Im a huge fan of this guy, I think he will develop into an NBA PG, only reason why he is being labeled as a “combo guard” is because he has the size of a SG, but I think hes a PG and is going to stay there. Hes not a pure PG but more of a scoring PG, its hard to find a comparison for him because of his combination of shooting, size, and athleticism. He pretty much has the total package for a PG.

He shoots alittle to much for me, he is a pg and will be in college and the NBA. I want to see him start developing those skills and learn how to control tempo, you don’t always have to shoot to be affective.

I just want to see him become more of a PG cause that will be his position in the future.

I think he is a 2 guard who can switch to the PG position occasionally when needed. In time he can develop a couple of PG skills. He reminds me alot of…..Drake…LOL. But really, he does play alot like OJ Mayo, real volume scorer who is stuck in between both positions.

Gilbert Arenas is the closest comparison I can think of for him. He will have Arenas’ size by the time he matures (6’4 200lbs), and maybe even bigger than that because he hasn’t even turned 18 yet.

I assume by the Doc sighting that this is his son? It’d be funny if the Celtics were in full rebuilding mode by the time Austin was eligible and he got drafted there. But I think he’ll play point in the NBA in the trend of “big” PGs John Wall and Derrick Rose.

I think Doc Rivers might be “semi retired” by the time his son enters the League, Doc refuses to resign with the Celtics because I think he wants to take some time off from coaching after this year. But a chance to coach his son is something extremely hard to turn down.

he reminds me of stephen curry because both their dads were in the nba so they both grew up around professional ball, and therefore they both have mature games and understanding of the game at such a young age
another thing is that they are both good shooters that are good passing SG in a PG’s body

To be fair though, players who gain national recognition are always at least a little bit selfish because huge scoring outputs are more impressive at a young age and easier to come by than assists at the high school level. Once he transitions to college/NBA I’m sure he’ll ease off the accelerator because he won’t have to carry so much of the scoring load.

exactly..mostplayers in hs dont average a bunch of assist. his job on his teams are to score. he can handle and is a good passer so being a pg on the nba level shouldnt be hard to him. reminds me of curry but more athletic. he should be able to move to the pg position int he nba pretty easily just like curry did

Both players have very good athleticism. Both players seem to use that athleticism to glide around defenders rather than go through or over them, like a vince carter type athlete. I think he will constantly be tagged with the “crafty” and “coach’s kid” stereotypes. Once he gets stronger and can rub off his teammates screens better and v cut to go open easier then he will become an even greater scorer.

ps If he goes to Duke which he is rumored to, then there is a good chance he wont play pg there. Duke always gets a top rated pg, and rivers can easily play the 2 in college.

If Kyrie stays another year, the back court of Irving and Rivers will deliver a championship…it’s simply unguardable

If he has goals of playing in the NBA he’d be wise to choose a college where he can play PG, cause if he plays the 2 in college his draft stock will drop. If he proves to be a good PG his stock will sky-rocket.
