I don’t agree with some things, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible.

I don’t see McDermott going that early.  You drop Hood all the way to 21 because of his defense but give McDermott a pass?

I’m much higher on James Young than you are too.  I think he’s going 8-10.

Harris is a popular pick to Cleveland, and there is good reason for it.  As a Clevelander I’m not a huge fan of it.  Harris is a solid two way talent, but he’s a bit undersized.  Cleveland already has Waiters, Bennett, and Thompson that are each a bit on the small side for their spots.  I think the team can get a comparable talent with some length at 9.

i kept mcdermott with the pistons because i wanted to add some efficiency scoring in their line-ups to balance out jennings and josh smiths ill advise shots. and my main target was to get the best shooter, which is something i believe doug is superior in over hood. and unlike the other teams that could take a small forward from 9-20(cleveland, atlanta, toronto), they dont have weak side blockers to help erase mistakes like Drummond and Smith.

the james young thing, i wont argue since i wouldnt be surprised if he does go higher. i just think as of right now that lavine has a higher ceiling while harris has better d and nik’s on ball attributes favor brad stevens’ style. but in the next few weeks, young’s value could raise with better work outs results mixed with good combine numbers

as for harris being undersize, i dont really feel he is. looking at the league today, more than 50% of the teams actually start a shooting guard 6’5" or shorter. its not like theres a big disparity to be a 6’4" two-guard anymore. sure there will still be the derozans that are 6’6", but they arent the norm anymore.

i did consider your cavs taking hood for a long time, but ultimately felt that despite his superior length, he wouldnt be able to post better defensive numbers or give  better defensive presence in the court more than harris. and besides, i think it would work out fine if glen robinson does drop to your 2nd round pick

you have Stokes way too low. he can crack the bottom of the 1st round. i dont see him sliding out of the 30s.

    Dougie is too high.

Payne too low. i think he can crack the bottom lottery. dont see him dropping out the teens.

-i’ll keep that in mind. i was actually considering on having him be taken by the clipps or the spurs in the tail end of the first round, but in the second, i just dint have a team take a power forward till the late 40’s and thats why he dropped lower than what i expected.

-probably not the best reasoning but, after being surprised that Adam Morrison got taken 3rd, Jimmer Ferdette at 10 and JJ Reddick at 11 despite having their defensive defficiencies well documented and difficulty to transalte at the next level, i decided to check out which could possibly be the earliest team that can take him. once i did that and saw the fit with the pistons, i decided to keep him there since he brings a different dynamic on the team despite possibly being a reach at their current draft spot.

-payne can go higher, teams such as chicago, toronto, or utah can take a stretch 4. but ultimately decided that the bulls might rather take a young promising point in case Rose continues to stay injured and an SG or PF with the highest ceiling, the raptors would prefer capela’s higher upside as well as think that payne is too simmilar to patterson, and that utah would prefer to take a wing after using their first pick on a 4 already.

Jazz do not need a Power Forward. If they happen to draft 5 or 6 and Randle is there I believe the Jazz would trade the pick or take a chance on Smart, Harris or Gordon if they thought he could play the three.

i actually had gary harris being the utah pick for most of the season. plays off the ball, good two way player, great for spacing and can guard opposing guards points that trey cant simillar to the way klay guards opposing point guards that steph cant.

however, i felt that the jazz would take randle since he’s bigger prospect with a higher ceiling. although the PF position isnt something they need if their young big men reach their potential, but theres no guarantee that they would. gobert is still a ways a way despite having a few good games this past season. derek favors, who was extended at 12.5 mil a year, played a lot of center and enes kanter is entering his contract year and it still hasnt been decided if he’ll be in their long-term plans.

getting randle at the 5 gives the jazz some insurance that if any of those 3 players dont live up their expectations, utah will still have a big time prospect. and even if they all do, then utah will have a valuable trade chip they can deal
