Scott42444ParticipantEastern Illinois had 2 guys in 2001 who were Top 5 in the NCAA in scoring. Kyle Hill (23.8) and Henry Domercant (22.8). By your logic, Eastern should have won the NCAA tournament. There is a reason why college statistics don’t get used all the time when judging a player’s chances in the NBA. There are a thousand guys in the past decade who look great on paper but don’t pan out in the pros.
Reggie Williams from VMI led the nation in scoring two years in a row, 2006-2007 (28.1) and 2007-2008 (27.8), this site (NBADraft.net) had him with the 3rd best basketball IQ out of all the players in the draft, they listed him as the fifth-best passer, and he’s a 6’5” shooting guard/small forward type. If you look at him on paper, you cannot figure out how a guy who is one of only 9 guys who led the nation in scoring multiple times and has the size and basketball smarts to succeed isn’t a high draft pick. But, the fact of the matter is, the NBA is ridiculously hard. The people on the court have athleticism that is off the charts. There are intangibles that certain players have and others don’t. You know what, hell, I can’t really think of why Reggie Williams isn’t on an NBA roster. Maybe he is and I didn’t hear about it, but if that were the case I don’t think that he did that well since it probably would have caught my eye. But, there are other guys like Adam Morrison that you could use as an example too.
Hell, that’s it, I am about to start a new topic about Adam Morrison. He hasn’t done a thing in the NBA even though his stats and physical attributes would lead someone to believe that he could dominate in the NBA. I am guessing that he couldn’t overcome his athletic deficiencies, but to be honest I haven’t seen many Charlotte Bobcats games and he hasn’t played for the Lakers.

Knicksboy34Participantstop doing this ok, every 2 of 3 days you pick a random 2n round pick and hype him up
He is a fringe 2nd rounder now stop it
Name a quality big man he played?
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=26901
I mean if you put Blake Griffin against teams, each would avg 35ppg and 20rpg easy

gatorheelsParticipanthaha yeah btownkid you do pick some random dude that is unlikely to be drafted and hype them up. I think it is pretty funny. Actually I think Nivins has a descent chance to be drafted but I still predict he won’t be.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI understand that but come on,
1st -Lester Husdon
2nd-John Bryant
3rd- Luke Nevill and now Ahmad Nivins?Come on now. Everyone who enters the draft deserves a chance but in a conference with minimum NBA stars, he wont get a fair chance
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:54am #158044
gatorheelsParticipantNivins has a better chance of being drafted than your boy John Bryant haha.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:55am #158045
btownkidther arent a lot of big guys in this draft and for a second round team who needs a big guy hes a steal

Knicksboy34ParticipantLOL….yea he does.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:55am #158047
gatorheelsParticipantLester Hudson is real good though. I think he will get drafted.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 11:56am #158048
Meditated StatesParticipantI looked at their schedule though and don’t see any games where he could show and prove verse top level talent. He will get the invite to some camps with those numbers for sure.

btownkidI definitly think that nivins is a lot better than bryant. Bryant weighs to much and may fall to late round 2 because of it
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 12:02pm #158055
gatorheelsParticipantDude John Bryant will not get drafted. The fact that he weighs to much means that he will be lucky to find a spot on an team over in Europe. Not to mention he is slow & clumsy and won’t be a factor. John Bryant wouldn’t even be the first pick at my local YMCA.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 12:02pm #158057
btownkidhes still got talent and someone will take a chance on him
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 12:04pm #158060
gatorheelsParticipantIf he does get drafted I will give you mad props for being right.

btownkidthese are good young players who have talent and anyone that doesnt see that is an idiot
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 2:05pm #158128
Knicksboy34Participantyes…college talented…not NBA talented.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 2:06pm #158132
btownkidwhat makes him not nba talented
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 2:09pm #158136
j1232eParticipantOnly because this draft is very lite with big bodies, he might get more of a look late 2nd. Big center a becoming very rare in the nba.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 2:11pm #158139
Knicksboy34Participantthank you, more PF are playing C because the NBA is becoming faster.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 3:07pm #158167
auberParticipantI’m not going to get into this John Bryant thing, but all’s I have to say is he’s a bitch.
If I were to make an NBA comparison to any NBA player I wouldn’t even bother to give him rich man or poor man status. He’s a Homeless Chris Kaman.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/07/2009 - 3:11pm #158169
Knicksboy34ParticipantAuber you gota read the article about he got stabbed.
