I’m hearing a lot of Amare Stoudemire and Dwight Howard but right.now I see Derrick Favors. A guy with a decent but not great freshman year in collegebut a better Nba player. By his third year in the Nba I see him living up to his potential just like Derrick Favors.

That is ridiculous. You have only seen a few games of drummond in college and gather that he will not have a great year. Drummond has stated that he is not focused on offense at the moment but rather focusing on defence which he has done extremly well. Drummond is a beast.

Derrick Favors didn’t produce on a team that had little talent around him.  Andre Drummond is on a team with 5 potential first round picks and 3 potential lottery picks and are a top 5 team in the nation and he is just about to hit his stride.  Plus Drummond not only has a better feel for the game then Favors but he is far more gifted athletically which is saying a lot considering how gifted Favors is.

yeah when trying to realize their potentials i pretty usually compare both Andre and Anthony with Derick’s season(don’t say it was easy for him, he had Gani Lawal in the post and no pg)

but as far as comparison i don’t like to compare a star prospect with a former star prospect whi we still have no idea  how good and what type of player will end up

I don’t really see him being a better athlete than Favors, but I could be wrong I just don’t see it from the UConn games I’ve watched.

Drummond is a stupid athlete.it’s just that he is almost 7 feet so he does not have to use all his leaps. but his speed is crazy.Calhoun said he is the fastest player on the team.then look at his strength and quickness. All better than favors which would make him a better athlete. on top of that when he got his vert test in the summer it was 36.5 at adidias nations. The kid is sick

I have my questions.  Olawakandi was a phenominal athlete, so is DeAndre Jordan, JaVale McGee, Birdman and Jeff Foster (when they were young).  There are a lot of factors as to whether a guy is going to be a good basketball player, and athleticism is only part of it.  I think you can count on Drummond as a sure fire defensive presence in the NBA, but how quickly will he learn not to foul? How much or will he improve his 35% FT percentage?  There are still a lot of questions about him.

I think it’s too early to put him in the Amare, Dwight Howard realm because, well, they were much better players at his age.  You say Drummond is playing with 5 NBA players, hence his low stats.  While, Amare and Howard played in the NBA against NBA players and still put up better stats as rookies compared to what Drummond is putting up in college.  He is the best center prospect since Greg Oden, and his upside is evident, but I just can’t image this guy being a skilled offensive player, or guy who is aggressive enough on offense to muscle his way to 18 points a night with a drop step and good position.

If my team had the #1 pick, Drummond would make me nervous, if I had #2 or #3, I’d be more comfortable.  I think Favors is closer than Dwight Howard, but I see more of a DeAndre Jordan type player, who I think will be around a 10 ppg 10 rpg 2.5 block player this year.  They type of guy everyone would want in this center starved league, but not a franchise player  Some people might think I’m selling Drummond short, and although I do see his potential, and although he may be surpass my expectations, I still think he’ll be closer to a 10/10/2.5 player than he will be to a 22/14/3 type player.

You are right about Georgia Tech, jaysmith1987, and in all fairness, Favors was playing with Gani Lawal and Iman Shumpert who are NBA players and Glen Rice Jr. who will be.

Tyson Chandler got like 14 million to be a 10pt 10rb 2.5 block player so if what Joe Wolf say is true than he should be the number one pick.  I have not seen him play myself though.  Also Kandi man had some great years when he was healthy but he stayed getting hurt like Oden except Oden has yet to show anything.  If Drummond stays healthy, it would be hard for any team to not pick him up.  Also I think Favors best position will be at Center and he will show more when Jefferson is traded.  I like Al but I am no sold on that combo.  I like Milsap and Favors Combo better.
