I’m sure y’all have missed me!!  Also, I’m sure everyone has read an article on the "amnesty clause" that is being proposed during all of the NBA labor talks.. People are reporting that there will be at least 1 clause and possibly 2!  I wanna hear some of your opinions on teams using their clause (one clause per team) and possibly a why.  Here is mine: (BTW, I am using the rosters currently on the Yahoo! Sports page)

Hawks – Marvin Williams – The easy answer is Joe Johnson for alot of people because they think he is over paid, and for good reason.. He isnt as productive as everyone thought he would be but IMO, there is a reason for that.  Johnson and Smith clash more that people think.  Smith wants to be the star but doesnt have the ability and Johnson wants to be the second option but doesnt have a Batman.. Getting rid of Marvin’s awful contract opens the door for a HUGE trade to get a better scoring player, which the Hawks need, and still stay close to the salary cap.  IMO, the Hawks need to look at the Pacers and try to squeeze Danny Granger for Josh Smith..  Just my opinion..

Celtics – Kevin Garnett – He is owed 21 million dollars this year!!!  That is insane!!  However, it would be the best move for the Celtics because I feel like they are going to start a massive rebuild centered around Rondo.  21 million helps put you in the right direction.. Afterall, this team cannot compete with The Big 3, Rondo, O’Neal, and Bradly.. And, they are over the salary cap by alot as it is… Who are they gonna sign and how??  Ray Allen is due 20 million over 2 years but he is very tradable and IDK what you do with Paul Pierce…   If you really want to piss Boston off, which I know they dont, Trade him to the Lakers for Bynum and Artest… Ouch!

Bobcats – Corey Maggette – The Bobcats are in complete rebuild mode.  Top to bottom, they are trying to cut salaries and get younger.  Well Maggette is owed over 20 million dollars for the next 2 years and and he is 31 years old.. Borris Diaw is another option but only has 1 year left on his contract for 9 million.  I think that if MJ is serious about Kemba, and I think he loves Kemba’s attitude and favors it to DJ’s, he will try to trade Augustine.. If a team is hard up for a PG, they could even try to package Diaw with him and dump a bad contract sooner rather than later.

Bulls – Carlos Boozer – Let me start by saying that I dont think the Bulls would use it on Boozer.. They would probably swing for Ronnie Brewer.. However, Boozer is my choice and here is why.  I think that Boozer was a "knee-jerk" signing.. The Bulls saw Amare and Bosh bolt and saw that Dirk wasnt an option so they got nervous they were gonna miss out too so they offered Boozer this awful contract to make sure they got something.  Now, did it work for them??? Sorta.. Rose was the MVP and they were really good.  I’m sure that Carlos had a big impact with that.. Would it have happened without him?? Who is to say??  What I do know is that with Boozer off the floor, the Bulls were more than fine with Gibson. I say admit your mistake and cut Boozer.  Your entire roster is young.  If it takes you a year to find someone that will put you back to championship status, you can wait.. And here is one last thing. Rose’s coming out party was on its way regardless of who was on his team.  How big of an impact did Boozer actually have on Rose??  Wouldnt you, as a Bulls fan, rather see a good SG and another average PF (Brandon Bass) with Rose rather than an old PF?????

Cavs – Baron Davis – This one is a "no-brainer".. If you need me to explain this one to ya, consider posting a bunch of offensive post, littered with profanity and maybe even some nude gifs because you need to be kicked off the site..

Mavs – Brenden Haywood – Pretty easy choice here.  They need room to sign Chandler and Haywood, a still productive C, doesnt need to be taking up so much space on this Mavs team.. He would be better served many other places where he could start and be a huge role.  So many teams need a productive C and he is being wasted away behind Chandler.  Maybe he would sign with the Heat and give them a physical rebounder that is over 6’8… Possibly the Hawks to let Horford play PF.. The Knicks??  Lots of options…

Nuggets – Al Harrington – The Nuggets are a tricky team.  They have lots of players that signed in China, which means they wont be back for at least a year and then they have a strange mix of players.. Some young and some old but none that really complement each other.. Regarless of team structure, Harrington has to go..

Pistons – Ben Gordon – Some of yall are going to bash me, I’m sure but look at it like this, who wants a 6’3 guard who cant play point, struggles to defend and is the absolute definition of a "chucker"???  Not this guy.. The reason I dont say Rip is because we saw that some teams are willing to take a chance on him.. If not take a chance, at least trade for him to buy him out.. Hamilton is moveable..  And, you just drafted a rookie PG that looks like he is going to be good.. Dont give him the Derrick Rose treatment and expect him to run a team with a guy that shoots the ball every other time he touches it.. IMO, you dump Gordon, go hard trying to trade Rip, retain Stucky and play him off the ball with Knight.. Charlie V is a nice complement/bench player next to Monroe.. Just a little added info, I think that Monroe will never be a great player until he is a PF night in and night out..

Warriors – David Lee – Well, they tried.. They bought the Lee hype and signed him for a pretty big contract.  Dont get me wrong, I love David Lee, but he cannot be more than a 3rd or 4th option on a championship team. He does every small thing very very very well but he cant defend and he isnt the 20-10 player he looked like in NY.. Ekpe Udoh looks like a quality PF and Bedrins had a horrible year last year but I think he will bounce back to the 10-10-2 player he was before and, he is only 25.. I think those 2 as your starters with Jeremy Tyler and Louis Amoudnson is a nice core.. They probably wont score alot, but they will defend the paint and they will rebound.  Also, who knows about Tyler, he could have a very nice offensive game… IDK..

Rockets – Luis Scola – Go ahead and hate me for this one but come on… The guy is 31 and has 4 years left on his contract… The Rockets are a very young team and he is the old man playing with the young pups.. Also, he is owed around 10 million a year for those 4 years.. Patrick Patterson has looked like the real deal and nobody is sure exaclty where the twin they drafted is going to play best.. The Rockets are trying to get to the "Post-Yao" era and cant get there if they are still making Scola a premier player on thier team..

Pacers – James Posey – He is the oldest player on the team.. Doesnt get much playing time and is the second highest paid player.. Other than Danny Granger, he gets paid triple what any other player gets… Obvious choice..

Clippers – Ryan Gomes – The Clippers are in a nice spot right now.. Kaman is going to be healthy with Griffin.  Mo Williams has some time under is belt with the team and Eric Gordon is a great player.. I want to see what they can do this year with those 4 guys.. If they bust, no big deal, Kaman has 12 million coming off the books and Williams will only have 1 year left.  Gomes is set to make over 4 million for 2 years and he doesnt ever play.. The rookie Aminu is better in every aspect..

Lakers – Luke Walton – This one could go a few different ways but right now Luke Walton is a 5 million dollar a year player that never ever ever plays.. He is behind Peace, Ebanks, and Barns… Give him is 10 million dollars and move on..

Grizz – Tony Allen – Tough choice here.. Allen is the 3nd oldest player on the team and he had a great playoff run… If they want rid of OJ, he is a great trade piece.. The Grizz are in a great spot here because they really dont need the clause.. Maybe they could just pass on it…

Heat – Joel Anthony – 12+ million over the next 4 years for this guy??? I dont like it… I know Miami fill will say that he is the hardest worker in the NBA or whatever but if the Heat want to win a championship, they cant do it with a 6’8 C with no skill… Hell, if they are willing to go small at that spot, sign Chuck Hayse… At least he has some skill and I know he wouldnt fetch more than the Vet Minimum…

Bucks – Beno Udrih – 7 million a year to be a backup?? Nah.. The Bucks made some good moves and Beno is a nice fit for this team but not with that type of money due to him..

Wolves – Martel Webster – Or David Kahn.. Webster is in a bad spot here..  Playing behind lots of young people with no light at the end of the tunnel.. He is owed 10 million over the next 2 years.. Other options include Darko, Miller, Luke, and maybe Tolliver.. As far as contracts go, the Wolves arent bad off…

Nets – Travis Outlaw – Easy answer here.  Outlaw is getting over 7 million a year.. Another "knee-jerk" signing.. Maybe Outlaw is more productive this year but he isnt what the Nets need and that is a starting SF.  In Portland, Outlaw took advantage of playing with Roy and Aldridge..

Hornets – Emeka Okafor – This team is being managed by the NBA so they are going to cut the biggest contract they can.. Well, they cant do that because everyone would go absoultly crazy.. CP3 as an unexpected FA would be one of the wildest things to ever happen in the NBA.. So, they will hack Emeka and say that its because of his production or some crap when Emaka actually has a good contract for what he brings.. By doing this, the NBA has banished CP3 to a team that doesnt have a C, doenst have a player that is close to being an allstar, and doesnt have an owner… Poor Chris… An MVP that has to play in the butt hole of the NBA… Sad story there…

Knicks – Renaldo Balkman – I am shocked to say this but, the Knicks dont have a bad contract on thier team.. Chuncy is bad but it is gone after this year.. This could be Balkman’s last stand in the NBA.. The only reason he has lasted this long is because of his early comparison the Denis Rodman.. He will be a C for some over seas team making nice moeny because he has played in the NBA before..

Thunder – Nate Robinson – They dont really have a bad contract on their team. I think they paid the right price for Perk.  Collison isnt that great but they really know how to use Collison so I think they are okay with what he makes.. Robinson expires after this year but if they could use that 4.5 million a this year to sign someone to push them over the top, they will ax him.. Thabo gets 3 million a year but he clearly has a nice role with this team.

Orlando – Gilbert Arenas – I feel like this is a "no-brainer" but I cant help but to wish I could say Hedo.. I mean Hedo plays well for the Magic, sorta, but Gilbert’s contract is just sooooo sooooooooo bad… I think Arenas can still play at a high level… I dont think that about Hedo.. Could be a mistake when Arenas signs with the Lakers and wins a championship… IDK IDK IDK… This just feels like a bad choice… We are gonna see Hedo get fat and slower and be a horroble player while makeing 11+ million dollars a year doing it…

76ers – Andres Nocioni – Sure, easy answer is Elton Brand but he is a rock for this team.. His vertan presence and consistant play isnt what people like to see but it is the best thing for the 76ers.. Nocioni makes 7 million a year for 2 more years.. He hasnt been worth a roster spot since he played for the Bulls..  Use that money to find a C to start with Brand..

Suns – Josh Childress – They jumped the gun on him because of his hair.. JK, but they did bite on him because they thought they were stealing him from someone.. He is due 6 million a year for 4 more years.. Get rid of this guy….

Blazers – Brandon Roy- Sorry… I hate to see this happen but it is what is best for the team.. Right now, he is a 17 million dollar a year player that gets 15 min a game.. His condition is never going to get better, only worse.. However, this move would help the players be contenders if they can get a nice piece with his money..

Kings – John Salmons – I want to say Fransisco Garcia but for some reason, they love him in Sac.. The Kings have already traded Salmons away once in the past 5 years so I cant see a reson they wouldnt let him go again.. He doesnt fit with their plan of youth and he is due almost 9 million a year for 4 years… Not to mention, he is old!!  This will clear up time for Tyler Honeycutt to turn into their starter…. #pipedream

Spurs – Richard Jefferson – He is due almost 10 million a year for 3 more years.. They just traded their best bench player for a rookie to replace Jefferson.  The Spurs tried the Jefferson thing and it didnt make them any better.. Now they are going to start getting younger across the board and let their Big 3 teach the pups how to play before they retire.

Raptors – Jose Calderon – The Raptors have had a nice draft pick, IMO, and they have a very promising young SG, IMO, and a declining PG that is owed 20 million dollars over 2 years..  Adios Jose!!

Jazz – Al Jefferson – Why waste more of Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter’s time???  Just get rid of the player that is ahead of both of them, let the start to grow together.. Forget about Milsap too, trade him.. Let Okur play secondary to both of them for a year.. Work on getting better with your young players… You dumped your old coach, quit playing with his players…  I say start Harris, Burkes, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter.. Then, if you win the lottery again, great!  You get to draft a super PG to replace Harris and you have completly replaced the starting lineup for the Sloan days and yo have a new rookie PG to help your team.

Wizards – Rashard Lewis – Duh… Lewis can be a good player for someone but that contract was crazy…. Anyone ever imagine what that Sonic’s team would have been like with Ray Allen, Durant, and Lewis??? Talk about some shooters…

"Collison isnt that great but they really know how to use Collison so I think they are okay with what he makes."

    Say whaaaa?

    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/5-on-5-110927/nba-#nbarank-top-100-takes

Collison "perennially ranks among the league’s best in adjusted plus-minus. Top players over the last two seasons in that category? LeBron, Durant, Nash, Chris Paul, Dirk and & Nick Collision. He’s doing something very right."

Plus, Collison’s salary per year over the next four years: $3.2mil, $2.9mil, $2.5mil, $2.2mil.

If you are able to use the Amnesty Clause on a player, then resign him for a cheaper amount to count against the cap, then I think Elton Brand is a no-brainer for the Sixers. Disclaimer: I have no clue if this will be a legal move or not.

Overal thou, I do not like the amnesty clause a whole ton. The pro to it is that if teams use it correctly, the league itself should become more competitive. The con is that it gives crappy GM’s a mulligan and does nothing to help out good GM’s. The Sam Presti principle.
