it’s been a rough start for the pac 12 conference with ucla falling flat on their face and washington, cal and arizona all losing embarrasing games. However undefeated stanford, who I personally predicted to finsh 6th in the conference, is undefeated and has a chance to save some face for the conference by defeating top 5 ranked syracuse. Looking forward to the  game, it will be on tommorow afternoon at 2pm.

    What are your predictions?

I also had Stanford 6th in my Pac 12 rankings and I will be definitely watching this one. We need to figure Stanford out and this will be our best chance to do so before conference play. Note this game is 2pm pacific time.

Look for 5-0 Syracuse to win. They are better at every spot, except PF maybe with the Powell guy. But I think CJ Fair matches up with him pretty well evem

I’m going to this game tommrrow it’s on at 5pm though Virgina Tech and Oklahoma State play before this at 230pm. Why is Dwight Powell coming off the bench, I though this guy is going to be a future 1st round draft pick?

i’ve watched powell and he is an intriguing prospect but he still has work to do. Right now he is a sf with weak perimter skills, cause if they try and play him at pf he will get eaten alive by physically tougher guys. Think Charlie villanueava but even softer at this point. Plus i believe he has had some injury issues in the early going missing a couple games which is why he might be coming off the bench.

Fair/Melo/Christmas/Keita (in no particular order) should be able to contain Owens and Powell. They’re a talented 4-4 combo but Cuse’s length, athleticism and depth at the PF/C spots will be too overwhelming for them.

One spot where Stanford has the advantage is at PG. Scoop is a better all-around player but over the last couple years we haven’t been particularly great at containing quick, dynamic point guards like Stanford’s Aaron Bright.

I think this tournament will be a real confirmation of Joseph as a truly elite player in the nation, building off last night’s 20 and 10 effort as he continues to show greater toughness and assertiveness on both ends. I see a final somewhere in the vicinity of 78-66 in favor of SU.

Syracuse looks like one of the most complete teams ive seen…they have true positions, length, athelticism, ball handling and decent shooters…i find it intriguing how much theyve played man-to-man so far (i think they should do it more)…i think they will be too much for Stanford, but ive been following Powell for awhile now and it wont be easy for Cuse…but when you have the talent and depth the Orange has, they are going to be hard to beat.

Usually the way i look at college teams is how many top recruits/future NBA prospects you have (doesnt always work) and Cuse is stacked with them…Stanford? not so much

these refs are bad, the and1 that Fair had was not a foul and then Waiters hit that layup on the goaltending and they don’t call a block or charge.

that block/charge play the outside ref did blow his whistle and then when the under the rim ref singled to count the basket the outside ref just played along and didnt step up and make his call.

washington and cal are both very good teams. I cant explain what happened to cal vs missouri, but thats just one game. And washington’s loss to st louis doesnt look so bad now as the billikens improved to 5-0 today with an easy win over previously undefeated villanova. And i dont think todays loss is exactly a bad one for stanford going into big east country and playing a tough back and forth game where they led the majority of it.

yeah i agree this wasn’t a bad lose for Stanford. This is the third time i’ve watched them and i must say out of all the teams i’ve seen in the pac 12 they have impressed me just as much as Washington. They have a team that doesn’t rely on one player, they have many players who can get it done and they have a deep bench. The best thing i like about them is the fact that they play hard nose defense (i’m sure Dawkins got that from Coach K). Arizona and UCLa just aren’t as good as their preseason hype. The turner kid is not as good as his hype either
