the 96 bulls would wash the warriors. rodman would bottle up green at center during small ball lineups. tony and pippen would dominate up front and Jordan would shut down clay. and curry would not outscore Jordan. with no rim protection Jordan and pippen would have a field day.

I have posted about this, and about a DREAM TEAM of a combination of these two teams — Steph, MJ, Pippen, Klay Thompson, Iggy, Kukoc, Rodman, Draymond, and those serviceable centers would give you an IDEAL basketball team.

The X Factor in a game of Bulls vs. Warriors would be Toni Kukoc.  A legit 3 man who can play some 4, or possibly even the 5 as a 6’11 (albeit wispy thin) stretch center).  He can also handle the ball, pass, shoot the 3, and rebound some.  If you have Draymond Green on Kukoc in small ball lineups then Rodman kills you on the boards.  If Dray is face guarding Rodman then Kukoc picks you apart then hits 3’s in your face.

The Bulls could go with Harper, MJ, Pippen, Rodman, and Kukoc with Kukoc being a 3 point threat as a point center/stretch center.  Pippen drives, MJ, as the master of the mid-range, also posts up.  If Harper’s shot is working then the Bulls would be in GREAT shape.  Or, those Bulls could use Steve Kerr as the 3 point sniper and use him as a free safety.  Put MJ, Pippen, and Rodman on the top 3 Warriors’ scoring options, use Kukoc as the last line of defense in the paint, and hide Kerr on the corner 3 guy.

the league is mad watered down now. we in a transition phase kind of like right after mike retired and a lot of his era guys were either getting old or retiring. same now a lot of the greats players are old and most of the real talented players haven’t quite hit their prime.

of my College experience……. But just to counter your points….. The NBA added SIX (6) expansion Franchises between 1989 – 1995 which Completely watered down the League for a few years…….. B/c it was going to take several years for the Expansion teams to get up to snuff……… And for the League to recalibrate itself absorbing SIX new 12 man Roster spots…….

Next, the Bulls were built to play at the Height of the ISO-ball era……. The Hand-Check was outlawed in 1994 & the Zone defense was allowed in 2002……

So the Bulls played at a time when the ball would be thrown to the Super Star & he would wave to Clear Out the Entire one side of the Court………. One man would go One v. One guarding the Super Star…….. While the other 8 players watched……….

The Bulls – as great as they were on Defense – NEVER played a Team that Moved W/O the Ball the way Golden State does……

Another point to remember is the 1996 Bulls were Older than the First 3 peat team…… Jordan was 33, Pippen 31 & Rodman 35……. Another HUGE point is that Horace Grant was a MUCH better Offensive Weapon than Rodman……. & Grant was in Orlando in 1996……. So think about that….

The Bulls had ONE player who Averaged more than 19 points in 1996 – Jordan…….. They only had TWO players who Averaged more than 8 points…. Pippen & Jordan……… but Pippen’s points were produced in transition…….. Pippen was NOT a Good shooter………

So these Older Bulls would play against a Warriors team All in their Mid-20’s………. They would Pack in a Zone on Defense & Chicago would be Forced to shoot Over them…… & Only Jordan could do that……….

At the other end, these 30+ y/o Bulls would have to chase these young warriors Endlessly……… All the way out to have court while they ran off Endless Ball Screens…….. & they would be Forced to do this for 48 minutes a game for 7 games…….

And you think the 96′ Bulls would Sweep under those circumstances???…….. When they needed 6 games to beat teams like Seattle & Utah………… Who were set up Exactly like Much Older versions OKC now???

And remember we Still have Not even Seen the Best version of Golden State b/c they have Not even hit their prime yet……. No Way……. I Hate comparing ERA’s b/c it’s really Not fair for either team……… But The Bulls are No Way sweeping that team…….

Jordan could steal 2 or 3 games by himself…….. but I got Golden State winning at home in game 7 to take the Series….. IMHO……

I think it matters what rules they are playing with. Hand-checking on the perimeter has drastically changed the game. Jordan and Pippen wouldn’t be able to lock down Curry and Thompson to the same extent.

Another thing that would be drastically different with today’s game and in particular this Warriors team is that you literally have to cover them out to 30-35 feet. This would open the entire floor for GS role players and GS has at least 5 guys you HAVE to cover from 3.

If it’s 96 rules then yes Bulls in 4 or 5.

If it’s 2016 rules then it probably goes 7 games and either team could win.

I’m sorry but the mid 90s had NOWHERE NEAR the talent that today’s game has with the exception of the C position (which, again, has been greatly diminished as the rules have changed).

There has never been a player with an overall repertoire like Lebron (skill set and measureables).

The same goes for KD (a 6’11" SF that can shoot from anywhere and handle the ball)

There has never been a PG as athletic and relentless as Russell Westbrook.

Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter that has EVER played the game.

And even though I would agree that the center position is water down to an extent, we still has several big men (Gasol, Cousins, Anthony Davis, Towns, etc.) who are arguably more skilled overall than most big men before them. These guys can play defense, and rebound, and shoot, and pass, and score from the post. How many big men checked ALL those boxes in the 90s? 2? 3?

That doesn’t even include A LOT of other players who aren’t as unique as those mentioned above, but are outstanding in there own right. (CP3, Kawhi Leonard, Harden, Paul George, John Wall, Blake Griffin, Jimmy Butler, Damian Lillard, Marc Gasol, Wiggins, and others).

I’m certainly not saying that the greatest players of the 90s couldn’t play and be great in the 2010s. I think they could. Jordan, Pippen, Malone, Stockton, Ewing, Robinson, Payton, Olajuwon, Barkley etc. could certainly stack up and many of them could even be better.

But from an overall depth of talent standpoint, give me 2016.

They wouldn’t sweep the Warriors, but they’d win the series.  Probably 4-2.  Jordan/Pippen/Harper all elite defenders that are all bigger and more athletic than both Thompson and Curry.  Rodman would dominate the glass.  I’m not sure the series would be all that competitive.  The Warriors match up very poorly vs the 95-96 Bulls.
