ESPN just put an article out about Embiid,Saric and Okafor and things don’t look so good in Philly.  Saric clearly isn’t coming over next year given if he waits one year he doesn’t have to take the current rookie pay scale.  After the new TV Deal rookie deals could be double what they are now so waiting the year makes so much sense. He gets more money and doesn’t join a team that won’t win more then 20 games.  Embiid isn’t likely to see the court until preseason begins.  He hasn’t played in two years and is going to be given serious minute restrictions all year hes not going to put up KAT numbers anytime soon.  Lastly Okafor is the one they want to trade over Noel.  Okafor has said he would think about pulling the Greg Monroe and sign a one year deal just to get out of their in the past. Philly has to think this is a possability why else would they want to trade a younger center with better offensive capabilities.  For those that argue his trade value is higher then Noel I won’t argue that but its not much higher then Noel neither player is bringing back an all star or a pick better then #3.

When has the 76ers future ever looked bright?

If I was a philly fan I would have faith in colangelo. Build around Simmons and hope they get value back from jah or nerlens.

You’re absolutely right. The last time the 76ers future looked bright was right after the Andrew Bynum trade, when the 76ers thought they’d be title contenders. That lasted until preseason when Bynum’s knees blew up. It’s been dismal since.

The fact they got the #1 pick should be a lot of incentive for Okafor to "want" to stay there , but what the org does with him is a different story.

they have 3 first rounders albeit 2 are late first…maybe they can trade 1 or both of those for a 1-2 yr guard starving for minutes on playoff team..I am thinking on the lines of Delon Wright or Aaron Harrison for 1 of those picks and a future, esp Wright. or trade both and Noel to Atl for Schroder and Tavares. Atl blowing it up likely anyway.

In Saric to begin with.  What player who is serious about being jn the NBA signs a 3 yr deal to play elsewhere – right before the draft ?  The best part of that trade was getting back our 1st round pick in 18 or 19 that was dealt away.  As much as they need a point guard – keeping elfrid Payton – or as bad as they shoot – taking Doug McBuckets – also wouldn’t have been bad

Now by the time Saric comes over there won’t be a spot for him and I wouldn’t overpay him to be a spectator on the bench.  I’d see if I could unload his rights for a mid late 1st rounder

Yeah pretty much exactly what SuperChronics said.

It’s still going to take at least 5 years for them to be approaching relevancy in terms of winning basketball games, but building around Simmons and one good guard is a good starting point.

Obviously there are still a lot of question marks around him, but Embiid has all the tools to become very good IF he can get healthy.

A core of Simmons, Embiid, Noel and whatever decent guard they can get for Okafor (I like Murray in terms of fit), is a decent foundation to start building the roster.

There is Lorenzo Ball, Dennis Smith, and DeAaron Fox next year. Saric plays the same position as Ben Simmons meaning he is not gonna start over him so if he comes over he is gonna shut up and play or get traded. They don’t have to trade Okafor or Nerlens Noel  …The media wants them too one is not even 20 years old they need that insurance just in case Emblid isn’t ready. If he is you keep the best 2. They will be in the lottery next year and they have the ability to get the higher of picks between them and Sacramento. No matter who LA gets unless they tank again the Sixers have their pick and Sacramento in 2018…which will be in the lottery. They also have cap space. They are in a better position than most teams …not to mention the 24th and 26th picks that they can package…Keep.ish Smith this year let the youngins learn how to play together next year get the PG and trade one of the big for something else….The future is very bright for the Sixers…..

Is this a joke we already knew all this.  Saric not coming over cuz were getting Simmons and with Simmons we dun need Saric.

Okafor has more trade value then Noels and the Sixers are tryna get in position to draft a guard like Murray to pair with Simmons

Embiid has had a setback hes on schedule which has been to start in preseasn all along

Theyre about to rebuild around Simmons, Embiid with a ton of cap space, assetts and the best practice facility in the league whu does the future not look bright again?

What’s the point of this post? They’ll still be able to grab Simmons and build around him so their future is looking brighter than it has in the past 10 years or so.

Mad as hell we won the lottery and the rights to Simmons

Mad as hell they can’t draft Ingram

Mad as hell you can’t trade for a “Superstar”

Mad as hell you’re 1st round fodder with no Star on the roster

Give Philadelphia fans a break with garbage hate post like this…

We are drafting the Best Prospect in the Draft

We drafted 2 Big Guys at 3 that were considered the best prospects in their class at 1 point (before KAT emerged and Embiid injured his foot)

We have unlimited Cap Space and Assets to build around Simmons and which ever C they love most

Thread Over…Notice how I didn’t predict any Championships or Hall of Fame careers for Ben and Company, Im patient enough to see how this will all work out, because if we completely such again next year, we’ll just add another Top 3 PG and hopefully another G with that Lakers pick

A different way to look at it is we’re finally in position to draft "the guy" to build around. If Embiid’s healthy he’s another building block. Ok4 and Noel can be complimentary players or used to get other pieces. We have 5 first round draft picks in the next 3 years including all of our own which are probably top 10 for the next 2 years, Plus Sacramento’s pick in 2019 which should also be top 10 and swap rights with Sac. in 2017. Saric is another piece/asset. Gloomy indeed.

As much as I bag out 76ers, the Simmons Embiid combo could easily be the best frontcourt in the league.

Embiid was a beast a 7’0" but he legit grew to 7’2" which gives cause for optimism and concern at the same time. Dude is a big boy. Probably the biggest guy in the league.

In fact I dont know how teams could stop a Simmons/Embiid picknroll.

None, especially when they add some shooters to the mix.

So in more recent knews Embiid has  been cleared to play 3 on 3 and made a cameo at the end of Ingrams workout where he did a windmill dunk after dribbling thru traffic.

For what I have seen, Simmons can’t shoot well enough to play at the 3, and his natural position is probably 4, a position where the Sixers can already fill with either going big with Nerlens or, and probably a better solution, trying to have Saric come over and be an european style stretch-4 (I have seen some people thinking Saric is a 3, but the guy is slow as hell and between 6’10 and 6’11-he should play 4).

Picking Simmons seems like the pick Hinkie would have made… The arguably best prospect (or rather most hyped) on the field regardless of the team needs and issues.

Colangelo may (should?) change that philosophy and try to build a team that can win games.

Right now I feel like the future is clearly not looking appealing, and perhaps not picking Simmons is a good way to shake things up and move on the right path.
