anthony8Participantthis kid is a freak athlete but he should definitely stay in college one more year. If he does so, who will be the top dog of the 2012 Draft witch is loaded with many exciting and players with tons of potential…

meisi4ParticipantAnthony Davis i guess. He at the top of many mocks already (draftexpress, hoopsworld, espn….)
But i don´t think Drummond will stay another year. If he does not go first overall he is a lock in the Top5, no matter what happens because of his possible upside and the fact that he is a big.

anthony8ParticipantI agree meisi4 couldnt even imagine Jeremy Lamb bein the # 1 pick, hes a great player but not a first overall pick.

SwatLakeCityParticipantI think you mean the 2013 draft. This next draft is the 2012 draft. If Drummond does stay another year, he would have to come out in the 2013 draft. I think he should stay another year to prove himself, especially because Oriaki will probably not be there next which would leave room for Drummond. I think he should stay, but I don’t he will. Regardless, he is a definite top 5 pick. Lamb is more like a top 10 pick. This site needs to desperately change their mock draft. I think they have a serious man crush with Jeremy Lamb.

scoutguruParticipantWardb12, no, he worded it correctly; he said who will be the top dog in the 2012 draft if Drummond decides to stay.
But yes, he probably should stay another year just to continue to develop and get a little more comfortable playing at this level, while learning the nuances of the game. He’s been solid for a freshman big, but obviously no one is looking at him as a regular freshman. There’s no reason why by next year he shouldn’t be a dominate college player. But as others have said, he does have a good chance to be a top 5 pick really, not matter what.
We see the premium the league put on big men, when a Deandre Jordan is in line for 40 mil, Amir Johnson got 32 last year, Marc Gasol’s bout to cash in, and Chandler and Nene are about to sign their second $60 million deals of their careers. Heck, Daniel Orton was a 1st round pick after 3pts, 3rbs. For Drummond, its all about upside and potential. While Drummond may never be more than a Nene (and he may not even become that), there’s still that slight chance he may be more than that, approaching a Dwight Howard, and because of that, no GM wants to be the guy that passed up on him. Sounds crazy, but thats just the basketball draft world it is nowadays…
