I’m not sure why but this guy seems to be flying under the radar to an extent. He’s averaging almost 17 points per game and 4 assists as a freshman and scored 22 against a tough Louisville defense on the road. Personally, I can not see there even being a chance he isn’t at least a top 10 pick come June. He’s very young for his class (born August of ’94) and shows an enormous amount of potential as a slasher and overall scorer. He is projected as the 11th pick right now on the 2013 mock but if he measures out to be a true 6’5 in shoes, he is a good of a prospect as any in this entire draft.

Yes he’s ultra athletic and crazy talented, yet there are some things scouts don’t like about him: he is too ball dominant for a guy that most likely wont be a poky guard at the next level young players that are ball stoppers usually scare teams look at Tyreke Evans, another is his tunnel vision. He gets hellbent on scoring that he usually misses the wide open man and chucks up a terrible shot, another is his inconsistent jumper, some days he’s hot but other days he can’t hit anything. I think based on talent and potential he is top 10, but his height and future position are major knocks against him. My pro comparisons: Tyreke Evans with a better jumpshot/Russell Westbrook

Man if i were a GM with a certain plan I would be glad to draft a potential 6’5” Russell Westbrook outside of the top 10

I dont think he is a potential Westbrook though. He can be a pretty good Archie Goodwin, but he doesnt look comfortable running the show as Westbrook did when Collison went out. People always say Westbrook is not a point guard…well not naturally, but he is pretty good at the position. I dont see that in Goodwin.

Dang I’m as old as he is…that’s cray. I can only imagine what it would be like to be an NBA prospect right now instead of just a normal college kid. But yeah I agree. I can’t think of 10 better prospects for next year’s draft

Top 8 sleeper IMO. He’s a poor mans Kyrie, but still a guy who I feel could be a very good pro.

Should be a Top 5 pick…..ESPECIALLY if Dion Waiters can go number 4. He was fearless at the end of that Louisville game scoring at will trying to will his team to victory. He had potential SUPERSTAR written all over him IMO. He needs to work on finishing with his left and becoming a CONSISTENT shooter instead of a streaky one. I don’t exactly know where all the westbrook comparisons are coming from, he’s not as quick or explosive, but he’s quick and explosive ENOUGH. He makes up his mind he’s going to the basket and score and on the college level he does more often than not. I think he’s gonna be a excellent pro, he just has it….and that it is CONFIDENCE in his ability and a killer instinct.

He plays with the same relentlessness and recklessness that RW plays with. He looks like a good prospect, but unless he learns how to slow down a half tick and not force the issue as much, I think he’s gonna be a player who, like RW, you have to take the bad with the good.

He has that style of game that can change a franchise or cripple it. He can be either or Westbrook or Stuckey. I think his potential is as high as any guard in the draft. What I really think is promising is he has a smooth jumper and seems to be learning how to get buckets in theflow of the game. He really needs a.left hand and to look for teammates on drives more.

I this Goodwin is a lock for top ten, id love to see him and B Mac square off.

Id say its a bit premature to say he has any kind of style that may or may not be beneficial to a team. 12 games into his FR year and you think he is a finished product? Get back in about 5 years.

Okay Scotty who said he was a finished product? I just said he needs to work on his left and getting his teammates involved more didn’t I? And if it takes you 5 wholes years to realize what type of style a player plays with then you certainly shouldn’t be blogging on a “NBA DRAFT” site.

Go ask Chris Grant, the Cavs GM, if you can get a good feel for a player after 12 games in his freshman year, because it worked out well with Kyrie.

I don’t see a guy listed at 11th on Aran’s mock as being flying under the radar, Aran amends his mock almost weekly so players will fall and rise across the season. Playing for a powerhouse team like UKC will mean that Goodwin would very much be on all scout’s radars.

He is only 18 so has a very easy option to return for a second year under Coach Cal if he does not feel he is NBA ready. I would see him as very much a work in progress but has the upside to be drafted well inside the top 10 whenever he declares.

he’s not coming back a second year, don’t kid yourself….it’s not even an OPTION as you say…..it’ll just give them another year to pick him apart, he’s gonna go and he SHOULD go…

Hitster you do realize the Harrison twins and James Young are coming to Kentucky next year right? Goodwin could potentially plummet his stock like Perry Jones and Sullinger by coming back another year.

goodwin is going in the lottery w/o a doubt and i dont think hes under the radar…. his shot selection at times is horrible…… this guy has no business playing PG anytime soon …… at least he can hit an open shot and is a solid shooter… and he can create his own shot really well… but needs to know when to take smarter shots and he can play to wild at times
