It has been a while but here it goes:

    1. A rift between the players is the best thing that can happen for the fans of the NBA.. (Thats us!)

    2. When the NBA comes back, it will be the best thing that has happened in the league beacuse of all of the suspence that has been building.  After the great year they had and all of the excitement about the coming season, the NBA will explode onto SportsCenter and a TV near you.

    3. There was a post about OJ Mayo recently and a response ther really annoyed me.. It went somethign like this : "Mayo doesnt have the ability to consistantly create his own shot."   In my opinion, that is as far off possible.. Creating for himself is the part of his game that is the strongest. During his rookie and sophomore years, when he was scoring 20 points a game, he was scoring 12 points of those were him creating.

    4. This FA period will be the craziest in recent memeory.. Not because of the talent but because of the amout of players and the short time.  Some teams only have 6 players signed on the roster..  Teams need players and there are plenty of them to be signed..

    5. The rookie class will be stronger than people think.. I think that Irving will be solid and Tristian Thompson will look like a young Amare.  Rubio will be a nice change of pace from most young PGs because he is not an explosive freak. Kanter and Burkes will be solid and Williams will look like a poor mans version of Blake Griffin..

    6. College basketball will be more exciting that recent years because of the returing talent to the game. Guys like Sullinger, Barns, Jones, and freshmen like Rivers, Drummond, and others.. Fun year to see NBA talent.

    7. All of the cofrence realignment is going to be crazy for football but people dont realize that it affects basketball too.  Not this year but as soon as the next, people will get to see some teams they arent used to seeing.

    8. Rumor is that a bunch of the young NBA players like Griffin, Westbrook and others are part of the group that wants to just play.. I think they understand that without the NBA, they have wasted most of thier life developing a skill they cant use.. They jsut want to play and accept 1 million dollars less than they would normally get… The young players remember what it was like to be broke and realize that even will a million less dollars, they are still paid tons of money to play a game…  Older guys dont remember where they came from and they are just fighting for a number.. The actual money doesnt mean much to them..

I disagree with you about the lockout being the best thing for the league.  Guys like us who are die hard fans will watch no matter what, but a lot of casual fans will lose intrest or stop watching.  The NBA took a big hit after the 99 lockout and that was also in part to Jordan’s retirement and a lot of those superstars from the 90’s falling off a bit and most of today’s superstars are in their primes, but I’d expect some backlash and drops in ratings.  No league has ever locked out to the point where regular season games were cancelled and had ratings increase the next season.

the only thing about that tho, is the great players are gonna play no matter what…who cares about the casual fan? the only thing it will do is lower the ticket prices for us real fans!

Yeah, I’m with wolf.  Guys that are household names are leaving the league in the next 3 years or are falling off talent-wise.  Guys likes Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, even Kobe Bryant are falling off, this is a HUGE transition period for the NBA.

Casual fans that don’t know John Wall, Russell Westbrook, and Blake Griffin.. simply WON’T care about them anymore since they’ve lost the exposure.

Exactly, and it also effects younger fans too.  I remember I was 12 and the MLB strike of 94 happened, I was too young to know or care about collective bargaining, unions or profit sharing and I simply stopped watching baseball and really became a bigger basketball fan (no regrets, haha).  I was at the time where I was going into 7th grade and needed to make a decision whether to concentrate on baseball or basketball and the lockout did play a part in that for my 12 year old mind.  Many say it took the MLB until the 98′ home run race 4 years later to recover from that, and I think this lockout will effect the league more than many think.  It’s a shame because last season was my favorite NBA season to watch in probably a decade and it was in part because of those casual fans.  Those are the people helping sell out games, without them water cooler talk doesn’t really involve the NBA, and without them it’s not good for the game.  Yes, they do annoy me from time to time, but the envolvement of more people make things more exciting.

Kobe i NOT falling off friend. One bad year doesn’t mean someone is falling off. Can’t wait for the season to start so that you can eat your words.

With Drummond now in the mix, this just might be a top 5 college season of all time

Yeah this is going to hurt the NBA. I think we are headed toward lockout through the end of the year. I’m hoping the players are going to continue to stand strong though even though it means no basketball. Owners just pi$$ me off and I don’t want to see them win. Anyone who says the players shouldn’t holdout or don’t need to holdout remember that the Owners first offer was to go from players getting 57% of BRI to 37% of BRI with a hard cap. That was actually part of the initial offer. The league actually through that in the players faces. You know what would happen if the typical CEO went to his employees and told them they were all taking a 40% paycut? He would get strung up. If the players had caved easy on even the 50-50 deal, we might be looking at another lockout soon.

I hate the owners. If they wanted to have parity and allow small market teams to be financially able to compete with big markets it would be as simple as requiring every home team to split the "gate" (i.e., ticket prices) and TV revenue with the visiting team. First, that is a perfectly fair thing to do because you can’t have a game without both teams being there. We can definitely have NBA games without "do nothing" owners.  And second it would mean the small market teams would at least get some of the big TV money when they played away games in the big markets. Though that said, I don’t care if small market teams have a disadvantage. There should be some advantage for a team that has 10 million fans over a team that has 1 million. The team with 10 million fans should win more championships. That is just good for the fans in general.

i didn’t post anything on the mayo topic at all.. but just wondering… what were his shot % on those iso plays, and how many times did it happen per game… these are high % shots taken away from Zbo and gasol..

College ball is going to be great this year. So much talent and more people will tune in to see it then ever. These athletes will be more scrutinized then ever so I wouldn’t expect any surprises in next years draft in terms of players being overlooked or over valued.

"Kobe is NOT falling off friend. One bad year doesn’t mean someone is falling off. Can’t wait for the season to start so that you can eat your words."

Honestly, I think he had a great year. His per 36 minute stats were great, and all that considering he didn’t practice much last year. His field goal percentage was also good, so in a sense he can still ball obviously, but in another sense, he fell off big time.

He can still score, but he has lost A LOT OF ATHLETICISM. He needs a better point that can throw him a better entry pass. It was evident in the Dallas sieres. Young Kobe would go off for 50 in games 3 and 4. Old Kobe can try with all his might, but can’t do it without help.
