I really wish the Chicago Bulls weren’t so far over the salary cap.  A guy like Aaron Brooks would be very beneficial as the starting point guard while Derrick Rose is out, recovering from a torn ACL.  But the fact is, they are and they won’t be able to get him.

Houston now needs a point guard, losing point guard Goran Dragic to free agency and trading Kyle Lowry to Toronto.

They have an offer sheet to Jeremy Lin, but I think New York will match the sheet, and bring him back to the Big Apple.

Maybe the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks would be good landing spots for Brooks…

The Kings would be a very good spot for Brooks, they have Isaiah Thomas, don’t get me wrong, little man is legit and will be a very good player, but I’d much rather have Brooks, who is a proven vet, start over IT. Sac tried to pursue Kyle Lowry very agressively and likely would already have Lowry on their roster had T Rob not fallen to them. With Brooks on the Kings I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see them fighting for a playoff spot

Hard to believe that only 2 years ago,Brooks was considered a borderline All Star and Houston’s point guard of the future….

the guy is super quick and a deadly shooter. He’s pure offense and has the ability to be a legit starting PG as we saw a couple years ago when he won MIP. I don’t see him getting a huge pay day because of his last year as a Sun and he played in China last year against lower competition and his stats don’t really indicate whether he bounced back or just was that much better regardless than other players over there. Not many teams need starting point guards now and many teams have 2 pgs that could start, i expect brooks to take a backup role for a team with a weaker starting PG that he may be able to outplay throughout the course of the season. Playing with Thomas in Sacramento, a player roughly the same caliber as him, might result in them competing with each other for minutes (a good thing), Maybe back to Houston as a starter depending on what terms he left on, or maybe the Magic sign him during the season if it seems like Jameer Nelson declines any further, plus they might need scoring badly depending on if Howard is traded for mostly young players and picks.

I must disagree with bostonkings and terrancebower.  Isaiah Thomas is and will be the superior player to Aaron Brooks.  As a rookie, IT was much better than Brooks was in his last NBA season.  IT is more efficent and a more complete overall player, not just a scorer.  The Kings would be better off addressing their needs for a good back-up big man, especially if Thompson leaves and looking for an upgrade at sf, although that might be best addressed next year.

So I’m betting that Brooks either goes back to Houston or signs with Dallas. I think both teams will go for him first and whoever loses will likely get Ramon Sessions.
