Baylor's Bright Future
Their going to be the longest/lankiest team next season. They have 3 guys in their line up that are 6'10 or taller, and that doesn't include Quincy Miller who is 6'9.
If only that equaled wins. If it did then they would have been very dangerous last year because they were easily one of the longest and most athletic teams in the nation (Acy is only 6'7-6'8 though)
The biggest question for the will be the growth of the pg walton,he flat out lost them games last year over penetrating and forcing bad shots. If he can learn from his mistakes, learn to pick his spots better not only can he make those very talented and lanky guys better, but he can also be more effected in his own offense
This will be a interesting team. Jones and Acy,And the other Jones lost them games as well with bad defense, bad basketball IQ and selfish play. Hopefully they fixed that problem ( Perry didn't really play selfish and stayed within his skill set for the most part not tryna do too much like a bunch of coast to coast or jumpers)
They need solid PG play to improve to a championship level, and I also think they need to get rid of playing zone all game 2. Good for Perry he will improve. I would still take him 1 in this draft.
I bet any amount of money Perry Jones will leave with Barnes coming back and Sullinger he's guaranteed top 5 plus with the NCAA infractions I'm sure he'll get suspended it isnt worth it
I want to know how Quincy Miller & Perry Jones will work together on the court at the same time.
Quincy Miller will play the four and Perry the five when they are ont he court together assuming Miller comes off the bench. If he starts he will play the three although he has some work to do in that area beause he still does't have the SF position down pat
Actually i take that back. I'm thiing of Macadoo because i was reading something on him while typing. Miller will play the SF and possile more to the SG when they wanna start a big long line up
How much of a factor will Bello be on offense? I really don't know much about his defensive capabilities. I assume he is an okay shot blocker since he is a great leaper.
Carolina was looking at Pierre Jackson to be their back-up PG with WithDrew gone. Saw a lot of footage of him at his JC. Very good scoring PG and very explosive to the rim. I liked him more than &$#%#&@! Stillman White.
Bears got a good one there.
I wanna see how this team does,
They havce one of the best if not THE Best frontline in college basketball
With Quincy Acy,Perry Jones and Quincy Miller - J'mison Morgan and Anthony Jones soming off the bench
But no solid point guard. Aj walton is an average point guard and as BKKknicks fan most college teams need a good point guard. They have solid but not spectacular guards with Deuce bello ciming in replacing LaceDarius Dunn. And pierre jackson coming in (though he probably wont have alot of playign time). Its a very interesting team to say the least. I want to know who they will set as their go-to guy will it be Jones Or Miller? If this team glues and realizes their potential they could overcome this very dissapointing season and be a NCAA Championship contender.
dont forget after next year they also get the 7 foot tall .......
Isaiah Austin
who lives in the same city as me and see him at lifetime man is he tall but you can deffiantly tell he needs for muscle just on first glance
I'm a Baylor fan, so their is a bias, but this team has a good chance to make a deep run in March. AJ Walton will not be our point guard with Jackson coming in. Jackson is closer to a Tweety Carter type of PG and has good bball IQ. Last year was certinaly dissapointing, but I feel we will be much better with Lace Dunn gone. He would have some great shooting nights, but as the focus of the team he was terrible. Bad decisions every game.
I can see our line up being
1 - Jackson/Walton/Franklin
2 - Heslip/Franklin/Bello
3 - Miller/A. Jones
4 - P. Jones/A. Jones
5 - Acy/Jefferson/Morgan
Can't wait to watch all the new guys. Should be a fun year.
We could role out a line up of Miller, P. Jones, A. Jones, Jefferson, Acy. Miller and P Jones can run point. That would be a line up of 6'9", 6'11", 6'10", 6'10", 6'8".
With good offensive players then the PG's role could almost become a supporting one like say the Heat's PG or Fisher at the Lakers. They just do the defensive work and a bit of ball carrying without need to penetrate etc.
With the likes of Perry Jones and Harrison Barnes returning I wonder if some of this year's freshman college intake may have to stay two years as well if they cannot get a set starters role with returning stars taking their places.
If any of the freshmen happened to get ahead of the returning sopohomores then the 2nd year guy's draft level could fall as NCAA coaches will surely field their strongest teams regardless of college seniority.
I think they will still come out like Marvin Williams did.
And that no pg thing works when you run the triangle or have 2 of the best players in the world on you're team. Baylor doesn't run the triangle nor do they have two of the best players in the world so they are gonna need solid pg play
( needs to be able to control the offense, get the players the ball in the right position because this isn't a team full of guys who can create alot for themselves, and he has to hit the open shot) i hear the Juco kid coming in is pretty good plus Walton will bring another year of experience. They should be a NCAA team but i don't see them being anything more than a sweet 16 team. Very athletic but too many guys with averge to below average basketball IQ's
cward, yes I have seen Perry play in high school and every Baylor home game. I was making a light hearted comment about PJ or Miller running the point. Just saying it is possible to have that line up. PJ did run the point some last year.
It probably wont happen as the juco pg will be our starter from day one and if this team is not in the final 4 it will be a dissapointment. Our bball iq you speak of just went up 100 points with lace dunn leaving and another 50 points with Jackson coming in and Walton getting less minutes.
I think Stargell Love and Jackson will take alot of Walton's time. Walton was a guy I've never liked much, even as a Fr. When Tweety Carter was out of the games and Walton was the PG, the other team almost always managed to make a run. I remember thinking, "man Baylor better invest in a PG when Tweety graduates." Walton was bad last year managing the team. Turnover prone and he was bad at making good decision with playmaking and shooting.
Baylor will have ridiculous athleticism and talent next year though all through their roster. If a PG emerges they will be an Elite 8 level team.
What are your thoughts now?

Baylor just hit the jackpot "again", they really have a bright future ahead of them for the 11-12 season. Hopefully this will translate over to key wins & a NCAA Tourney run next year. On the bright side they return everyone from this year's team except 1 player which is Dunn.
