akhan786ParticipantWhat the?
Damn Batum…
I don’t remember seeing something that dirty in a basketball game in a while…
I didn’t watch the game does anybody know why he f*cking neutered Juan Carlos Navarro?

akhan786ParticipantLol
"When Batum was asked why he punched Navarro in the groin, he responded by saying, “I wanted to give him a good reason to flop”."

paint intruderParticipantFrance started to get chippy because they gave the lead away with just about 3 minutes to go in der 4th.
They scored 4 points in the final quarter up to that moment.
Prior to Batum punching Navarro, Turiaf already grounded Rudy Fernandez.
There’s little sportsmanship involved as far as accepting a loss…0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/08/2012 - 8:21am #704355

Eric_GuilleminaultParticipantSo what Batum did was completely out of line but he was pissed off at Rudy Fernandez. It was 57 – 58 Spain when Batum goes for a offensive rebound and jumps up with one and hand pushes slightly with the other hand on Rudy Fernandez. Rudy Fernandez jumps and flys to exagerating the moment and hits the ground hurting his back. Batum was upset because he felt Fernandez flopped on that play. While he flopped he really did hurt his back but there were less than 2 minutes and it gave Spain 2 free throws that he then converted giving Spain a critical 3 point lead. Next time Fernandez has the ball Turiaf hip checks him because they are down three with less than a minute in the game. Ferandez jumps forward, lands in a push up position and immediately winces in pain touching his back. They call that foul an intentional foul (2 shots plus the ball). Calderon comes in to shoot the free throws for Ferandez whose back appears truly tight. But to the French team he flopped twice while the game was still not decided and got the benfit of the call both times witrh less than 2 minutes in the game. What Batum did to Navarro was wrong. Navarro had nothing to do with what Rudy did, but you asked what pissed Batum off: it was Fernandez flopping and getting calls at critical moments of when the game could have gone either way. But no excuse to hit a player in the nuts or to punch someone. I really love watching Batum play but it’s very disappointing to see this reaction from him.

mercyman25ParticipantOlympic basketball has no honor. First that no namer from Argentina caps Carmelo, now Batum going for the low blow? Don’t go for the huevos! Thats what they teach women in self defense class, not men in sports! Next time I better hear Batum scream, " Thats my purse! I don’t know you!"

NbanflguyParticipantHow did JCN stay on his feet after that? I would probably be on the ground in the fetal position

mercyman25Participantit looks like he got mostly thigh, just past the huevos. Otherwise he probably would be singing in the Vienna Boys Choir this Christmas.

IndianaBasketballParticipantBeing serious though… I hate flopping more than anyone, but there’s no room in the game for retaliating like that… One retaliation could lead to another and so on… The last thing I want to see is someone ending up getting hurt.
This is a sign though that maybe the league does need to find some sort of way to punish floppers.

Sewok15ParticipantIf he tried to hit him right in the nuts that is insane but if he was just trying to foul him pretty hard and his emotions got the best of him I can understand. When I was a kid I we were losing a tight summer league game and I grabbed a kids head from behind and pretty much had my fingers in his eye sockets. I claimed I thought it was the ball and can say at that time I really don’t know what happened. I guess this could be a reason why Ron Artest circa 2004 was one of my favorite players.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantKey phrase, "When I was a kid" lol
Batum’s antic was childing, these are grown men playing on the biggest international stage in the world.

Sewok15ParticipantThat is a good point because I was about 12 at the time and once I was 15 or so I learned to keep my cool on the court and let my play do the talking.
