It is time to start considering Beejay Anya as an NBA prospect. Beejay Anya is a sophmore for NC State and has the largest wingspan in hoops history.

His wingspan is 7’9” and he has a 9’3” standing reach. He is very raw and came into his freshman year extremely overweight. He is now down to 300 lbs, and is a more agile player. He still has a lot of work to do on his body to translate to an NBA player.

So far in his sophmore season we are finally seeing the potential of his unreal wingspan pay off. A few days ago he blocked 10 shots in only 25 minutes vs Jacksonville. Today he had another 5 blocks.

While Beejay still has a lot of developing to do its time to officially start keeping an eye on this guy as he will become one of the best shot blockers in college basketball over the next few years.

     His 10 block highlights

As someone who watched almost every State game last year and all four this year, you’re on point with Beejay’s improvement.  I wouldn’t call him more than a second round pick at this point because he still needs to drop another 20 pounds and work on his lateral quickness quite a bit but there’s no doubt that he’s a beast in the lane defensively.  He excels at help side defense and just seems to patiently in the lane and times his jumps extremely well.

He’s got a lot of work to do and he’ll be a four year player but there’s no doubt he’s got some NBA level skill.  If he can continue taking baby steps forward with his weight and potentially develop a 8-10 foot jump shot then he’ll get a look from NBA teams.

Don’t know that he’ll ever project as a first rounder but if he continues on the weight loss program he’s been on this summer then his ceiling gets a lot higher.

He came to the Les Schwab invitational in Portland as a Freshman or Sophomore and seemed to be about twice as big as anyone else there. I had never seen someone so physically dominant before and it was impressive.

He has nice touch and decent atheleticism, if he continues to work on his body I don’t see why he wouldn’t get a shot in the NBA.
