BradfomsParticipantI feel bad for all those established college players who worked so hard to prove themselves over 4 years, and don’t get picked because these picks get used on European projects who may never even touch American soil…something about it rubs me the wrong way…thoughts?

Meditated StatesParticipantTeams save money and just stash these Euro players away for a few years. Crazy, cause I would want the immediate help. Guys like Manu kind of got teams using this philosophy.

bkb77ParticipantAnother one r u &$#%#&@! kiding me. Theres no Justice here. Apparently ur better off playing in europe & averaging 2ppg then working hard & playing at a top level in the NCAA.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantEuro Leagues are better then NCAA’s, and it is easier to hide talent, internationally!
time to go back to 3 rounds, or time to stop bitchin

Scottoant93ParticipantI would normally say quit bein racist as im from italy, but I have to agree Some international players drafted late should have went undrafted, there were plenty of players who deserved to be drafted instead. Hopefully those players find themselves on a team, and wish them the best of luck

ghettosermonParticipantIt makes total sense, they kept mentioning Ben Hansborough. Why would the Lakers pick him, he wouldn’t make their roster so they would end up cutting him and getting no return on the pick. Might as well stash as many foreign assets as you can and hope one develops. At the end of the day you only own their rights but you get to watch them develop while another team pays them to do so. For example everyone thought Joe Crawford was a great late pick for the Lakers. What happens? They cut him after having to pay him and got no return on the pick. Who went a few picks later? Semih Erden a guy who they didn’t need to bring over immediately and could have reaped the benefits later. People bash on taking Chu Chu but the thing is being their Dleague affiliate and sending Ebanks and Character there they would know Chu Chu and how he projects to the league.

Rowe ZayParticipantWell said.
These college players can always go over to Europe and apply their trade and possibly end up in the NBA in 2 or 3 years. Its not like you fall completely off the NBA radar when you’re having success overseas, but a lot of times these guys like the stability & money that comes with Europe compared to being a training camp invitee.
We had 2 guys in Gary Neal & Pooh Jeter who made NBA rosters after having played in Europe.

Ball1SLife41ParticipantGreg Smith, Giorgi Shermadini, Rick Jackson, Damian Saunders, Brad Wanamaker, Malcolm Thomas, Jacob Pullen, David Lighty, Ben Hansbrough, and Matt Howard not drafted.
I saw Lightly’s workout and he seems to be ready to help a team out ASAP.
But it makes sense in a way because teams save money just like what scout4real said…and that if they draft the players in the 2nd round, they might have to pay them if they make the team this season(if lockout doesnt occur)…

Winning_TimeParticipantIt’s bullshit, I’m the farthest thing from racist but really. It pissed me off almost as much as Daniel Orton being a first rounder last year.

llperezafter last years draft, there were about 2-3 threads immediately appearing that very night about how f’ng stupid the knicks were drafting landry fields who wasnt even a top 100 big board prospect on either nbadraft or draftxprss. SO how about we wait and chill. Fact is most second rounders wont ever contribute in the nba regardless of where they are from.

BBall4life88ParticipantI agree with everyone, It’s Bull sh**t!
It’s starting to look like a god damn soccer draft
And I feel bad for all the American kids who put the time in and work their ass off and they deserve a shot. Teams just draft these god damn international players based on their potential in hopes of getting the next Manu Ginobili so they can look like a genius ala KAHN. He thinks he’s so smart and little does he know he’s a complete ratard.

kaceyParticipantNBA should add another round. That way the third round could be used on all these Euro stashes.

Winning_TimeParticipantI’m in favor of the third round, sixty players isn’t really much and some teams don’t seem to even really want their picks. It would also save some teams trying to get younger a lot of trouble, *cough cough* SPURS
