I did this last week.  Got a bunch of heat for heat, so I decided to do another one!

The last one went 25 deep, so I will do this one until I run out of guys who could potentially make the All NBA 3rd Team.

Ok, here is a TOP 10 list.  Leaving off some ELITE PLAYERS, but these are a handful of guys who could REALISTICALLY win the MVP award this year.

Big ups to EMBIIDSIMMONS who look like a real life Blue Chips recruiting haul.

    NBA MVP Power Poll

    1. James Harden: stats, blowout wins, controlling the tempo.

    2. Kyrie Irving: great player who was given the keys to a blue chip franchise.

    3. Greek Freak: could be higher.

    4. Kristaps Porzingas: The White Larry Bird showed up this year to play.  Like Kyrie, KP was given the keys to a high profile franchise (if not a blue chip power house).

    5. Anthony Davis: getting it done as usual, and you can see a bigs-dominated Pelicans in the playoffs.

    6. LeBron James: Without LeBron, the listless Cavs would look more listless.

    7. Kevin Durant: scoring is there, and now he is blocking more shots.  Could be higher, could be lower, but the Warriors are looking good, even after the close loss to Celtic Pride.

    8. Joel Embiid: ripped one off. Can’t believe I didn’t watch.  There are some guys with better stats, but Mr. Embiid’s impact has been HUGE — as has his vaunted rookie teammate.

    9. DeMarcus Cousins: great stats, in Wilt Beast Mode.

    10. Ben Simmons: One of the best rookies in awhile.  There is an ESPN Insider article that thinks he might be the best all-around rookie EVER.

Honorable Mention: Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Damian Lillard, Marc Gasol, Klay Thompson, and Blake Griffin, plus whatever obligatory East upstart player you want: Evan Fournier, Aaron Gordon, Vucevic for the Magic and Andre Drummond for the Pistons, maybe Tobias Harris or Avery Bradley/Reggie Jackson.  Al Horford is moving his way into the East All Stars discussion.  C’s might even get THREE guys in if Jaylen Brown keeps it up.

Jokic, Eric Gordon, Clint Capela, and Tyreke Evans are some other guys out West who are playing well.

But, the top two All NBA teams? My top ten list has that covered!

I think Anthony Davis is probably the better player, but I don’t think he’s higher on the ladder than Boogie at this point. I’d have Boogie at 2nd or 3rd behind Harden and a toss up with Giannis. As much as Kyrie is proving me wrong so far, do we think they’d be noticeably worse with IT instead? I think you can contribute their success to the new guys, the development of young guys, and Horford playing at another level. No doubt he’s a big piece and will be in the conversation, but I don’t think he’s in the top 5 above guys like Giannis, Boogie, Porzingis, and Lebron at this point. An MVP averaging 20 and 5 would be interesting to say the least

Meant to put you can contribute their success to those 3 things as much as having Kyrie. Chick-fil-A drive thru got me distracted

I narrowed my list down to true MVP types.  Heavy hitters in this list — Steph Curry didn’t even make it.

After Harden there are probably 4 or 5 guys basically tied for 2nd place.

I can see Embiid and Simmons moving up. Or I can see them both moving out.  Durant and Curry probably swap places as the Warriors player in the top ten.  With Russ, Marc Gasol, DeRozan, Lillard and a few others right behind these guys.

I am basing this list on a combination of stats, team play, and momentum.  Intangibles are a factor, too.

I will do my 3rd list sometime later next week.
