joe2324ParticipantNerlens Noel? In the last four games he has started, he brings so much energy on the offensive and especially the defensive end. The team just looks better with him starting at center. I don’t know what it is. I think we need at least 15 games or more of him starting to see what we have, but so far so good. You can’t keep Okafor coming off the bench as he is too talented, but I think Noel brings a more dynamic game. I guess the question is can Embiid play power forward? I think you need to move Okafor, but no clue who you can get in return of him and get fair value.

circumlocution75ParticipantAnyone who has watched any Sixers games could see the utterly atrocious guard play which left Okafor & Noel helpless at both ends of the court…..
It says a lot that a fringe PG like Ish Smith comes on board & Noel games elevates immediately…..
As far as Okafor & Noel….. I just don’t understand Phila’s coach or GM…. You guys have One question to answer this year – can either Noel or Okafor play PF? B/c Embiid is on his way back & he’s absolutely a Center….
Phila would be set up for a decade had they taken Porzingus instead of Okafor….. I luv Okafor’s ability to score…. but it’s clear Noiel just can not play the PF & maybe it’s time to try Okafor at that spot….
Phila is really in a jam of sorts b/c it looks like they have 3 really good Centers & there is no way to get proper trade value b/c teams know that they have to move at least 1 & maybe 2….
Noel will never be a 20+ point a game scorer but he’s good for 15 ppg on a good team…. Imagine what he could do on a good team w/ a top PG…. Noel stuffs the stat sheet w/ rebounds, steals, assists, blocks & he is a Fantastic defensive player….
But you are losing these games anyway, get Noel & Okafor on the court together & see if they can gel….. but give it time…..

PulseGlazerParticipantI actually don’t think Porzingis can survive at the 4 defensively long term… and more, I don’t think Philly can bank on Embid being a star after missing 2-years to injury.

SlickBouncePassParticipantof hearing this argument. When anyone makes any argument about Embiid, they assume he will be healthy. The guy played 3 years of ball and you saw how he improved from year 2 to year 3. When he was playing HS ball Dakari Johnson was the highly touted big man on his team. Dakari quickly became a limited afterthought in college…..why?
Because EVERYONE sees the potential of Embiid, comparing him to a young Olajuwon at his age. You mean to tell me because he missed a year or two he will not be the same player?
Unless this is a Brandon Roy type of Injury, or even Derrick Rose, or Greg Oden, where it impacts him Physically, whats your reasoning for him never achieving the promise?
Regardless, anytime someone says something about Embiid on the site, someone always repeats the same thing "he’s been out of the game for 2 years". I think anytime someone highly praises Embiid, they are well aware of the fact taht he may not reach his promise….but they are taking an optimistic WE SHALL SEE approach.
Nobody can predict the future, we can just go off what we know from college, and that is that he was full of promise. From here on forward, let’s see what happens.
As for the OP, I like Noel a lot, moreso on the defensive side, but offensively I think he is less dependable especially when it will matter, in the playoffs. I think next to both Randle and Cousins he has played his butt off, and I respect his effort. Because of his limitations on the offensive end (he’s not a stabilizer and plays erratically), he’d be the first one I traded, but I think you can make minutes for him, Noel, Saric, and Embiid to play together.
Right now they had a nice thing going with…
Smith, Canaan, Sampson, Grant, Noel and….
McConnell, Stauskas, Covington, Landry, and Okafor.
Surround Noel with the athletic types and run them up and down the court, and Surround Okafor with the shooters and play more of a halfcourt offense. Nice job of matching up personnell, which I think is D’Antoni’s contribution.
They’ve been playing better with both Ish Smith and Mike D’Antoni….so far so good.
Keep ’em all, stay positive, let’s see what happens. HOPEFULLY, Embiid is the franchise talent.
Ben Simmons comes in dominates the ball and defensively…..or someone gets in Brandon Ingram’s head and he becomes headstrong competetive like Kobe and MJ.
Let’s hope. Trust The Process.

circumlocution75Participant& I don’t care if Embiid EVER comes back….. Noel is a better NBA Center than Okafor & Porzingus at the "4" w/ Noel at the "5" would have been a Great front court duo for Phila…..
Okafor & Noel do Not fit together – it was a bad pick…. & now the Sixers stuck w/ a situation where everyone knows they Must trade one of them & b/c of that they will never get Full value….
That was my main point – that even though Okafor looks like he will be a Stud scorer, Porzingus would have been a much better pick for Phila…..

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI think Ish Smith is a big reason Noel is starting ot come into his own. He and Noel played really well together last year and had a great chemistry, and we saw that to start this year Phila didnt have a guard who could operate the pick and roll and enter the ball into the post well. Now they have Ish back, a decent point guard, and we are seeing Noel play well again. In a few years time if the 76ers can get a solid starting point guard and develop the young talent they have well, they will be scary.

Jr. ROXASParticipantPhilly guards do not know how to feed the post. They all want to go pick and roll all the time when sometimes, the best option is just to dump it down to Okafor. It’s good though that now that they have Smith, they have a good pick and roll threat. Guys like Jakarr Sampson especially…. Damn… How is he still in the NBA. Clueless how to feed the post.

CobraParticipantHe really benefits from a PG that could drive, and find him out of the pick and roll. Philly didn’t have anyone that could do that until Smith. For the future, it would be best if they could upgrade Smith to a PG that has those capabilities and that you could rely on as a playoff starter.
