Hard to remember team needs but I would personally take Damian lillard over Drummond purely on the way the game is being played now.

I shouldn’t have put those team names in there, I was just using them as slots, it was more like if they had to do it over again who offers the best combination of production/potential.  And FWIW both Drummond and Lillard have more Win Shares than Green, who is overrated and a dirty dirty fuck. I’d love having Draymond on my team, but as a basketball fan he’s really annoying and he benefits greatly from the GSW system.   I don’t think he reaches his current level of "stardom" in any other situation.

I’m not sure I’d take Barnes over MKG, Crowder or Barton to be honest.

But he has the skills to put up gawdy numbers if he was asked to be a focal point on a team.  He’s a versatile forward who can shoot, score, and defend at well above league average.  He’s getting a lot of criticism for the way he performed during the playoffs, but he’s still extremely young with championship expierience. No one is saying he is a legitmate superstar but he’s solid and normally steady.

They selected Mo Harkless BTW, they traded him, Iggy, Vucevic and a future 1st round pick to Denver/Orlando just to inherent Andrew Bynum and his plastic knees

The fact we decided to blow it all up that short of a time ago, to where we are now should put things into perspective

We completely gutted our roster because of that disaster of a trade, gotta give Hinkie some damm credit after the previous GM destroyed our franchises nucleus (Iggy, Thad, Holiday, Turner, Vucevic, Harkless)

So think about that people, it was only 2 and half years of straight outta Compton Tanking…We have Simmons/Embiid/Okafor/Noel/Saric and several assets moving forward thanks to Sam the Man Hinkie

He should not have been fired, it was the damn media and the way they portrayed what was going on in PHI that cost him his job.  He was winning by losing and all forward thinking basketball minds know it. Pea brained pundits like Stephen A., Skip, and Chris Broussard constantly reporting on how "disgraceful" the 76ers became as a franchise and the negative "culture" that was infectious was downright slander on the man’s vision.  5 years ago the 76ers squeaked into the playoffs and advanced out of the first round thanks to a fluke injury.  4 years ago they were mediocre and narrowly missed contending for that same 8th playoff spot. And for 3 years they have been awful, and remember only 2 years were they the worst team in the league. 2 years as the bottom dweller, that’s all. That’s a blip.

Fast forward, they now have exciting young players in Okafor and Noel, prized assets in Embiid and Saric, a handful of young guys who could turn into solid rotation guys (Grant, Canaan, Covington, Thompson, Stauskas, McConnel, Marshall, Wood) who have been getting boatloads of live action against the best players in the world, and everyone knows the best way to get better at basketball is play against better competition. The top pick in the draft this year (Likely Simmons) and two additional first rounders in this draft, the Lakers pick next year if it lands outside the top three or unprotected in ’18. And everyone of those guys is on a team friendly deal right now as they are all working on rookie contracts or league minimum.  They have enormous cap space, and if I’m Mike Conley(age 28) I’d be seriously looking at coming into PHI and being the quarterback of a loaded team moving forward. I’d be selling the idea on any other established young free agent too and already start recruiting (Barnes, Fournier, Turner, Lin) guys to come start laying the foundation.  To me, if I’m any of those aformentioned vets, PHI is a much better destination than NYK, CHI, WAS, HOU, DAL, or LAL unless something crazy happens like Durant signing somewhere other than OKC.

Honestly the only real mistake he made was insulting KJ McDaniels, which in the grand scheme of things wasn’t that big.  I mean this guy was even smart enough to sell high on MCW at his absolute peak.  Hinkie was a chessmaster, and as time goes by all his moves are going to look genius.  Noel for Holliday looked ridiculous at the time but right now it’s looking really damn good.  I just hope Colangelo doesn’t F this up by this idea that there is pressure to win now.

The criticism didn’t come from true 76ers fans, they knew what the plan was.  It was from these asshats who hated the fact that Philly had no desire to fake it.  I for one admire there honesty and commitment to the plan, and if they can show just a tad bit of patience the results are going to come.  This idea that you can’t play two bigs together is ludicrous.  Have we already forgotten about the TWIN TOWERS in Duncan and Robinson that won titles.  Do we ignore the 67 games the Spurs won this year with two top notch bigs (Aldridge and Duncan albeit he isn’t what he was but he’s still a damn fine player).  It’s not about following what the other guy is doing, this isn’t the NFL, this isn’t a copycat league.  It’s about creating your team with the options you have available.

If I was in charge of Sacramento, I’d be making calls to Hinkie right now.  I’m sure he could continue fleecing the NBA and getting max value.  The question you have to ask yourself, is it better to be the 8th seed, or the guy drafting 1st overall?  There is only one real answer to that question by the way.

These are, and will always be Sam Hinkie’s 76ers, unless Bryan Colangelo screws them up.

Look at the other proffesional sports leagues and look at where success has gone to teams who landed a top pick and/or sold high on their star players:

Pittsburgh Penguins got Sidney Crosby and built a team around him. 2 cups
Carolina Panthers got Cam Newton, from 1-15 to Super Bowl in 3 years.
Chicago Cubs got rid of everyone and focused on the future (How bad does that Szmadrja/Russel and whatever reliever the sent to SD for Rizzo look right now?)

The Patriots have been trading guys for picks for years, and been able to stretch Tom Brady’s window wide open.
The Blackhawks are regularly shipping of players at their percieved apex in order to get younger.
The Colts dumped Peyton a year before he broke the TD record and got Luck for doing so.
The Royals built through the draft and took their lumps and have two straight World Series appearances and a Ring to show for it.

Good things come to those who wait and trust the process rather than focusing on immediate results.
