Am I the the only one who liked what I saw from him last night? He was playing a little nervous and jittery rightfully so the knicks started hot without him. also you never know how the garden crowd will recieve you. however he showed explosiveness off of the knee with 2 dunks. He missed some shots he's going to knock down with consistency after he shakes of the rust. Lastly he's going to learn the defensive rotations.
I liked the dunks and what I could see from a guy who hasnt played basketball in a while...
It's easy engough to see he's rusty but he's still good player and he could take minutes from the older guys. This Knicks team has a chance to be special but they have to play Defense.
I'm more concerned with him learning the defensive rotations. I watched the game last night, and when Amare made a layup, he lost his man on the other end, leading for an easy 2. There is no question that Amare will score for the Knicks (And they're gonna need it with Felton out), but defense must be screamed in his ear if they want the Eastern Conference.
Why not Gasol for Amare? It works for New York because Gasol only has one more year left. And it work for LA because of the relationship with Nash/Dantoni,theyknow the plays already. His Knees are shot but Gasol is also finished. He cant play PF anymore. He has no quickness and gets rejected by Spencer Hawes.
Spencer Hawes plays inspired D when he is knocking down jumpshots. I don't think that trade really helps either team too much. The problem with Amare being back is that it forces Melo to play the 3 when he is best suited at the 4 because he is a matchup nightmare. If you shift Melo to the 3 that just brings another slow footed player to clog up the paint and play lazy defense. Amare cuts into Novak and Wallaces minutes and those are two of the best floor spacing players you can find.
its to bad amare will likely never be the great player he once was... I really hope the knicks become even a better team with shump and s.t.a.t. back in action
