better pro prospect because of his better athleticism and slashing ability to complement his pretty shooting stroke.

Not counting Shabazz, Goodwin and McLemore to me are the best 2 SG prospects in this draft.  People have been comparing him to Brandon Rush, but I think that’s just a convenient comparison since he’s at KU.  He’s sleeker and more explosive than Brandon.  I’m currently debating b/t Archie and Ben and it’s tough because Archie is 2 yrs younger, but Ben looks like he has the more mature, NBA ready game wit ha better jumper, while also having star potential.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the past two KU games, but interesting that he’s already seemingly shed the raw label. I’m with you in terms of debating him or Goodwin, both are very talented and like you said it’s really tough to pick between them. This is a very talented class of shooting guards, and those two seem a notch above everyone outside of Shabazz (who I’m so excited to watch soon!).

Yeah, after reading what Coach Self had to say about Ben before the season, I was expecting a much rawer product.  He has really surprised me with his floor game and shot selection, but that’s just up to this point.  Those are really good early signs though.

I would compare him favorably to Tony Allen, when Allen was coming out of Oklahoma St. Very similar body type, athleticism and brings the same skill-set to the table.

Nah, this kid can shoot.  His J looks effortless. His handles aren’t nearly as good as Tony’s were either.  He also needs to put on some pounds whereas Tony was jacked.

saw him for the first time, last game drop like 25-4-3… i would put him in the lotto.

good eye siggy, you were the first person i remember with him in the lotto. i think he is a better prospect than Kentavious so… you’re right imo ((not counting Ledo and Shabazz)) Goodwin and McLemore are the top 2 sg prospect…

I’ve seen all 3 games and both exhibition games, and the sky is really the limit for this kid.  He has the obvious physical tools, in length, athleticism, and size, but he really has a nice shot, both off the screen and spot up.  He’s got a pretty well rounded game for a young player and apparently he’s a first in last out of the gym type of guy.

Since he’s a Redshirt, and got to practice with a team that went to the NCAA championship, he’s not your typical first year player. In my opinion, he has the tools, and athletic ability, and he just needs to figure out that he is the main guy on this Kansas team, and I think he will by the start of 2013. If he puts it all together, it’s pretty easy to imagine this guy as a 20 ppg scorer in the NBA.

That’s a solid comparison. I think Ben’s quicker though, both in terms of first step and lateral quicks.  He moves more fluidly as well.
