Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantDudes been hurt and ridiculed so much that I kind of forgot what a talented offensive player he actually is. He looked damn near unstoppable tonight against Detroit at times. I know he probably wasn’t worthy of a number one pick but it seems like he should at least be able to salvage a decent career if he gets in the right situation and can stay healthy.

hbomb3300ParticipantYup… he’ll probably be able to stay healthy now that he’s older.

Rip255Which part of offense is he talented at?
He shoots 43% as 7 footer.
He averages 1.2 assists and 1 offensive rebound in 30 minutes.
He sets weak screens and plays with no hustle.
He’s never helped a good team.
In his best statistical season, he was a volume shooter on terrible Toronto teams.
So tell me…which part of offense is he talented at?

HitsterParticipantBargnani has put up a few decent stats in the last few games but never lived up to his status as a number 1 pick certainly since 2011 when he averaged a career best 21ppg. Injuries and lack of rebounding ability have always been his shortcomings.
Hard to think Toronto passed on LMA to take in considering their respective careers.
Bargnani will likely get a contract with some team this summer or at worse he can go and get a lucrative deal in Europe. I cannot call a 15ppg 9 year NBA career guy a bust but he certainly hasn’t lived up to what he could have been.

UnbiasedObserverParticipantDude can shoot and has decent footwork for a guy his size. Defense and other intangibles are non existant, is a subpar rebounder and is as soft as the puppy on the toilet paper commercials. Definitely not worth a first rounder but I agree strongly he could be a good fit for a contending team.

ExumInfernoParticipantMaybe Bargnani will be like Danny Ferry. Laughed at by fans for most of his career, then find a team he can help with being a tall player with an outisde shot.
Bargnani will now get his first chance to choose a team that fits him, and if he takes the Mid-Level Exception to join Houston or Memphis he could be a very useful player off the bench.
There are plenty of things he can’t do, but some he can that few others can’t. 7-0 tall and hits his free throws, he still has the ability to hit the outisde shot so that will help spread the floor and maybe keep defenses from collapsing on a scorer in the paint, at his age right now he should be entering the peak years of his career. Although his best play was 5 years ago.
If he just takes the most money, it may not work out too well. If Bargnani can find the right fit and join a contender, maybe people won’t mention that for his draft he is outside the top 10 for Win Shares even though he was picked 1st. He actually is one of the top 10 players from his draft still in the NBA, when his numbers are looked at.
Free agents from that draft this offseason will include Bargnani, R Rondo, P Millsap, and right now only Millsap has a real chance at getting a pay rise.

tblazer_NZParticipantAdd LaMarcus to the list of free agents that will be getting a pay rise from his draft. LA was the No.2 pick behind Bargnani

festar35ParticipantDetroit for the right price and if they don’t re-sign Monroe, could space the floor next to Drummond like Anderson did for Howard.

HitsterParticipantBargnani needs a big strong C in front of him, I wonder if the Pacers might be an option, Scola and West are both in their mid 30’s now and Bargnani would be a nice option to play around them with Roy Hibbert anchoring the defence.
