I would like to see what Barney haters have to say this offseason..

Over his career Bargnani has been scrutinized miscoached and the subject of multiple trade rumours including one involving Gerald Wallace. GM Bryan Colengalo has kept him as the heir to the Toronto Raptors throne. Now the inevitable has happened Bosh is going to walk and Bargnani is the number 1 option in Toronto.

Bargnani should play at PF not C but throughout his career he has played with Bosh who is even smaller than Barney and he has been slotted at C (part of the reason Toronto had limited success).Bargnani gaurds bigger and stronger players and also plays with Bosh that is the reason why he only records 6 RPG.Hes always been deceptively long and a good shot blocker.

With Bargnani sliding over to PF he will now be playing smaller players still have a quickness advantage and get more touches.

Bargnani should average at least 20PPG 8RPG 3APG and 1BPG
Those should be his stats if Toronto has a 500 team
On a weak team Bargnani could easily average 25PPG as he can light up the lamp so easily and effortlessly.

    Andrea Bargnani Got Next!

It’s going to be one SAD day in Raptor land when Bargnani becomes the first option. He is better suited coming off the bench in my honest opinion. I really don’t think it’s because he’s been playing with Bosh his entire career why he is not playing well. If he is good, then he is just plain good.

I’m with 7chakras, I’m a fan. He measured a legit 7-0 w/o shoes at the combine so he’s a good 7-1 in shoes, and man can he shoot the lights out! His scoring has improved over the last three years (10.4-15.4-17.2), he averaged a career high in blocks last year (1.4), and has taken on a lot of minutes. Also, I think Bosh owes a great deal to him; much of his game is like Amare’s, backing down, then facing up and going straight to the basket, and having a guy like Bargnani who is a real threat from outside spreads the floor and gives him more room to work, Seeing how his scoring has improved, and that he’s been able to remain healthy and is still only 24, him averaging 20 ppg is definitely not out of the question. When he enters his prime in 2-3 years I can see him averaging 22 and 8. I don’t think he will ever be a great rebounder or a dominant defender, though. They should definitely take a combo big man with the 13th pick to protect him, somewhat, and add some fierceness to that team; looks like Udoh and Orton will be available, and the mock draft here has Aldrich and Davis dropping to be available there. He won’t be the #1 option on a great team, and isn’t your prototypical #1 pick, but I like his game and think that the best is definitely yet to come from him.

Dont get Udoh or Orton we need a true big physical player and this draft has none…Just pick up Whiteide for the future and we should get a good Draft Pick next year…Maybe Whiteside does in fact live up to the hype if not we get to try again next year and trade whiteside or something.I know hes not strong but hes worth a shot

let me start by saying i’m a raps fan… and every time andrea steps on the court u realize that he has 0 ball iq… and i hate to hear ppl talk about numbers (BLAME THAT ON FANTASY BALL) but how about the number of times he misses a defensive rotation or a simple box out!!

I am not totally sold on Bargnani like 7 is but I think he will put up good offensive numbers with Bosh gone. But he still sucks at defense and is not very physical. It did take Dirk a while to learn to be physical so maybe it will happen. Also Toronto should just take Orton who is a big 6’10” and could potentially grow another inch and with his wingspan he is a legit Center. They guy that give Howard the most trouble is 6’10” 6’9″ with long arms and a big body.

Forget that, the Raptors need to get Avery Bradley. It’s the PG’s position where we get killed. I remember a game last year where the Raptors let Mario Chamers drop 30.

dirk is the best possible make of a 7ft jumping big and truth is that he isn’t a number 1 option on a championship caliber team and andrea will not ever be as good as dirk… its to bad that colangelo doesnt have the b&LLZ to say he maded a mistake drafting him and look to move him

Why can’t Bargnani be as good as Dirk? Also Toronto need to figure out what they will do with Jose Caulderon and Jarrett Jack before they add another point guard.

Toronto is very talented on offense, they need toughness and defense. You name the player in the draft who brings those two qualities and that’s the guy Toronto should draft.

dirk by yr 4 realized that to be sucessfully in the league u can hang out at the 3pt line… dirk is far from a dominant post player but works that 15 to 18 very well… this is yr 5 for andrea and his ball iq has shown minor if any improvement… but i blame the front office for con’t to build this team out of a losing formula

This year Dirk got Outplayed by Andrea

I couldnt find the comments but Nowitzki was asked how good Bargnani is and I remember these exact words when they compared Andrea to him

He is bigger athletic and much more versatile than I ever was. He has an amazing jumpshot and I think he will be a star in this league.Thy sky is the limit.

He said that and more right after this game

    Dirk
    19pts 3reb

    Andre
    22pts 8reb

Check out Bargnanis shot at 3 45 and Dirks face at 4 07

haha lol do u beleive that andrea bargnani will actually become a star in the league..i highly doubt that..he isnt a #1 option on a nba team..he would be a perfect 3rd option on a championship team..and you are right he NEEDS to play PF..if we somehow manage to re-sign cb4..we need to ship andrea then..cuz we wont be able to be contenders with both starting..it just cant work…

Bigs always hit their prime later then guards or swings. To me Bargnani will be a great player and there is no reason he can’t be a number one option 3-4 years down the road. Trade the pick and jose and get a 2nd rounder and a big?

Wow, even though it is a reach…… I kinda like the Lance Stephenson pick for the Raptors. He is tough and he is instant offense. They could also roll the dice and give Bledsoe the keys to the offense. I’d want Bledsoe over Bradley.

The next post will be Mr. 6000 telling me that Bradley is a better pick than Bledsoe.

    Time for the negative points.

Churchboy that is an amazing idea actaully…what Im thinking is get Avery Bradley stock up on picks next year then get Corey Jospeh AND Tristan Thompson so we can have all the Findlay Prep, Texas connection uniterd here in Toronto and 2 hometown boys

Make an offer for Marcin Gortat and trade Bosh for a bunch of picks and some young talent possibly to Houston for picks cash and Hill.

    Thats the dream anyways.

We do not need a big man, expecially Orton, the guys a bust waiting to happen and as a Raptors fan weve had enough bad picks.

Take Bradley, Anderson, or even Armon Johnson if we have to
