ItsRainingNegsParticipantI saw where on the sweepstake thread the Hawks were projected to be a front runner for Wiggins. That led me to this question:
How do you all feel Wiggins compares to Dominique Wilkins? I know both are generational athletes, but that’s about it. Do you all think Wilkins is Wiggins’ realistic ceiling? Share.

MopgrassParticipantMy first guess is Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets get Wiggins.
Orlando Magic are going to be a lot better with Mo Harkless and Tobias Harris starting all year, plus… um… Ben McLemore? The Wizards were an all-star team when John Wall started. The Suns could tank though: too many medium talents.
I’d guess the only way the Bobcats don’t come in last is if they get an uninjured NBA ready PF or C who can bring some offense. The only top tier player that fits that description is Anthoney Bennett. They should draft him and even if he was remarkable, they still might come in last.
Point being, I’d guess the Bobcats get Wiggins. But they could manage to screw that up to.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantIm thinking Toronto may win the lottery to get Wiggins, seeing as he’s Canadian and all, ala Derrick Rose to Chicago, and Lebron to Cleveland. Don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I think we all know by now that the lottery is rigged to what ever is best monetary wise for Stern and the League.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantThe point of this thread is comparing Dominique Wilkins’ skills to Andrew Wiggins’. Do they compare favorably and if so how close are they?

jjbutler73ParticipantIf the point is to compare players, why would you say he’s going to the Hawks? They makes you look stupid and of course people don’t take you serious.

ItsRainingNegsParticipantI never said he was going to the Hawks. Not once. And if “they makes” me look stupid that’s fine, if I could change the headline to Andrew Wiggins: Dominique Wilkins instead of Atlanta Hawks I would. Besides, people commenting obviously didn’t actually read the post. Nobody knows who will get him, the team picking first next year will. Nobody knows which team and guessing now is a waste of time

CavFanPRParticipantI think the magic will get Wiggins. The hawks have a chance too since they will lose Josh Smith and these past two seasons we’ve seen a team lose their star player and go on to win the draft. This year it didn’t happen but it could happen next season.

NJHooper95ParticipantI like Wiggins, but he is far from a cant-miss prospect. One scout said it best, Wiggins maybe the best athlete in his class, but he is not the best player. Wiggins game is primarily based on athleticism. His jumper is not good, ball handling is mediocre, and he still need to gain weight and he takes plays off. Athleticism is unstoppable in high school, but college and definitely the pros can stop it, you have to have more than that. Jabari Parker game is way ahead of Wiggins in terms of skills set. Wiggins may have a high ceiling, but that doesn’t mean he will reach it. Wiggins is no different from Gerald Green and J.R Smith who both were supremely athletic in High School and could shoot much better than Wiggins, yet they are not franchise players, so you never know.
