I think you might have a good idea, maybe you focus on one region a day and give a 24 hour time period for people to vote and then tally it up to decide winners.

Bit of a bummer I didn't make the final cut, was looking forward to going Butler on this tournament, but I guess I'll have to just watch from the sidelines, should be interesting if it pans out (this is ProudGrandpa we're talking about here).

As for the format, I am just fishing around for input. The idea was to have voting on just the best poster, but some people have mentioned a debate-style competition ala Around the Horn

This sounds like a cool idea, but I think I'd rather just watch. In fact, give my spot to omphalos. McBubble and I can be the announcers or something.

I bet people would take this more seriously if you changed the name. I wouldn't mention Forum MVP or anything like that, and instead stress that it is a big tournament that challenges user's intelligence. I'd also mention in the body of the topic that there will be a big audience viewing and plenty of points to go around.

Not sure how you'll actually pull off the debates, get enough people to participate or decide a winner without seeming biased; but this would be really cool if you organize it right. Good luck.

I am pretty sure I would be in the, "This guy just seems like a bro" region. But, alas, on here I am seen as semi-cereal (I guess I take basketball as cereal business). Honestly, basketball has been one of the things I have taken the most seriously in my life, for better or worse. Still, I have no idea how you would get this done.

Maybe investigate in a polling site or something to that extent? Maybe have weekly posts (hopefully in the Off-Topic board, but, if you feel you must, like many seem to, the main board) with match-ups and counting the votes. I think the divisions are a decent idea, but I feel like it does not necessarily show the diverse abilities of some posters. Again, I feel that butidonthavemoney is the Forum MVP, and that if he were not included, it would go to JNixonIggy.

So, are the 8 seeds going to have play-in games? Well, either way, I think if you took the time, you could easily make this a 64 team tourney. Also, omphalos, I would be glad to try and debate you with the 12 hour time difference. But, I do not think this should be a debate centered thing. I think you nailed the one seeds by region, though some of your seeding beyond that could maybe use some work. I have had a really hard time getting a gauge on you as a poster, you obviously seem to be a long time observer or poster of some sort. Well, good luck with everything.

How is that "getting Jimmered", by the way? Are you saying that Jimmer Fredette is the reason I am losing my hair as well? That I actually am not genetically balding, it is just Jimmer coming into my room every night with a razor? Did Jimmer convince Cliff Harris to try and return that punt from the end zone, thus giving up our only two points to Colorado? If so, than "Jimmered" I have been. But, I am happy enough to have won the award at all than to have to whine about seeding. All of the #1's have more points than I do and have been more consistent posters as I used to tend to take hiatuses. Now that I have a job where I can come on here every once in while, it is almost like juicing I suppose. Well, nonetheless, in honor of my current award of MVP, I will let Big L explain things:

Yes, it is not spelled the normal way one would spell it, but more like the way Whitley from "A Different World" would say it (For those who do not know, "In two years Dwayne Wayne became Dwyane Wade" from "Glory" by Kanye West references that show as well). Seeing that you were the bearer of off-colored and bad news, I assumed you were aware of the heated exchange between Dwyane Wade and David Stern. I guess it was only a verbal exchange, but being a person who can snap off when provoked at times, I imagine David Stern probably being a little shaken up and maybe "Checking himself before wrecking himself".
