OhCanada-ParticipantWhy is the site sleeping on Will Barton. He has great height and length, athletisism and natural presence. His confidence is through the roof and he honestly believes he is the best. Barton is argueably the best offensive player in this class. Even if he doesnt gain 10 pounds in a year, he is still stronger then Bellinelli and other small NBA gaurds that make a living in the L. He is also a winner, and doesnt really accept failure. Why sleep on the kid?

RUDEBOY_ParticipantBarton has great shooting, passing and ball handling skills..And has a very high basketball IQ..
Scouts say his best position might be point guard..
But he’s not a 1 and done type of guy..
Nothing he does separates him from the rest of the pack..
If you watch Harrison Barnes, you’ll say this guy could play in the league right now..
You look at Barton, you’ll say he has the talent to play in the NBA 1 day…
If he stays at least 2 years Barton could be a top 15 pick..0- Posted on: Thu, 09/16/2010 - 10:37am #402578
Real deal seal of appealParticipantOk board it’s time to let the truth be heard.I’ve watch all these kids from the 2010 class for the last few years,,,,Will Barton has been one of if not the best score of this class. He is also the best rebounder for his postion, and top two befinders at he’s postion. He’s top two in ball handling for the postion.Flat out he may be the best of this class out wright.I watch him play Harrison Barnes’s 17’s at Boo Williams he out played Barnes 38points to 14 it wasn’t even close.I watch Will play Defince this kid just wont let you score….And all this talk about wieght, this is not football guys it’s basketball and when you are 23 feet away from the rim your going to have problems tryn to keep up with this kid.You can’t use your weight out there…I remember when Kevin Durrant couldn’t do one bench press it hasn’t stop him from leading the NBA in scoring…You guys has been wronge about this kid all the long so just keep it up your doing a great job at being wrong…But he’ll see you in the green room real soon…lol

hiphopismylifeParticipantBarton is a serious talent. But Rudeboy is right he needs more fine tuning and added strength. He weighed 160 going in to this summer and hes 6’6. If he stays three years we could be looking at a more athletic, physically weaker Evan Turner, hes that good. He really brings a different dynamic to the table with his rebounding and playmaking. Hopefully he doesn’t jump at the first chane to run to the L. Considering the passing ability of both he and Jelan Kendrick on the wing and Joe Jackson running point Memphis could be really dangerous if these guys stay together more than a year.

Aran SmithKeymasterI’ve met and spoken with Barton and I love him as a player and kid. He has a bright future. He is a skilled offensive player and a top recruit without question. But for him to be a one and done guy or thinking that way is not in his best interest. His body is a long ways off. At 161 lbs, he doesn’t have the strength to finish or guard anyone. IMO he is a 2-3 year player and needs to put significant strength on. That isn’t a problem at the HS level and may not be much of a problem at the college level, but it will affect him in the NBA. Hyping him as a top 10 SG or SF right now would be doing him a disservice.

Lotto StudParticipantYou still have to consider the fact that he was, contemplating on going the D-League route or even maybe overseas. So there is no doubt in my mind, that he is considering the jump after 1 season if he performs well, especially in tourney play where he will get a lot of exposure.

ilike.panochasParticipantWill Barton reminds me alot of Latrell Sprewell. Very similar thin/wiry frame and both are elite slashers. Even tho hes not getting much hype right now, come draft time I expect his stock to be somewhere in the top 10 selection.

OhCanada-ParticipantTeams will still draft him based on sheer potential…He does need to add strength but this is not someone you can pass up on. His slill and athletisism makes him an elite prospect despite his size. I can see him adding 20 pounds this year as well.

JNixonParticipantThat guy is a 2 year prospect. I agree. He’s too weak to factor in the NBA right now or in the short-term. With that said, a team would take him if he declared after next year. I am a believer that he’ll only play 1 year of college ball though, he doesn’t seem like a “student-athlete” to me from what I’ve read and heard.

jeff416ParticipantHe has added 16 pounds of muscle this offseason, so that should help him alot. I think he will be the top SG taken next year. Some of y’all are underrating him a little, even though he is skinny he has the length and skill to make up for that.

stanford hoopsYea I think he should stay because of size but with his talent if he comes out he’s a first rounder. Who ever drafts him will have him in the weight room. Gaining weight isn’t hard so it’s not a big problem
plus I’m sure he will gain alot before the start of the season working with the weight trainers at Memphis0 - Posted on: Thu, 09/16/2010 - 11:28am #402644
