valentineThe big Senegalese/UNC Irvine Junior, Mamadou Ndiaye is declaring for the NBA Draft.
I haven’t seen much in-game footage…just highlights, but he actually seems quite coordinated and skilled (relatively speaking)…but everyone knows College and NBA is a different beast.
What is his outlook. Do you want him on your team?
Is there even a place for a 7’6" bigman in the game anymore. There’s not many precedents, but a few have ranged from servicable (Shawn Bradley) to Dominant (Yao Ming).
Some of the oldschool guys had the advantage of just camping under the ring to block shots and get rebounds…which is illegal now and works against them.
Nonetheless, I’m rooting for the big man.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantHaven’t watched him at all but I know one thing, size gets you drafted

cjwParticipantHe only played like 20 minutes per game in college and lacks coordination, but maybe he could be a decent rim protecter off the bench.

mikeyvthedonParticipantOf course one would want him to do well, he is 7’6 with an 8’3 wingspan and 9’9 standing reach (from reliable sources). Even the first few times he runs up and down the court at adidas Nations, was kind of surprised by how well he did so. However, the fifth time he ran down the floor, things start changing. It seems that conditioning will never be his strong suit, through no fault of his own, he tries hard.
More so than that, he has a lot of trouble moving sideways, people can blow by him laterally. With the emphasis on speed, and with NBA players having so much of it, he actually becomes a major defensive liability. Even with his insane physical tools. Offensively, he reacts incredibly slowly as well, his hands are not very good and he is quite mechanical. Their is slow, and than their is Mamadou Ndiaye, it is really to that extent. He seems like a great person, just really do not think a team can draft him knowing these things.

HitsterParticipantSomeone could take a flyer on him in late second round but more likely a team maybe has a look at him in D-League or pre-season. He seems like a decent guy so I hope he finds a team somewhere even if he has to go abroad.

European BasketballerParticipantI’m not sure what league he will play in abroad. With the way most leagues play now in Europe for example, he cannot guard any power forwards or centers most of the game, because they mostly all play 25-30 feet from the basket.

OaktownWarriorsParticipantHomeboy will get his chance, but he will have to work his way onto a roster.

DaGuywhodidurmaParticipantSaw him play a couple of games and he gets tired easily around the 4 minute mark. When he went against tacko fall you could tell the difference in athleticism between the two. Tacko runs and moves in a more fluid manner.
I think ndiaye could play for some team off the bench if they have good defensive wings so they can funnel opposing players to him like Indiana did with hibbert. But even then with his conditioning and lack of quickness I don’t think he will ever be more than a change of pace big off the bench. He has a nice looking shooting stroke and had improved his ft shooting every year
