The post about Kobe when he was 17 made me bust out my old basketball cards, and I was well aware the card market really fell off about 10 years ago, but I was kinda surprised how much it did.  I’ve got a hand full of Michael Jordan’s worth less than 10 bucks and my most highly priced Kobe rookie card is worth 25 bucks.

I’ve probably still got a couple hundred bucks worth of cards, but in under $10 incriments.  Anybody else used to or still collect basketball cards?

It was pretty entertaining going through them all, a little nostalgic and a lot of forgotten players of the past 20 years.

The strangest one had to be a Major Attraction card with Michael Jordan and Charlie Sheen, lol.

I have a Dirk rookie too, I think he looks even goofier with a buzz cut. haha….again, only 9 bucks.

I don’t know if the card market will ever rebound, I was kinda huritng for cash in 2004 and I was going to sell my cards to get some cash, but the prices were so much lower than they were in the late 90’s I just decided to keep them.

I hadn’t looked at them since until today, and even my better ones aren’t much better than they were 7 years ago. And I have about every rookie from 95-98 and there were some HOF guys that came out of that era.

I  think my grandfather has a Bismack Biyombo card from the 1930’s. I’ll have to check with him though.
