I’ve seen this kid play enough to notice the star power he possesses. And im talking about NBA star power. Everyone talks about the potential of Marquis Teague, Anthony Davis, and Mike Gilchrist but potential to me is the ability to improve, which isn’t always predictable when judging someone’s game now. What i’ve seen from this kid is drastic improvement every few months and the kind of approach that could make him a legitimate superstar in the NBA. I know it sounds far fetched but certain guys just have those superstar intangibles that go past physical skills and athleticism. Thoughts?

I dont see how anything is premature once a players name is being posted on a mock draft and were all here talking about him. It’s not like hes 13. Theres a very strong chance hes less than two years away from being drafted. But yeah nobody knows until he suits em up in the L. Just my thoughts

I dont know man the kid still has to play his senior year. plus he gets alot of hype because of who his dad is. ill worry about him more down the road but right now his ceiling to me is Monta.

I think the Austin Rivers hype of little unwarranted. The kid is a great high school player, and can definitely score, but as far as high school players, I’d take Quincy Miller over him and Andre Drummond as well. Quincy is 6’9 with great handles, good scoring ability, and has alot of Carmelo Anthony in his game. Drummond is a beast inside, and in my opinion is the best high school player regardless of class. Actually, now that I think about, I’d also take Anthoney Davis over Rivers too. Davis is less proven, but im from Chicago, and saw him play up close last year before all the hype came from his AAU breakout. He is 6’10 has a soft touch around the basket, solid footwork, and plays hard. He kinda reminds me of a better Marcus Camby. From what I’ve seen, Rivers is fundamentally sound, with good hesitation moves, and a solid jumper…..but his ceiling seems alot lower than other top prospects. He doesn’t seem “overly athletic” and lacks strength, which most combo guards possess in that 6’3/6’4 range in the NBA. I think the Monta Ellis ceiling is definitely applicable, but then again Monta isn’t exactly a NBA Superstar/Franchise player either. So long story short, i think people should chill out on annointing Rivers as a “nba all star in the making”, and just let him play, see what happens. Just because he crossed John Wall once, and it’s on youtube, isn’t the biggest deal in the world either. There were kids from Sam Houston State shooting 3s in John Walls face last year in the regular season, and they’ll never get a sniff of the NBA, just like these international players who are competing admirably against the US in the World Championships.

including kyrie Irving. He was the best player in the tournament that included future lotto picks from his team and from European teams. Yea it’s safe to say his hype is warrented

game not highlights. His crossover was nice but not like it was at gtown or NBA. He used to turn it over at a good rate before gtown. He’s not as quick as iverson but his cross over is just as effective as iversons was in hs with less turnovers
