Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipanthttp://www.stobblog.com/2011/09/houston-we-have-coach-rick-adelman-said.html
Some good news for the timberwolves in a rather boring off-season. Does Beasley stay or will Rick want him shipped out?
If he goes, what could the t-pups get for him in your mind? Player(s), Pick(s)??
Thanks.

BasketBalAllanParticipantNow if only someone would buy the team from the current owner, fire Kahn, and entice Kevin Pritchard to become the GM…
This is a step in the correct direction; there was no one better than Rick on the market. I hope they decide that Beasley is worth more to them in a trade than on the court and look for a better big to pair with Love and Williams.
This is just a random trade but, maybe something like….

Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipantNot a horrible trade at all. I like Posey, gives us an outside threat. Hibbert is an emerging center so that would also fit very well. Almost feel as if we would have to give them something more. Not sure what though.
I like the idea of the wolves getting a knock down shooter. With all the guys we have that can get to the rim, it would be nice to have someone they could kick it to.
Wes could be that, be he isn’t yet. Webster…well, he is Webster. Someone like JJ Redick would be a nice addition to this team.

Born ReadyParticipantNot bad trade at all. I would do it in a second but i don’t see pacers takeing b-easy with granger and george already filling that position. Nevertheless a smart deal

Born ReadyParticipantYour right shooting is something we need but i really am hopeing wes breaks through this year and with tolliver and webster in the fold make us forget we need another outside threat.

Bmore_DCParticipantTwolves need defense…inside and out

natedogggParticipantGreat choice by Minny, definatly best available, lets see if he can get across to some of these young wolves players. ie Beasley.

TripBzParticipantThis is a great move for the wolves! I really like Adelman as a coach, not just because of his name but the way his teams always competed and he got the best out of his players. Man I really hope we get a season, this team has the potential to gel quickly and win a lot of games.

IndianaBasketballParticipantAs a Pacers season ticket holder, I’d choke Larry Bird if he made that trade. There’s so much wrong with that trade.
First… Beasley? In INDIANA? Are you not aware of the image problem the fans have had to deal with players in the past? The last thing the Pacers need is another player who’s constantly involved in off of the court issues. We’re already dealing with Lance Stephenson.
Second… You want to trade our only true big man for a non-defense playing shot happy small forward? We already have a scoring small forward in Granger and an emerging young small forward in George. We don’t need Beasley.
We can get a better deal for Posey’s expiring contract. We need a REAL power forward, not a shot happy combo forward who can’t defend anyone.

B-ball fanParticipantIndianaBasketball is exactly right. There is no way that Indiana should do a trade like that which was suggested by BasketBalAllan. Beasley is a fairly similar player to Granger in many ways, but Granger is better at pretty much everything. I am not a huge fan of Hibbert, but he is a legitimate starting center in the NBA, unlike Tolliver. Indiana couldn’t replace him easily.
A better option for Minny may be to target a young center with much less value to their current team, such as Robin Lopez or to sign a veteran center such as Samuel Dalembert or Joel Pryzbilla. Maybe an offer of Anthony Tolliver, Malcolm Lee and a 2nd rounder could get them Robin Lopez, who was terrible last year, but has potential to be a capable center. I might just be optimistic about Phoenix parting with Lopez, though.

omphalosParticipantI’m so glad this happened, as soon as it became apparent Rambis was on the way out I thought Adelman would’ve been the ideal coach, and it’s nice to see something I’d hoped for actually pan out (unlike an end to the lockout).
I honestly don’t see Adelman tolerating Beasley’s crap when he has Derrick Williams right there waiting. I think he tries to trade him for some veteran depth to mentor his young squad or as has been suggested a starting calibre SG.
To be honest, I wouldn’t really mind if Wes Johnson was traded for a legit SG, I just don’t see him as a good fit with this team.

BasketBalAllanParticipantWhen I posted that trade, I was thinking that those would be the type of players the Wolves need to look for if they were to trade Beasley. Since it took about half a second to think of that trade I did not look at it in depth from the Pacers side of the deal, because in reality I would not wish Beasley on anyone.
On another note, Omphalos brings up a great point in saying that the Wolves could also target a legit SG to help them out. I cannot help thinking that Kevin Martin would work out perfect for them but I do not know if they could get him.

omphalosParticipantCourtney Lee would be a nice SG to target, and possibly attainable using their expendable assets. Plus, he’d be familiar with Adelman’s system, has playoff experience, is a team-first player and brings a defensive mindset.

HitsterParticipantI have to agree with Indianabasketball that there would be no way that the Pacers give up a legit 7ft 2ins defensive presence in a trade which only offers them Beasley in effect back.
Rick Adelman is an excellent choice to try and take the team forward, he has huge experience and not let us forget that he got the 2009/10 Rockets to 40 wins with a limited roster and often made that team punch above it’s weight when Yao and T-Mac were out. He can hopefully bring out the best in a young roster and might even make Darko into a decent NBA player!

kngojcParticipantWhat about a trade to Orlando? I think even if the Wolves traded for less value, they’d be okay with just getting decent players for the future and maybe even a draft pick or two.
Orlando trades:
Daniel Orton – play him at C for the Wolves and try to get him to be a shutdown guy in the paint.
JJ Reddick – a spot up shooter with lots of experience, and with a leading role, can fill it up.
Chris Duhon – filler for the deal but has some experience to give Rubio some balance in his game.Minnesota trades:
Michael Beasely – finally someone who can consistently score besides DH12 and will grow with Patrick Ewing giving him some valuable lessons.
Martell Webster – another scorer/shooter who can maybe fill his potential and would benefit hugely from all the pressure on DH12 and would get lots of open looks.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/14/2011 - 9:23am #599994
iguapops420ParticipantHorrible trade for Indy IMO. Beasley is worse version of Granger. Hibbert is almost untouchable in Minny. If I’m them I’d trade a portion oof my youth for a legit big to pair with Love. Someone like Gasol or Duncan. Maybe even take a chance on a guy Like Oden. Hope that a guy like Roy gets amnesty cut and just continue to develop. Try and create a form of the Kings of early 2000’s.
Someone mentioned Courtney Lee. I like that idea as he reminds me somewhat of Christie.
