Andrew Wiggins Freshman Stat Projections
Ok guys I've been following him for a while I think he's the real deal. What are your stat projections for his freshman season and where he'll be drafted. I'll give you mine.
1st Round 1st Pick 2014 Draft
I'm more interested in knowing Selden's than Wiggins a lot of people will put too much expectation on Wiggins.
22 is a little high.. i dont think he'll be one of the leading scorers in the nation.
Not a very productive morning at work for this Jayhawk fan...
17.5 ppg 10.4 rpg 2.7 apg 1.7 spg 1.7 bpg
Nerlens Noel and Gorgui Dieng averaged 9.5 rebounds per game as the better rebounders of this draft class. Doubt Wiggins is getting 10.4 per game.
RPG 8.3 (Freak athletic ability should help him grab plenty of boards)
APG 2.7 (Should average some assists at times when he's looking to get his teammates involved. He showed to be a willing passer in the McDonald's All-American game as well as the Hoops Summit.)
BPG 1.7 (He should give opposing SF problems with this defense)
1st Round 1st Pick 2014 Draft
How many of you have seen Andrew Wiggins play and how often?
Just laughing at these projected stats. 22ppg?
I've seen Wiggins play 2 games on ESPN vs. overmatched teams and in the Jordan Brand Classic, McDonald's game, and Nike Hoop Summit.
I'm just saying..
I don't know how much information you have to be able to project a 22ppg scorer.
He goes right a lot and is streaky as a shooter. He will also not be force fed at Kansas and isn't very selfish as a player from the limited action I've seen.
He'll also be going up against teams who will have a defensive identity and system. Teams that zone, who sag, who pressure, etc.
We honestly don't know what his stats will be without having seen him play enough vs. the competition he will see in college basketball.
First off, I think Wiggins made the absolute best decision to choose Kansas. He will step right in and be the best player, but Kansas is also good enough where he wont be expected to put up crazy numbers every night. Anyways, here are my projections for Wiggins next year:
Wins Big 12 player of the year and leads Kansas to the Elite 8 and then becomes the #1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft
17, 6, and 3. With 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks a game.
I think his stats will be considerably disappointing based on expectation
Seldens going to score some points of his own, and Embiid is going to grab some rebounds of his own
all of this with high efficiency, leading to him still being the #1 pick
Emits is going to split minutes with Traylor and Lucas. I doubt he's a big factor next season. Wiggins can supposedly hit 12' and a wing like KD was almost a 12 rpg player in college. I don't think 8-11 is out of reach for him.
Those don't look disappointing at all to me. Those actually look like the most realistic given his current skill set.
I'm more interested in how his skills improve more than what numbers he'll put up. He currently does not have the skill set to be a dominant scorer.
wiggins: 18.5 ppg 7.6 rpg 2.5 apg 2.5 spg 1.3 bpg
selden: 15 ppg 6.5 rpg 3.0 apg 2 spg .5 bpg
A good deal of points, a bunch of rebounds, some assists, blocks and steals. And TO, too. More or less.
15.8pts 7.3rebs 2.4ast 0.8stl 0.9blk fg% 52 3p% 34
You all will be very disappointed next year. I can tell you've only seen highlight tapes. I'm not saying he's not gonna be great eventually, but he's not a scorer right now. He just oozes potential that hasn't been put together yet.
18.4ppg 6.7rpg 2.4apg 1.7spg 1.2bpg 47%FG 37%3pt 77%FT 31.2MPG
ill say, 15 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 apg, 1 bpg, 1 spg. good numbers, not great numbers. hes being way over hyped.
