d-ravParticipantBased on glimpses last season, Amir has shown he is more than capable of taking on the big boys of the league (defensively). With Bosh gone, hopefully Triano realizes what a gem he has in Amir, and starts him as a 5 immediately in the opener, and the future. An awesome defensive presence at 6’11, blessed with insane length and athleticism, he seems a logical sidekick to Bargnani’s offense in the starting 5. Offense needs a ton of work ATM, but Raps dont really see him becoming a presence there anyway (a boost for Bargnani, not having to share the rock in the post no more) and weight, while an issue, has grown steadily enough to sustain constant battering in the post (ala Camby). With a core trio of Andrea, Demar and now Amir, plus maybe Barnes or Irving from the upcoming draft, Raps looking solid.

JoeWolf1He’s really lean too, he’s probably only 210-220, a 6’9” 210lb player would get eaten alive at the C position.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantAmir is a Long 6’9/6’10…they wish he was 6’11 or 7’0…In the NBA I’m 6’4 and a Half…

PaulsJayhawksParticipantThey start Amir at center and I want my season ticket cash back. I would pay to see him try and defend Howard though. Some horror shows are just worth the $$$

ChrischiParticipantYeah, but there is not much of a difference if you put Bargnani or Amir at the center.
Thats what I don’t get. How can you get Amir Johnson such a big contract if you already have Bargnani and a rookie PF. Do they really plan to play Bargnani at the 5 again?

NashyMingParticipantAmir Johnson is 6-11. The freaking NBA height is not his current height. It was measured when he was drafted as an 18 years old kid. He grew 2 more inches in his 2nd season. He’s actually 6-11. However, NBA never updated the height and that’s happened to many players.
NBA also would adjust the height of the players occasionally. Chris Bosh is probably 7-0, but he didn’t want to be labelled as a C, so he’s listed as 6-10. Ben Wallace is probably 6-7, but in order to make him "less undersized", they listed him as 6-9.
The NBA listed height was never intended to be accurate.

jestikParticipantHave you seen Amir in person?? He’s not 6’11". I see him in clubs in Toronto and he’s just barely taller than my friend who is a legit 6’8".
"Chris Bosh is probably 7-0"
^^ Sounds like you’re guessing. Bosh is not 7-0 either. If he is, than Bargnani is 7’2" because he’s clearly taller than Bosh.
And look at this crap…
"Chris Bosh is probably 7-0, but he didn’t want to be labelled as a C, so he’s listed as 6-10. Ben Wallace is probably 6-7, but in order to make him "less undersized", they listed him as 6-9."
So, in your mind, Bosh really is 7’0" and Big Ben is really 6’7".. so in other words Ben Wallace is 5-inches shorter than Bosh. Ummmm…. no.
Stop guessing.

SwatLakeCityParticipantWow, you must be dreaming. Amir Johnson, a center, that’ll be the day. Every team would cheer when they play the Raps. They would be even worse defensively then they already are. Amir is a 4 and strictly that.

Toronto16ParticipantIf Amir Johnson is our future centre, then God help us all.
